  1. Elton John at COTA. Dismal. He seemed pissed off and clearly didn't want to be there. However much he got paid, he didn't deserve it.
  2. My buddy out by COTA just texted me like he does every year, with a video where you can hear nothing but AKs all around. That's how they roll out in SE Travis County.
  3. Yeah my dipshit neighbor spends a couple grand on em every NYE and July 4th, then leaves the huge fireworks mess in the cul de sac and our yards. I sweater god he's laundering money for the cartels. Sounds like Gaza outside my house right now. All the animals are hiding out.
  4. Happy New Year, & Hookem!! Here's to a better '25 than '24.
  5. Is that for realz? ETA: Never mind. It's for realz.
  6. Seriously, this. I parked next to one yesterday at Costco on William Cannon, so I took a good look at it before going in. All I kept thinking about was how much dumbassery combined with abject dorkdom and Musk fanboiism would be required to make a grownup think this thing was cool and that paying way too much money for it would be a good idea.
  7. Pretty amazing. Here's video from the safe belly landing of the LOT 767 in 2011. I think it has flaps fully down. The plane stopped in half of the runway length. Captain is a got damn hero.
  8. Is there video that shows the left engine's thrust reverser closed? Maybe I missed it. Yep. The ILS locator antennae construction was atypical and not ideal to be sure, but the much bigger problem was that they came in long, touching down much too far down that runway. ... and that they came in very fast relative to normal landing speeds.
  9. Yeah we've done some shit almost as tough as that out at Big Bend, maybe tougher overall, in our old stock fwd Toyota Sienna minivan. No problems. That thing was a fucking workhorse. We treated it like a truck, and it was all like "That's it? What else ya got?"
  10. If both engines were hit, which has been the subject of some talk on CNN, electrics and hydraulics would almost certainly be impacted. I haven't been following it today, but I don't think it's been confirmed that only one engine was hit.
  11. As an alternative, K1 is aight. Not as big or fast of a track, but they tend to maintain their karts better than COTA does. Still not great maintenance there, but COTA does a terrible job with them, esp for what you pay. You never know what kinda shitty kart you'll get at COTA. Last 2 or 3 times I went to COTA with my boys, we all got wildly varying karts every race, with different levels of power, steering out of whack pulling hard to one side, shitty brakes, etc, etc.
  12. Probably already talked about, but I'll jump on the pile. Fuck all the left lane squatters. The single biggest thing we could do to improve traffic on our highways would be to crack down on these fuckers. I've driven in most states, and it's far worse here than any of those, minus that hellscape called I-10 in Louisiana. Go north or west and it instantly improves. Get past Louisiana and it improves dramatically. There's a special place in hell for these self-important cocksuckers, and they can all go straight there as far as I'm concerned..
  13. Pretty much any bird or other foreign object can take out an engine. Doesn't have to be a big one.

    Yellowstone

Yeah it was all completely ridiculous, when there was actually shit happening every once in a while. If the other seasons had been half as bad as this one, the show wouldn't have lasted long.

Make him back into a ginger. then you'll see it.

    Kill Tony

Yeah him as Biden with Shane as Trump was the best episode I've seen. Also the last one I've seen. They were absolutely amazing. They're just so good. I personally think Tony is funny af and as quick on his feet as I've ever seen, and I love Kam, David Lucas, and Mark Normand as well. Kam would kill me just reading the phone book. Ari, Hans, & William can eabod imho, but to each his own.
  17. LOL my boy & I have so few fucks left to give that we're just getting around to watching Abu Dhabi. Watching GP Sunday just now they had Ted interviewing Brad Pitt, then Danica says "it's not like Brad is the only actor that loves racing. There's Jason Priestley, Frankie Munoz, and Patrick Dempsey". (Surely she meant Muniz, but those immigrant names probably all sound alike to Danica). LOL, those are the most prominent actors in racing that she could think of? I guess she forgot about those chumps McQueen, Newman, and Garner, among other notables. More recently there's also Fassbender (who's actually pretty good, and others. Trivial tidbit: Our own Walter Cronkite was a racer, and raced in fields that included Phil Hill, Bruce McLaren, his friend Stirling Moss, and Dan Gurney. He even raced in and finished the 1959 12H of Sebring, and apparently was Jeremy Clarkson before Jeremy Clarkson was Jeremy Clarkson ... https://www.thedrive.com/article/474/walter-cronkite-was-the-original-jeremy-clarkson [cronkitevoice] What starts here ... 🤘 [/cronkitevoice]
  18. Yep. With both engines gone, that would probably explain why they didn't/couldn't go around for another approach after coming in so high. I can't imagine how difficult a dead-stick landing would be in that thing. If that's what it was, in my layman's opinion, it was probably a pretty heroic effort in the cockpit just to make as good of an approach as they did.
  19. They were saying on CNN early this am that the aircraft came in much too high and touched down much further down the runway than normal, leaving little distance for stopping. At that speed and touching down that late, they would have needed a helluva lot more room off the end of the runway. Had they touched down much further back, they might have had a chance, but who knows. Not sure if thrust reversers were working either given that the other systems seem to have been down and given that they might have been damaged touching down without gear. Without them, I'm guessing it would be tough - but that runway is 3km long, so who knows. They also said the tower had given them a warning about reported birds/birdstrikes near the airport, and showed video of what looked to me like a birdstrike on the right engine. There's also some unconfirmed talk of multiple birdstrikes knocking both engines out. They declared a Mayday about 1 minute after receiving that warning, without giving more info. Probably won't know much about that until they get the box data and the cockpit voice recorder.
  20. Yep. And the place only holds 65K. If I had to bet, I'd say that crowd is in the 10-15K range.
  21. It looked much worse ... like maybe half that much.
