  1. The season could end today. Volantis is available for a whole lot longer than just an inning. It was 35 relatively low stress pitches and he has been stretched out.
  2. Of course it’s all relative. LSU has one regular who hit lower than .236 in SEC play. We have 4, and 3 of them are multi-year starters.
  3. That we don’t have another SS on the roster because we have 2 sac bunts all year and they both came from Jayden Duplantier.
  4. I’m not sure the point you are trying to make. At the current moment, 1/3rd of this lineup would struggle mightily to start for any SEC team outside of Missouri or South Carolina. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t improve or get better next year. I’m speaking to the state of things currently as of June 1st. This team found ways the last 3 months and I am glad they won 22 SEC games. But we all acknowledged during the season we were winning despite some pretty large holes in various places.
  5. Do you think they are willingly playing Rodriguez over Mendoza at second base? Mendoza physically can’t play the field and Rodriguez isn’t a good defensive second or third baseman so not sure why we believe he will magically be a better SS while also playing with pretty much one hand. Nothing signals panic to your locker room like benching the guy who has played every inning at SS this year in an elimination game.
  6. Jim Schlossnagle runs the offense. Tulo spends a lot of time in the cages working on mechanical and swing stuff but Schlossnagle is the one instilling the approach and gameplan he wants. And Jim Schlossnagle ain’t changing his approach so we will need to ride out whatever the rest of this season holds then hope we upgrade personnel in several spots and guys get more comfortable in year 2.
  7. -The decision to not go straight to Volantis in the 6th with 2 outs, only to turn to him to start the 7th down 2 runs, was mind blowing. -The offense shit the bed the second half the game but a 6-1 lead in the 6th should be a win 98% of the time. -1/3rd of this starting lineup is not occupied by a SEC caliber player. -Tulo ain’t getting fired and I don’t think he should be given the point I made above but the fact his star pupil is borderline unplayable as a 3rd starter is ridiculous.
  8. UTSA going with their #3 starter who is a lefty over their best starter statistically is very interesting. Wonder if Owens could come out of the pen like in the Tuesday night game against us.
  9. I have a theory on guys like Walker that he may cause more problems for big boy teams who don’t see 84 MPH fastballs…ever? But he may not be as effective against teams from the Southland who see that velo more often. We’ll see. HCU also starts quite a few left handed bats so it could still be a good spot for him regardless.
  10. Was the HCU midweek the one where we had a shutout and Winfield dropped the routine fly ball to end it and we had to play another inning? Or am I thinking of another game?
  11. I don’t think UTRGV is getting in with a RPI in the 40’s and only 2 Q1 wins. That is a very weak resume for a Southland team considering the stolen bids the last few days.
  12. I would be shocked if the #6 RPI team (Oregon State) with 11 Q1 wins is the 15 or 16 seed.
  13. This article was just made free if you have 5-10 minutes to read about how bad things are at South Carolina
  14. I am really hoping we don't get Oklahoma State as our 3. They are playing well to end the season and have 2 really good front-line starting pitchers.
  15. LSU vs A&M is going to be very interesting on a number of levels. If LSU loses today, their RPI is going to fall all the way to #14, and I am not sure they get a top 8 with an RPI that low. Obviously, if A&M loses, their season is over, and that would be glorious. Good day for hate watching.
  16. The biggest complaint on here the last month was watching too many early pitches.
  17. We have a 23% K rate this year. A&M was 22% last year and that lineup was miles better than this one and they still struck out a crap ton. It is part of the offense. Eventually people will accept it. We make 27 outs in a game and this staff has openly said they are willing to have a lot of those be strikeouts in exchange for more walks and driving up pitch count.
  18. Mississippi State was run ruled in both their SEC tournament games in 2021.
  19. A&M last year lost 2 of their final 3 SEC series and went 0-2 in this tournament and it turned out just fine.
  20. There is not much you can do there.
  21. Correct. And what’s the #1 bitching point? Approach and strategy. I don’t think the hitting coach is Tommy Farmer and Casey Borba’s problem. They couldn’t hit Big 12 pitching last year. These guys are coaches, they ain’t miracle workers.
  22. Our hitting coach is our head coach.
  23. Arvidson pitched in their game yesterday and we are letting him do this
  24. Alright we’ve had our fun. Put in Duplantier and let’s head back to Austin.
  25. This Tennessee pitcher was committed to us last year out of junior college. Unfortunately he was also run off at A&M by Schloss his freshman year so he wasn’t coming here to play for him.
