  1. Dunlap on OB said he counted 4 missed tackles for Hill on Saturday. Was not a good day for him.
  2. I've given up hope on the band being featured in-game/during timeouts, but at least they aren't doing a billion ad reads like the old days or have an annoying "in-game host".
  3. It was 3rd down when he fumbled, right? I assume we would have gone for it on that 4th and 1 yard or whatever it would have been. The game script was so odd for about the first 3 quarters, especially the first half where Mississippi State had the ball the entire time. We ran 5 total run plays in the first half (6 if you include an Arch sack): Blue 1-yard TD, Blue 4-yards, Blue fumble loss of a yard, Wisner loss of 3 yards, Blue 4-yards. I believe it ended up being 6 carries for 3 yards. So the second half was 26 carries for 195 yards, which is much more in line with what we expected coming into the game.
  4. Did Justice Finkley even see the field yesterday? Also, I thought it was interesting they got Vasek in there when the game was still somewhat in question. He seems to be gaining more trust.
  5. Can we please stop the PA guy trying to do a mini Texas Fight cheer after every first down?
  6. The weekly illegal snap penalty has to be built into the gameplan at this point.
  7. He said postgame that they already planned on going for it if it was 4th and less than 5 following the 3rd down play, so once the offsides made it 4th and 3 there was no hesitation. Added he won’t apologize for being aggressive in those spots because that’s the mindset he wants the players to have. Hindsight is always 20/20. We convert and score a TD and everyone loves the decision or forgets their uneasiness about it. It was just a very poor play call for the situation.
  8. I didn’t hate the decision to go for it. We were averaging like 9 yards a play at that point and were facing very little resistance. The call was just poor. Have a higher percentage play ready. I’m pretty sure we ran that exact stupid play on 4th down against UH last year and it was also incomplete.
  9. Arch was so damn good today. Some of the bad stuff that happened at other positions will be focus but that was an awesome performance throwing the ball. Accuracy, anticipation, deep ball, etc. It’s going to be so fun to watch him continue to develop.
  10. FCB on Ewers Ewers practiced all week and is probably at "80 to 85 percent" healthy following the injury he suffered at the 12:19 mark of the second quarter against UTSA on Sept. 14, according to a source close to the situation. That source said Ewers wants to play against Mississippi State "to resume the season he's having and lead this team." Another source said it's "50-50" whether Texas coach Steve Sarkisian will play Ewers on Saturday. "It will be a game-time decision," the source said. "If it was OU, 100 percent Quinn would be playing. But giving him two more weeks of recovery makes a lot of long-term sense, too."
  11. Moro Ojomo wasn't even born yet when Rising started his college career
  12. There is a reason certain SEC schools are reluctant to move to 9 conference games (in addition to all the other TV money stuff). It takes away an extra non-conference win (probably their November FCS opponent) and schools that would normally ride the SEC coattails to a "respectable" 7-5 season or bowl eligibility on the backs of 3-1 or 4-0 non-conference slates are now missing bowls.
  13. They are certainly saying all the right stuff about Ewers. I see the sides to both arguments, but I think you play him if he feels good and the medical staff gives the thumbs up. If he was truly practicing today, even if it was in a limited capacity, that tells me he is pretty far along from when the injury occurred. I doubt they would let him do much, if any, rotational work if they were concerned about aggravating the abdomen/oblique. I am not a big fan of holding guys out who would be playing if it was a "bigger game". You are also talking about a guy who has now missed a game for the 3rd straight season and I think there is some value in him showing he can rebound quickly. The re-injury risk is a concern, but there are a million things injury-related that could happen in a football game that could be bad for him and are just as likely to happen against OU as against Mississippi State. If the trainers feel like it is healed, he can't get "extra healed". Of course, it would be great if he was only needed for 2.5 quarters if he does play.
  14. Good ole Coleman Hutzler having a rough go in his first year as Mississippi State's DC.
  15. That one was in the second half. The one I was referencing was the first half when we fair caught the punt at like the 45, made them rekick then Bolden did the crazy return where he ran 40 yards to gain about 10 yards with a block in the back at the end to push us back to the 25.
  16. I guess. We are trying way too hard on the entire punt return operation right now. Bolden seems to be forcing returns trying to make stuff happen.
  17. One decision I didn’t understand last night was on the punt in the first half where ULM was called for illegal formation but the punt was a terrible one and set us up with great field position. We accepted the penalty and made them rekick and it ended up costing us about 20 yards. That penalty can be declined right? Not sure if the 5 yards could just be tacked on to the end of the kick but surely we could just take the result of the play, which is what we should have done.
  18. He got called for the block in the back on Hill’s interception return. He doesn’t have the stats but I still think he is doing some good things. Probably still fair to have expected a bit more at this point.
  19. OU started Davis Beville over Booty against Texas in 2022, so I know which one I am leaning toward. But everything you mentioned is probably true.
  20. Anwar Richardson reporting on OB that Kelvin Banks was limited in practice this week with a minor shoulder injury and is a game-time decision for Saturday.
  21. Those are the updated rankings. They took out all the guys who signed.
  22. So 5 real noncon games (Ohio State, UConn, NC State, and the two games in Brooklyn). I'll chalk up Uconn as a probable L. I've seen Ohio State in some 'in consideration for top 25' lists but haven't seen them in any top 25's. That should be a good test to open the season. NC State on the road could be somewhat tricky but on paper Texas should win that game. Syracuse is very meh with a likely matchup against Tech if we win that game. 11-2 is very doable in noncon and would be a solid start to the year. Anything better would be a very good sign.
  23. OL deep dig from UTSA (via Dunlap on OB)
  24. The OP said replacing guys at NB, S and CB so I thought he was inferring that. I don't share that opinion. He is a guy who probably needs to come back as things currently stand.
