  1. I enjoyed Alphaville but agree with OGB that it was a chore to get thru some of his films. Lots of wtf moments.
  2. A sizzling three in a row tonight with Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman and Spinaltap. Guffman may be the least appreciated but it is worthy on its own as Guest and his regulars hilariously flesh out their roles.
  3. A child’s humor formed by Mad Magazine, Monty Python, Mel Brooks and National Lampoon. What a wonderful time. . National Lampoon was special, it could make you horny and laugh at the same time.
  4. Richard and Linda Thompson’s Shoot Out The Lights is the top divorce album for me. "Don't Renege on Our Love" – 4:19 "Walking on a Wire" – 5:29 "Man in Need" – 3:36 "Just the Motion" – 6:19 "Shoot Out the Lights" – 5:24 "Back Street Slide" – 4:33 "Did She Jump or Was She Pushed?" (Richard Thompson, Linda Thompson) – 4:52 "Wall of Death" – 3:43

    Power Pop

I heard for the first time or perhaps just never played Squeeze’s “Labeled With Love” off of Eastside Story. What a good country song by an exceptional pop band. I have always liked these bands when it comes to pop.
  6. Same here for the Comal. We ain’t had shit except for a quarter inch for a couple of days. Flow that was 271 (mean) last year on this date is now 124. And that’s up from earlier this month where it hovered around a 100. We need a lot of fuckin rain to drop here and in recharge areas of aquifer.

    Pefok with 2 assists.
  8. So my mom is a fan of spectrum news all day long as she contends with Alzheimer’s. I changed the channel early in the morning to tcm and it was Shelley Winters day. For some reason she and the dog were in their bedroom at 6 pm with the lights out. I was headed out the door for a game so don’t know what was going on or cared to find out.

  11. I order a whataburger w cheese for breakfast because I can get it fresh then.
  12. Flirting with Disaster. Every character is funnier than stiller but he is the central figure.
  13. He didn’t have to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court but he was fast. https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2017/06/04/bill-russell-coleman-play-leadership/?amp=1
  14. The Sinful Nuns of Saint Valentine. Romeo and Juliette meet the Spanish Inquisition. Although considered nun-sploitation, it deftly considers the freedoms available in a regimented society. Can’t say just two thumbs were up and bravo for being made before the fake boobs era.
  15. Jeffie was Kim’s prom date and he just couldn’t be savage enough so she’s moved on before having to behead him ala Nadja.
  16. I finished it a few weeks ago. It was like a book that I could put down and eventually would pick back up again.
  17. Howard’s widow established that Kim and Jimmie were last to see Howard alive. After the wake, Kim withdraws from the bar. Logical reaction from the legal community would be that Kim and Howard were having an affair. How else do cliff and schweikert view it. Kim leaving is now a liability for Fring and is now perceived as a risk. Does Mike go after her and do we see the vacuum guy?
  18. Is Newman’s worst better than Redford ‘s best? I’m gonna have to think on that. Not that Redford sucks or anything it’s just that Newman kicks ass.
  19. Paul’s moments of rage remind me a lot of growing up with my dad. For us our family ended in divorce, and in the long term it was good for everyone. In the short term it was a constant mind fuck of emotions. These scenes are not my favorite but there is a certain logic to it and the narrative moves on.
  20. And nice touch with the psa at the end. I wonder if they did that for the British viewing. I like that it shows what once were funny but thin characters into complex and difficult situations and still retaining their sense of humor.
  21. I’ll go with jimmy's first wife. He was attracted to her drapes.

Costa Rica next to qualify for WC and then likely unbeaten Honduras to qualify for Olympics. We’ll see how tough this team is, playing Honduras on its home soil and I doubt we’ll get favorable reffing. Everyone else has at least one loss or draw except Honduras. But first things first, beat CR.
  23. Simon says: And I lived that with The Wire. The Wire was canceled after season 3, and The Wire was nearly canceled again — I had to grovel and beg and plead — after season 4. To their great credit, HBO listened, and on the argument of story – not anything else because we didn’t have an audience – on the argument of story let us finish. This is not a new dynamic. I’ve been living with this for the last 6-7 years. It just is what it is. https://ew.com/article/2012/09/23/david-simon-treme/
  24. Finished season 5. Although I’ve watched season 1 and 2 multiple times, this is first time to watch 5 for the second time. Liked it much better than first time seeing it. Standout was the journalism story especially Gus. Too bad there was no season 6. I’d like to see what they would have done with a focus on Hispanics but lucky that hbo let it go for as long as it did.
