I'm sure there are many more posts that I could quote on this topic. And yeah, even as a member of that union local and a retired Austin ff, I don't understand the accusation ... but tbf, I stopped keeping up with AFD shit the second I walked out the CTECC doors after my retirement party 3 years ago. Never looked back. DGAF. And yeah, the writer of that posting (yes, I know them, and no, I'm not naming names) writes some pretty cringy shit.
My uninformed guess based on past experience is that this is probably based on previous relations with said chief. Emergency resource management is not quite as simple as "They need it, so let's send it. Right now!", and they know that.
ETA: Maybe something good will come from the mention that the State knew ahead of time and was mobilizing well in advance of the storm. Maybe there's some method to the author's madness after all.
