Richards will transfer to Hoffenheim. Chance to play under his old coach.
  2. Shit, I can't get past instrumentals. Found this while looking for the stripper song from Diner. And then heard a song on Bill Mack's show, but couldn't find it either, but both quests led me to this. Why is it perfect, I don't know but love the call and response of the sax and keyboards and it makes me move. and... Saw him and Augie Meyer in 2019 at a halloween festival where he had to be helped on stage. He couldn't play like he used to, but that doesn't matter when I hear this song.

    1) My memory is that FCD expected McKennie to enroll at Virginia and they wouldn't have to sign him until they wanted to. McKennie went AWOL during the DA playoffs and Pomykal moved up to take his place on the U18s. McKennie then signed with Schalke when he turned 18 in August. Up for dispute, but I think FCD realized they screwed the pooch and began signing underage players. A few months later FCD signed Pomykal and then Fereirra and Reynolds. 2) Pepi switched to FCD EP while there. 2019 U17 Mexico starting striker was also from FCD EP, Santiago Munoz. There were rumors he may go back to USYNT. Chris Richards and Tanner Tessman are from Alabama and migrated to FCD. Pomykal started out with Dallas Texans and Cannon with Solar through early DA. They and several others were told to transfer to FCD if they wanted consideration for USYNT. 3) Interesting that Bayern-FCD agreement was supposed to be two ways, but I don't ever hear any young players going from Bayern to play for FCD. But no worries as long as players of Richards caliber can get chances. 4) Philadelphia did well with McKenzie going to Genk and Aaronson to Salzburg. They supposedly have some very good young players. 5) Absolutely love the success that these young American players are having overseas.
  4. Enjoyed the Up series as well as his direction of biographical movies like Coalminer's Daughter and Gorillas in the Mist. RIP old dude.

This is nice. Supposed to be a dm in the Tyler Adams mode.
  6. Any of the John Le Carre adaptations should qualify. Since Le Carre just died in Dec. there should be a lot of articles regarding the best ones. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/14/movies/john-le-carre-netflix.html The British tv series for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Smiley's People are on regular youtube. Alec Guinness plays Smiley and he as always is terrific. A current viewer has to get past the late 70s visuals, but I think the acting and directing are really good.
  7. The TCM intro to Spinal Tap indicates it was being shown as an in memoriam piece and specifically honoring Fred Willard. The movie after was the belly of an Architect featuring Brian Dennehy.
  8. It's a Richard Curtis move set at Christmas. I don't understand why Rhys Ifans wasn't in it. I'd rather watch Pirate Radio than this at Christmas. Or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang if I want some Christmas fun.
  9. Breeders - hilarious and dark. The grandparents are a riot. Do three episode mini-series count? Quiz, about the cheating scandal in Who Wants to be a Milionaire.

    Big Country?

I heard the Skids on George Gmarc's show in 1980 and loved Into the Valley and bought the album, Scared to Dance. Another great song is Saints are Coming later covered by U2, but the original is better. Adamson left the Skids to form Big Country.
  11. Defending Villanova means not biting on every ball fake. Texas bit on every one and Villanova took advantage to get easy shots and makes when they needed it. Seems like it would have been a point of emphasis by the coaches. They attacked swider to score points when he was matched but then let hid slow feet juke and get open for 3 point makes. Lots of promise with this team. Hopefully they can learn how to play smarter against a quality team like Villanova.

Sargent not released by his club. Lletget takes his place since his club finished in the shitter.
  13. I'm bewildered by the lack of mentions for Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
  14. There’s a Storms in Hamilton county too so that works.
  15. We know some people who are on a journey to visit every county to check out the courthouses, so I'd like to to do the same for burgers. What are your recommendations for each county? Since there are 254 counties and the limitations of my gastric system, I will be proceeding at a slow pace of 2-3 days at a time, so any suggestions for other activities would be welcome. Especially swimming holes. You can recommend the foo-foo burgers but I'd rather know of old timey cheeseburgers. As an example, several years ago we stopped at a convenience store on I-10 east of Beaumont and they had a nice looking grill so I went for the cheeseburger and it was fantastic--just an old time drug store burger.
  16. Two movies back to back last night on one of the pay channels. Namesake - Irfan Khan is fantastic in this movie. Little Children - Love the narration in this one. Gives it a Frontline feel for its suburban setting.
  17. Belongs in Guest Pantheon.
  18. Trick for me is to add (big + symbol) for future recordings. For example, NFL Network has Cowboys at Seahawks at 2 pm. Click on the program and use the plus to add a recording. I get auto recordings on Champions League games as it gave me option to record all that are shown on CBS Sports or CBS.
  19. The last paragraph of Criterion's review sums it up pretty well. https://www.criterion.com/current/posts/3713-breaker-morant-scapegoats-of-empire Breaker Morant’s stature has grown over the years. In a varied and distinguished career, Beresford has done nothing finer. It belongs with Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory (1957) and Joseph Losey’s King & Country (1964) among the cinema’s most scathing indictments of military (in)justice; and its interrogation of atrocities committed under the heading of “standard operating procedure” looks more relevant and prescient than ever. One need not look very far in our own century for parallels, including, when such procedures are deemed politically unacceptable, the speed with which scapegoats are found and soldiers on the ground become victims of the hypocrisies of government and high command.
  20. I tend to follow directors and below are some of my favorites and I think underrated. Noah Baumbach: Kicking and Screaming and The Squid and the Whale are two early ones I enjoy rewatching and both are on netflix. Atom Egoyan: Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter. I miss video stores and browsing for unknown titles in the suspense section. Jonathan Demme: Melvin and Howard and Swimming to Cambodia. Don't like to watch many films while high as I lose the plot, Swimming to Cambodia is an exception. John Sayles: Matewan and Secret of Roan Inish. I like most of his films, but these two are my faves. Lone Star may not be underrated, but it is certainly unavailable. Hal Hartley: Trust and The Book of Life. Hartley also directed some of better episodes of sitcom Red Oaks available on Prime. Book of Life is a short movie that I've seen on youtube about the end of days. David O Russell: Flirting with Disaster. Three Kings is a great movie whether it is rated or not. Bruce Beresford: Breaker Morant and Don's Party (available on Prime). Is Breaker Morant underrated? It is, if it is not considered a great film.

And Reyna draws the foul where Haaland scores the PK.
  22. Broadway Danny Rose is one of my favorites of his and it's not overly funny. “It's important to feel guilty. Otherwise, you're capable of terrible things.”
  23. Decline of Western Civilization is on later tonight as well as Part 2: Heavy Metal. Never thought, I'd see these on TCM. A doc on Mance Lipscomb was recently on--recorded but have not watched. The Kids are Alright is on tonight as well. Recorded the Abba movie from 1979 as Lasse Hallstrom directed and I want to see if there are any My Life as a Dog parallels.
  24. Who are the assistants now? Is it just Berry?
