  1. 19-27 is what my quick math says. Again, not good. But if Sports Illustrated is going to have their name attached to something, you would think it would have been fact-checked before.
  2. I see why SI is in the shitter. David Pierce is 297-162 at Texas, how does that add up to over 550 games? They also have not played 43 games against the SEC and he has more than 16 wins. The record isn't good, but does it hurt to maybe run a Google check before publishing an article online?
  3. If you don't see the gaping holes on that roster I don't know what to tell you. Yes, I would be very pleased to welcome back Gasparino, Belyeu, Galvan and Schuessler from last year. But it gets pretty damn scary pretty damn fast after you get past those guys.
  4. If we assume Flores, Thomas, LBJ, Witt, Boehm and Duplantier are all gone, this is what the roster numbers look like for returning guys: C (4): Galvan, Schuessler, Service, Sanders INF (3): Borba, Kennedy, J. Duplantier OF (5): Gasparino, Belyeu, Cummings, Farmer, Peterson (redshirted) RHP (7): Grubbs, Howard (lol), Selvig, Hamilton, Tumis, O'Hara, Zaharias (hurt this year) LHP (5): Whitehead, Shaw, Santos (hurt this year), Harrison, Bertsch (redshirted) 24 total. Pretty depressing.
  5. Michigan has been 1 time in the last 40 years. I know we like to always like to take pride about what Texas did in the 50's, 60's and 70's but the entire tournament field was like 16 teams back in that day. 1999 is when super regionals were added and the field was expanded to 64 teams. That is about as important a change as college baseball has seen. Since that time (25 years), Michigan has been to one CWS and Clemson has been to 4. Texas has been 11 times (well below our 50% historical average actually now that I see that).
  6. We went through this same song and dance in football. Did Steve Sarkisian have a better resume than Tom Herman at the time of his hire? No, but the traits were there and the vision was in place to maximize those traits at a place like Texas. The exact same thing could be said for Bakich, although he's plenty of success at schools that just use baseball as a stopgap until football season.
  7. Florida is one of the most talented teams in the country, it was just a matter of if they were going to put it together in time. They barely did and now are reaping the rewards. It wasn't like Clemson lost to Evansville. Florida was the preseason #2 team in the country.
  8. How often are historic baseball programs like Michigan and Maryland making CWS trips?
  9. Their pitching will take a hit if Sdao is out for any length of time. They would have one starting pitcher if that were to happen. Cortes and Aschenbeck can fill in but that leaves a huge hole in the bullpen.
  10. Pretty sure he’s in an off field role. Just looked it up and his official title is “program development”. Sounds like a cushion retirement job.
  11. Gonna be funny when Bakich has to serve his two game suspension in a Texas uniform
  12. Bakich still feels most likely to me and I think he has the highest ceiling outside of the moneywhip candidates (Schloss, Johnson, etc). Only 46, SEC experience as an assistant, good recruiter, CWS experience and success and turned around Clemson in short order (regardless of what happens against Florida).
  13. After 2019 is when he brought in Yeskie from Oregon State. That’s another thing about Johnson that is elite. He assembles very high level staffs. Three of his assistants at LSU are already P5 head coaches. He is far and way one of the best recruiters in the country, even if you remove some of the NIL advantages he has. He is relentless on the recruiting trail. We bitch and moan about the talent level on this roster. Johnson would change that in a hurry. It may not equate to Omaha every year but we won’t have dudes throwing 86 out of the bullpen in high leverage spots.
  14. Taking the head S&C job with the Pistons, per Gerry
  15. Not really. If we are looking for a coach who has never had a down season in his career we are never going to find one.
  16. I'm pretty sure at this point last year we had 3 commitments and they were Trey Owens, Aeryn Hampton and Hunter Moddon.
  17. I think so. Football has two transfer windows, whereas baseball only has one.
  18. The portal is wide open right now for anyone on any team. Closes July 2nd.
  19. Yeah, Johnson feels like a pipedream. We would have to pay out the ass, both in salary and in NIL commitments to compare to what he currently has at LSU. He’s only 3 years in at LSU but maybe he hates it there for some reason and already wants out. That is the only scenario I see that involves him leaving because LSU will pay up.
  20. The one in front of the east campus garage? I read they stopped drop offs an hour or two before first pitch.
