Blanton’s Gold shipped as a single bottle would be about $130. It’s $165 shipped on BSM so no sure why anybody would pay $216 OTD for it in Galveston.

Supposed to be a good year for Old Rip, but not worth $400 ever.
You could probably find cheap pours at a bar somewhere and drink the entire bottle for cheaper.
Correct. I’ve had a $16 2 oz pour which is half of secondary.

I feel bad that ND got any credit for beating USC this year, but damn I love watching Kelly lose. He’s the thinnest skinned, sorest loser in CFB.

Still pissed I passed on a bottle of Little Book. I've never seen it or heard it mentioned by my bourbon guys in Houston.
I know where at least a dozen bottles are in Austin between $89 and $109. Not hard to find at all.

I finally caved and bought a bottle of the OF1910. It’s good, but a little heavy handed with the sweetness. It’s like a sweet, less complex Little Book

Please tell me more about the Wild Turkey bottle. I've heard it referenced on a few a podcasts. Is it an older bottle?
I've heard Wild Turkey 101 in the early 2000's tastes quite a bit better than it does now. I remember drinking some pretty respectable bottles of it in about 2008.
It’s just age stated export 101. But damn it’s good and I really like it. Not sure what the exact age is because it’s not laser coded like US Wild Turkey. I picked it up because an additional bottle is only $10 more shipping when ordering Blanton’s Gold from the UK. And then I can go all bourbon snob on people when they come to the house. “You want to try this? It’s not available in the US.”

I know where an MSRP bottle of EH TaylorSingle Barrel is. Should I buy it? Serious question, I’ve never had it.
Of course. It’s good for $60 and I’m not opposed to paying $80. At $60 it’s one of the better commonly available options. Over $80 and it will get worked by other options. Came in last for this lineup.

EC18 $400 a bottle good?
It’s $220 shipped on BSM, so no.

Somehow I forgot to reply to this, and have missed a boatload of the thread.
Seems like it’s a tricky deal, but one that could be worth it if taken in context.
$200 for a .5 oz/ flight of the 10, 12, 15 and 20.
Then you can add a 1/2 oz of the 23 or rye for addt’l $75. Subsidizing the costs of the older stuff with the younger, but easier than finding in the wild
Ouch. I like to pay secondary or less for rare whiskey in bars. That’s 50% over.

Scored a couple of 1792 Full Proof store picks from TW today. Missed the Blanton’s by a few hours but at this point buying them is more hoarding than actual necessity.
I’ve bought two Blanton’s store picks at retail in the last week and now my collection. Is up to two store picks, an OG, a gold and an SFTB. Probably time to start looking for something else.
For those looking for something old and interesting but available the OLC 14 yr Barrell Bourbon pick is strong to quite strong. I’ve bought two for Christmas gifts and kept one. Hard to beat for $85.
-
This is making my $101 combo purchase of Twin’s store pick Blanton’s and OWA today look weak.

And just to let @USCATX and @Whiskyteer know....imaginary barrel no. 5017755 tastes delicious. You're welcome to try it sometime if you live in Austin. But only if you have enough Christmas spirit to believe that it exists.
It has a small batch 94 proof label, right? Probably lists the original barrel proof and age on the side label but unless I’m missing something it’s proofed down like every other ECSB store pick.

She also got: 2 bottles of a nice store pick ECBP.
That’s not a real thing.
I’m working on some WT Decades Batch 02 and WT 101 8 year age stated tonight. Both are great with the 101 winning on the nose and the Decades on the finish. About the same on palate. Spec’s has Decades for $90 through December and it’s a worthwhile pickup at that price.

Had some for the first time tonight. Heat and char upfront, but mellows into a nice caramel woodiness in the finish. Enjoyed it very much over the past two years.
It’s so good. Probably my favorite sub 100 proof bourbon I’ve had yet. Also doesn’t hurt that it’s $16 for healthy pours at my neighborhood bar right now.

I want to trade 1 ECBP plus $50 for MWND.
Can anyone help me there?I will buy the next one I see for $99. But not the one sitting at my Eagle Rare honey hole for $175.

Is MWND available to purchase in Austin?
Yeah, I bought one and have passed on a couple more. It’s new to me, need to crack it this weekend.

Same. Blantons and 12 yr in the last week...
Where is the Eagle Rare? Santa needs to know
If you know anybody in a control state like North Carolina they can probably hook it up by the case for < $30/750ml.

It’s good and all over Austin for $89-$109. I have a spare.

Can rhetoric 25 be any good? 25 years seems incredibly long in the barrel
Orphan Barrel gets shat on plenty, but this one is actually pretty good. I bought one for $149 retail and don’t regret it at all. I’m not saying I want to mow through a 3 oz pour, but it’s not a tannic oak bomb by any stretch. Thinking about picking up a backup because there’s nothing else like it available at retail routinely.

Forward2me is pretty clear that they're going to inspect your purchases and make sure it's legal to ship to your final destination. Do you use them to send you alcohol in Texas?
They have a whole page dedicated to it.
https://www.forward2me.com/ship-alcohol-from-uk/
They don’t seem to dig down into the state level and I do know that it works, as does thewhiskeyexchange.com, but they are always out of stock. I’ve also ordered directly from masterofmalt prior to them ceasing US shipments without issue.
I think it’s always a risk, but one I’m willing to take for good bourbon.

4 of us went through 2 bottles at my company owner ranch 2 weeks ago. Shit is nectar. That did not answer the question. I need this in my life.
Bunch of rule following boy scouts in here. Anyway:
masterofmalt.com
forward2me.com
It’s not rocket science. Regardless of rules, you shouldn’t be doing this if you can’t afford to lose a couple hundred if customs gets you

You’ll have to time it on the whiskey exchange or use a UK forwarding service via master of malt. I’ve done both in the past.
