  1. Great movie. Loved the long, slow-developing '70s throwback car chase at the end. It reminded me so much of flicks like Vanishing Point (which was similarly anti-authoritarian/anti-establishment). In fact that road is pretty much a carbon copy of the hilly road in a portion of the chase in Vanishing Point.
  2. Announcement of Apple’s US F1 rights confirmation tipped for United States GP Apple is expected to secure the US Formula 1 rights in a deal worth a reported $140m per year with an announcement in Austin https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/announcement-of-apples-us-f1-rights-confirmation-tipped-for-united-states-gp/10766760/ Doesn't really affect us much, as we have AppleTV+, but not many people do, relatively speakling. This move seems to run counter to LM/FOM's stated desire to grow F1 viewership in the US. This will shrink it, pretty significantly.
  3. Yeah I remember this guy who did incredible things the second half of his rs soph year and his junior year. His rs freshman year and the first half of his rs soph year, he did some great things and some freshman/sophomore things. I rememeber some people on here saying some really smart things about what to do with him, like "We should move him to TE". IIRC he wore #10 on his back. Ya know, before the season started I said they were crazy to rank us #1 with a new qb, like they so often do. Preseason polls are stupid, and this year's was no exception. It's like they do it on purpose, so they can make hay off of the #1 team falling from the top of the hill (I stated that as a theory, but we all know it's 100% intentional). But my assessment didn't even take into account the losses we incurred on the OL. Putting us at #1 was literally insane ... just as insane as blaming our offensive woes on one guy when the entire offense has personnel issues and the play calls are being made by a guy who shouldn't be making them.
  4. I wish as much as the next guy that playing another QB would make Sark call better plays, fix our obvious and serious OL deficiencies, make our receivers get open and not drop passes, and heal our RBs (who don't have holes to run through anyway) .... but it won't. Arch isn't there yet, but has shown some improvement - even, yes, against Florida. He isn't the reason our offense is sucking right now, but that won't stop the simple-minded from piling on. Carry on.
  5. nsiap: Re: sending Texas NG troops to Illinois, even the idjits north of the Red River get it. When the State of Texas sent National Guard troops to Illinois under the direction of our own criminal Governor Greg Abbott, I asked my boys "What do you think Abbott would have done under the Biden administration, had Governor Pritzker sent Illinois National Guard troops into Texas under false pretenses, unrequested, and against his wishes?" Even with their young skulls full of all sorts of mush, and through a haze of nonstop pussy/cars/sports/music social media, they immediately knew the correct answer: "He would have lost his mind. He would say it's an act of aggression by one state against another state". Even they get it, and it appears (in imho another example of the weakening of Trump's support among Republicans) that some Republicans who matter also get it. 6. Yep, and he seemed pretty comfy with the physicality in that last preseason game.
  7. Aight. Gameday, bitches. Let's do this.
  8. Yankees & Dodgers lose ... It was a good day.
  9. I played in the Zaragosa League for Hilbert Maldonado's team (Hill-Bert's Hamburgers). Good times.
  10. Boinnnnng. JR Hildebrand gets it. Please, please, please let a series featuring cars like this happen.
  11. Non-F1 PSA: Bathurst 1000 this weekend, + 5 support series. This schedule link converts times to our local time: https://www.supercars.com/events/2025-bathurst-1000/schedule Dunno if it's on tv here, but you can buy Superview for $10AUD for a month then cancel, decent deal for 6 hours of entertainment https://www.supercars.com/superview Really enjoyed the one time they raced here. Too bad we can't have nice things. Petite Le Mans this weekend too!
  12. 84/74 is a 92 heat index. Houston's 89/59 at noon today (per Weather Underground) is a 95 heat index. At race time today in Austin, the heat index would be 94, climbing to 95 during the race. Small difference, but even if they were the same, I'd take the nighttime race there vs the daytime race here. I grew up in the Houston area & have spent a couple weeks in Thailand recently (pretty similar to Singapore), and there isn't too much between the two weather-wise. And re: the firesuit, I used to wear a much heavier, much less breathable, hotter one into fires in Austin, and I can tell you it was always much worse to wear in the daytime, even with slightly lower temps. Man, bunker gear soaks in the sunlight & radiant heat and holds body heat like nobody's business. It's insane.
  13. OK, Lewis. LOL.
  14. Yeah that's kinda what I've been thinking. Another big difference here will be the sun baking down on them. 84 at night vs 92 in the daytime is only 8 degrees difference, but the sun beating on you makes it much worse.
  15. Oh, and all this talk about the 'brutal' heat, lol. Pfft. Race start temp was 84 degrees with 74% humidity. Not optimal, but far from the bloodbath they make it out to be. It's been pretty fucking hot here lately. Hotter than usual. They better hope it cools off for the USGP.
  16. Yeah it's like I told my kid, McLaren is basically inviting Max back into the WDC race by doing it the way they're doing it. It's like they want to yet again win the WCC while losing the WDC.
  17. Yep. And Alonso made 3 straight passes for points positions that they never showed replays of or even mentioned until several laps later. Crazy. Woulda probably been pretty wild to actually see Alonso catching Lewis at the end there, too. My kid & I were watching the gap drop like crazy & he didn't believe me when I said it was gonna be close.
  18. LOL, wow. This is the couple nextdoor, or at least the guy, to a tee. Really wild in college and afterward, lots of drugs and partying, etc. Now he's Mr. Christian Low-key MAGA. She's not so much, but she won't say anything against him unless she goes out with my wife & her friends & they get her drinking.
  19. Oh, boy. Here we go. What a dumbass. Posted this here because apparently (or afaik) the party is still backing him, and the Rs & Turnip are making as much political hay of that as they can. Virginia’s Democratic nominee for attorney general facing pressure over resurfaced text messages https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/04/politics/virginia-democratic-nominee-attorney-general-facing-pressure
  20. Yep ...
  21. Yep, & that reputation isn't just based on a few HS football playoff games a few years ago. It's his entire, disastrously bad, ongoing body of work, which is fucking huge.
  22. Nah. Fuck him. And he probably predicted they'd WIN 10-1. Now he'll quit on his team & turn on 'em again like he did before.
  23. I mean ... I didn't see that when Helodamus posted it, but if I HAD seen it, I'd have known right then and there that we were completely and utterly fucked. I probably wouldn't have even bothered to watch the game. I've never seen anyone make so many predictions & have so many takes, so confidently, and be so horribly wrong so often as Helobious. Seriously, fuck that guy.
  24. Yeah, clearly they're being told to get those shots, but it's a little creepy how often they do it and how long they stay with the shots.
