  1. If you take out the 12-yard run on the final play of the first half and the last series of the game where Steve Sarkisian’s son was playing linebacker, CSU had 28 rushes for 89 yards. 3.1 yards a carry. They may have popped a few 7 or 8 yarders but it wasn’t doing much either. Longest rush of the day was 13 yards.
  2. I thought Sark made a good point postgame. We all expected CSU to be this air-raid team that would try to go fast and throw it as many time as possible and they ended up trying to play the time of possession game to limit our offensive touches. They huddled the entire game. It was almost a complete 180 from what we expected and may have taken a quarter or so to adjust but it was never in doubt.
  3. Well, hearing him reference Kevin Durant a couple of times when talking about Tre Johnson certainly will help the hype train. I know we've had plenty of 5-stars before but I think the skillset Johnson has is special for a freshman. This isn't just an athletic freak who is a 5-star because of testing numbers.
  4. They start off with a smaller number of 5-star and expand the list closer to signing day. I actually think it's solid reasoning. There are always going to be a handful of guys who are no-doubt 5-stars but once you get past the obvious 10-15, having senior film available is helpful in figuring out the last handful of spots.
  5. Sonny Shipp (LSU 247) trying to justify Jaime Ffrench picking Texas tomorrow --- Jaime Ffrench is set to reveal his choice on Friday and everyone I've spoken to who covers recruiting nationally and with the respective schools in the race feels it will be Texas. Like with Williams, this feels like another case of Texas and LSU going head-to-head. But unlike Williams, Ffrench does not have the ties to the Lone Star State that will have a strong influence. Those ties are with LSU and Miami, and in the end, I see those two battling it out for his signature when November and December arrive.
  6. Their scholarship counts, but most will bounce to a junior college (most guys cut are underclassmen) for the spring semester. A few will hang it up and enjoy student life.
  7. I may have mentioned it before, but WR will be mighty interesting in 2026. You got Chris Stewart already committed, then legacies like Jalen Lott and Kaydon Finley who you would think will be in the class at this point. Surely they will also go big game hunting nationally for a guy or two.
  8. Wasn’t Murray hooking up with the wife of one of his former OU teammates at the end his NFL career? The details are a little fuzzy but I remember him being put on blast on twitter with text screenshots. He isn’t even a good recruiter so him being slapped with NCAA penalties is hilarious. Same guy who “lost” Camar Wheaton’s phone number in the two weeks leading up to signing day.
  9. I know. I'm just pointing it out because I think this will serve as a little bit more of an opening-game test than facing Rice last year, who could barely throw a forward pass with JT Daniels and averaged 3.4 yards per play. At least we should be able to have somewhat meaningful takeaways in this one, specifically in the secondary.
  10. 20 of 22 starters in at least their 3rd year in the program. Veteran group. I thought it was interesting Sark said yesterday his goal is to get you in the game in the first half if you are in the two-deep. Hard to envision a 56-7 type blowout if they are rotating that early and often unless CSU is turning the ball over left and right.
  11. New DT on the radar (Justin Wells) Malcolm Simpson, DL, Hitchcock (Texas) – 2025 Nebraska commit The 6-foot-3, 255-pound four-star and the No. 18 defensive lineman according to On3, is pledged to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. But the Longhorns have their eyes on a flip. Texas DT coach Kenny Baker has recently connected with Simpson, who previously was at Galveston Ball with UT commit Jonah Williams. Now, the 409 area prospect says he’s open to a trip to Austin. “I’m solid with Nebraska, but I love Texas,” Simpson told Inside Texas. “I would love to come up to a visit and watch a game, and check some things out.” Simpson holds offers from USC, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, USC, and Baylor. But a Texas offer might change everything. “I honestly just spoke with them,” said Simpson. “(Baker) just told me keep doing what I’m doing and keep putting in work to get bigger. They all seem like real stand up guys and coaches.” His combination of size and athleticism is noticeable, as the multi-sport prospect notched 58 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one safety over the last two seasons. Simpson is the No. 265 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the country’s No. 24 defensive lineman and the No. 37 recruit in the Lone Star State.
  12. Nahlin put in a flip pick for Myron Charles to Texas. 60% confidence.
  13. I thought Robinson was one with the great story of decommitting from Texas, committing to Bama and calling Bo Davis on NSD while he was still employed at Texas to ask for help filling out his Bama letter of intent? Davis ended up at Bama the following year (2014).
  14. Slightly off topic: The weather was crappy and it was a tough day to throw, but I also wonder if the in-helmet communication has coaches thinking about slowing games down so they can talk to the QB all the way up to the 15 second mark on the play clock when communication cuts off. Add this to the running clock on first downs introduced last year. Will be interesting to monitor the first few weeks to see if a trend develops.
  15. I mentioned it in a thread last week but CSU allowed 13 total sacks last year. They aren’t going to let their QB sit back and try to go through progressions.
  16. The 32.5 point spread is interesting. Lots of ways Texas could control the game and still potentially not cover. We should be able to move the ball at will against these guys. They lost quite a bit on defense. I’ll be paying the most attention to the secondary. This is the only true Air Raid team we will play this year so it’s a unique matchup and Horton is legit at WR. If we show good communication and are contesting lots of throws, it’s a good sign. I expect CSU to be throwing underneath a ton.
  17. My pretty educated guess is loyalty points for donations.
  18. Just glad we were able to overcome the powerful Michael Earley impact
  19. Caleb Bell (recent DL offer committed to Arkansas) just stopped Dia Bell on a 2 point conversion attempt to tie the game. Has looked good all night.
  20. So this begs the question why did he commit to Texas over LSU in the first place then? Nothing changed in the 30 days he was committed for.
  21. Your overall point stands, but it was really 2 top-level guys, at least based on hype. Bond and Golden were the headliners, but some people here and other places were wondering what Silas Bolden was even doing coming to Texas. He was ranked outside the top 100 in the portal rankings for both 247 and On3. When it was hinted in the spring that a transfer may be portaling back out many people tried to guess Bolden. I have a feeling we are going to be pretty damn happy we brought him in.
  22. So because the DL room will be thin after the season, we should stop recruiting highly talented players at another room that is likely to lose a lot of talent as well? Buying high-level portal WRs every offseason ain't cheap. There is a benefit to signing and developing your own.
