3 month update: Just finished rehab. Did it all at home via the Force Therapeutics app (which I think the practice owns). They gave me a referral for therapy outside the home - if I felt like I needed it. I never used it. Just did the exercises in the videos on the app, per their plan. The exercises changed every couple of weeks.
My surgical hip already feels great and is noticeably better off now than the right other hip. No pain. No pain. No pain. Far better range of motion than before. I walk normally now, no limping. I can squat deeper and easier now than I could for years, and without favoring a side. Starting to feel like I can run again, mountain bike, etc. Hip feels brand new.
If you have a painful hip and are a candidate for replacement but aren't quite sure yet that you wanna do it, based on my experiences, I say find a good doctor and do it if you can. Life's too short to be limited, limping around, not doing the things you want and/or need to do, being in pain much of the time.
Now, not to be outdone, Mrs. Wood (no pics) is going in tomorrow for knee replacement surgery.
