I'm 59 years old, and I've watched every presidential debate in my voting-age life. I can honestly say that what I saw tonight was easily the most dominant performance by one candidate over the other that I've ever seen. It's not even close. Harris completely destroyed Trump, without really trying that hard. She just let him talk, and out came all the craziness one could imagine, and more. I agree that that won't swing Trump's base, but nothing ever will swing these people. They are not dealing in reality. It will have an effect with moderate Republicans and undecided voters though. How much of an effect? Who knows. Also having an effect will be people like Dick and Liz Cheney endorsing Harris, Bush declining to endorse Trump, Judge Luttig and multiple generals accurately calling Trump a threat to our Democracy, the 200+ Republican former White House staffers endorsing Harris, etc, etc. It all adds up, and imho Trump/Vance will have a difficult time beating Harris/Walz.
And yeah re: those stupid bastards being allowed to vote, I wish we could somehow let all the nutjob extremists go at each other until they're all gone, and let the grownups in the middle (which I believe is the majority) run this shit.
