ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
Yeah no cable, fiber, or streaming service I've ever used in 45 years has come close to YTTV, & I've used pretty much everything that's been available to me.

ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
Yeah when you fast forward ESPN broadcasts (dunno about other networks) on Hulu, you can FF to whatever spot you want, but when you hit play, they make you sit through the last commercial break, even when there are no actual ads there, which is often the case on, say, a volleyball match. YTTV doesn't do that. They don't even do that on the ESPN app.

There's still a good amount of karting on these days, just not on ESPN. I have quite a few kart races on my yttv dvr. Really great stuff. The purest racing we have left.

2025 - 2026 Astros Offseason Thread
For sure it's been thought of. Nothing new, really, but analytics say just swing for the fences all the got damn time, strikeouts be damned. So I think a whole lot of people have gotten away from some basic hitting tenets. We see it in damn near any MLB game we watch these days. IMHO if you get those big eaters swinging shorter & more direct, more for line drives & fewer strikeouts, they're still gonna hit their share of bombs, or maybe more. I think disciplined, selective guys like Yordan & Paredes already do it a lot, but I could see the benefit of reinforcing that mindset & spreading it around to the rest of the team. Extreme example: Kinda reminds me of a kid I coached for a few years. Big, strong kid. Catcher. When he was 13, he was a good hitter. Good slug. Good avg, etc. Then we went to Cedar Park and he hit a bomb over one of those tall LF fences. He got fixated on the long ball and started trying to hit more of em. Not only did he not hit another bomb, I literally can't remember him getting solid contact in a game the rest of the year. Seriously, not even once. He was a complete mess. That HR ruined him as a hitter for the rest of that season and most of the next. If he had stayed focused on contact & driving the ball, he'd have hit more of 'em and kept hitting for avg, too.

C'mon, man. What could go wrong with our regional ref crews being full of Aggy, Tech, & Baylor grads?

2025 - 2026 Astros Offseason Thread
Seriously. And from what little I've read, it seems like a reasonable approach. The focus on contact, contact, contact rings true to me, having watched this 2025 team not put the ball in play so many times when that was pretty much all that needed to happen. I doubt that will hurt HR numbers, and will probably help imho, like what they saw in SD. Get the sluggers making more contact, and at minimum imho what you end up with is sluggers with more hits, better OBP, more RBI, & the same or more HR & extra base hits. I.E. the more Yord, Altuve, Paredes etc hit the ball, the more HR you'll see. Get the other guys getting on base, and that's more guys to get knocked in. See more pitches, get more/better hits, work the other teams' pitchers more, etc, etc. This 2025 team was a walk in the park for the other teams' pitchers in terms of pitch count, getting us to chase, etc. It was silly.

The Dallas Stars 2025-2026 Season Thread: We can haz cup?
Yeah he's aight. Seriously though, he's a fucking badass. Such a great addition for this team and for us fans. Love watching him do his thing, and holy shit, what a hockey game. Side note, it's crazy how fucking solid Moose is. He hurts people without even trying (see the accidental collision in mid-ice). People just bounce off of him. BTW for any of you who couldn't see it live b/c you have YTTV, it became available last night on the ESPN app, even for us YTTVers.

- ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
Great point. Same boat here. Moved from UVerse to YTTV a couple of years ago. It's a massive upgrade overall, & I still pay far less, even at the current prices. I wonder what UVerse costs now for the same content I get, or Spectrum etc for that matter (still without an unlimited dvr, ability to watch anywhere, etc afaik). The Mouse and the utter dogshit ESPN App can both eabod & diaf.- ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
Yeah, NFL games set to record. Nothing else showing up that I know of, like MarkStanco said. Maybe it's an NFL Network thing, like he said.- ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
BTW, for some reason the Cowboys game is in my YTTV dvr. WTF?- ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
LOL that's why I said 'two evils', and that we've seen this shit before. These contract negotiations are nothing new. Content owners trying to get to a point where we have to go directly to them and they hold all the cards is a bit of a twist. And that's all fine, I guess, but when they wanna raise the price to a stupid level, then I'm out. I don't see YTTV doing anything else the cable/streaming aggregators haven't been doing for as long as they've existed. Disney isn't trying to do all of this to make less money, so I assume if they get their way, ESPN is gonna cost me a lot more than it costs for me to get it through YTTV.- ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
Yeah imho the greater of two evils here, by far, is the Mouse, so fuck it. I'll either find a way to get their shit for free until they come to a deal with YTTV or I'll do without. I can't put the blame on YTTV for this shit. This is the same shit that happens, to varying degrees, with every other service that carries ESPN. I ain't gonna help the Mouse out by switching to another streaming service or cable, when they're trying to fuck me and everyone else. I can always go to a bar or something if I can't find a way to watch from home. Fuck Disney.- ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
- 2025 World Series- Dodgers v Blue Jays
Yep. That's what I told my boys. That was THE play. Probably 99.9% of the time that ball ends up on the ground in that scenario. - ESPN and The Mouse vs. YouTube TV
