  1. Baylor was playing a 3-2 zone and so the middle was covered if ball went to side. The openings were on the baseline with Hepa wide open many times, but the guards were too tentative and wouldn't make the pass to him. Smart screwed up by not playing Sims in second half as he could have flashed on the baseline with Hayes being covered and gotten easy looks. Sims also would have been better at defense and rebounding. Give credit to Baylor for playing physical and hard, but Smart mismanaged the game.
  2. This is Texas' only chance to win a remaining game on the road, so they better bring their speed and for once, be focused in a road environment. And if there is a last shot opportunity put the ball in Ramey's hands. They ain't winning in Lubbock and conference tournament will be a neutral game.
  3. She's come a long way from "girl on girl action" and having a "midnight gobble".

  5. So, Febres and Long will get some more time with Roach out. Looking at Febres' 3 point shooting as I wonder how effective he is as a shooter. I don't know if there are stats for this, but he seems to shoot better when he has the Texas bench behind him, so I'm curious if there is a breakdown of his first half and second half percentages. According to stats, he's shooting 36.1% in 3's over the season. He is slightly up for the conference at 36.7%, but if you take out the highest (7-9 v KSU) and lowest (take your pick as he's had two 1-6 games OU and WV) in conference his percentage drops to 32.8%. Long's shooting percentage is 33.8% and 30.4 for three for the season. Both of these guys are going to have to raise their game for Texas to have a chance to win games the rest of the season. And that includes from the foul line where Febres is 61.5% and Long is 57.1%. I can understand the logic in Shaka saying Febres is a great shooter, but it's time to pull out all of the motivational options.
  6. His final four team started the year ranked 4th. Elite 8 in 08 started at 15. Elite 8 in 06 started at 2nd. None of his other teams achieved anything higher.
  7. Agree. We are also making some adjustments like having Coleman in the middle of the zone and the zone collapses and he can pass out to wings. But the biggest thing in Texas' recent play is Ramey operating and shooting at a high level. And when Osetkowski goes ofer, we are not relying on him to create any offense as we did last year or earlier in the season.
  8. So with youttubetv, I can record films and am on the lookout for ones that have been overlooked or I haven't seen. As of now, I've got The Crowd, Dodsworth and Holiday checked. What other movies should be on the list?
  9. Barnes winning a championship means that he could do what he couldn't do here. So fuck him for not doing it here. And I don't think he will do it at Tennessee.
  10. Did anyone find it interesting that Hepa and Liddell played the final 7 seconds with the walk-ons? Smart has not done a good job in developing the freshman this year. Liddell should have been redshirted, if Smart wasn't going to use him. I think Hepa should have been used more frequently in the non-conference to get him acclimated to the speed of the game. Hayes and Ramey are just flat out better than Sims and Long, so credit to Shaka for moving them to the starting lineup. And unfortunately for Long, Texas is better with him not on the floor.

  12. Three night ago I was at a disco You suck my blood like a leech This is the story of a mixed-up teen If the wife and I are fussin, brother that's our right There are some things you can't cover up with lipstick and powder No one knows what it's like Je suis un rock star
  13. Two small but crucial things ticked me off and both coach and player are to blame. On a close ISU shot, DO makes the move to the baseline to grab the made shot, but the ISU player misses the shot and is able to easily get the offensive rebound and put it in. DO traps the perimeter player on the high side (towards midcourt) and allows his player to have a wide open shot.

  15. +Matewan. I was surprised at how parts of Sorry to Bother You was traditional. And all of your three additives are fine movies.
  16. The Third Man Breaker Morant Trainspotting The Philadelphia Society Do the Right Thing The Treasure of the Sierra Madre Chinatown Matewan Spirited Away Young Frankenstein Certainly not a movie expert, but these movies are the best to me. From being a fan of Graham Greene to seeing some in Hogg auditorium on a big screen to having early morning discussions after watching it at midnight and part of these were from watching with my kids.
  17. Having paid for this shiny new appliance we expected to work as advertised, until we get it home and turns out to be a piece of junk, but we keep using it because of how much we paid. Well, two points. 1) do we deserve another appliance and we don't really know whether the next appliance will work satisfactory? 2) the appliance is just in second gear, let's see if it gets into the next gear. Sunk costs v. wishful thinking = different tolerance levels
  18. I can understand your historical point of view, but let me say what the fuck does it matter. If Smart's results are essentially equal to the last years of Barnes then he deserves to get fired. And it doesn't matter what Texas fans deserve. If the current coach isn't passing muster then you get another one and that's the way it is at any school. I don't know which coach Texas could reasonably get and it's a crap shoot on getting the right one, but I'd want one that would kick Dylan's ass for loafing last night. Of all the problems with this team, effort should be the easiest one to fix. I've criticized Osetkowski and Roach for not having much basketball IQ, but when that is combined with lack of effort by your team leaders (seniors), then that reveals a toxic atmosphere and it is time for the coach to go. Again, who gives a fuck what the fans deserve or think. This is a decision to be made by the AD.
  19. How does this Tennessee team rank among Barnes best teams at Texas or Clemson? I saw them in person get beat by Loyola and predicted it based on seeing Barnes' prior teams under perform in the tourney, but haven't seen this year's version.
  20. My theory on Texas' competitiveness is that good teams will play their style against Texas. Hall of Fame coaches are not breaking down opponents in non-conference regular season games. UNC will always run the secondary break and play poor defense. Texas has enough athletes to be competitive in an open game. Exception last year at WV where the guards could not handle the pressure. Average teams with good coaches will combat Texas' athleticism by compacting the lane and making Texas shoot outside. Similar to bunkering in soccer but Texas doesn't have the game plan to unlock these defenses and you get games like Radford and so on. Tonight's game should be interesting as TCU under Dixon has beaten Texas three out of four (only loss was double OT game last year), but they don't have depth this year.
  21. I'll take this guy. https://theathletic.com/762393/2019/01/16/nate-oats-future-is-tbd-but-the-buffalo-coachs-present-is-pretty-great/
  22. Just saw this recently too. Mason sprechen sie deutsch pretty darn well. Also saw East of Eden on Netflix. A failing of mine is that I could only see Raymond Massey as Boris Karloff.
  23. Good: Osetkowski started rolling rather than pop. Once he rolls, it not only creates more space on the perimeter, but offside defense helps creating space for an open 3. We don't always hit the open 3, but it's a good shot. Or is this bad, because he only half-rolled sometimes and spent plenty of time popping as well. Fair: Better offensive rebounding in first half. Sims had 7 rebounds overall. And then let McCormack get 3 in second half. Bad: Mitrou-Long's defense. He gave up too many offensive drives that resulted in easy shots. Didn't see Tech game, but he gave up key offensive drive in OSU game in last 3 minutes, when OSU could barely score. KU shot nearly 54%. And the dreck at the end.
  24. I'm all for hiring Keatts. I like the intensity his teams play with. Also, as an added bonus--NC State would go after Barnes and he may leave to be home and play in the ACC again. Maybe Tennesse would look to hire another UT coach. And I would laugh my ass off.
  25. I'm going for the angle of Texas doing so well in conference and tourney that UCLA hires him away. Win-Win on both counts.
