  1. The 30 day portal window applies in baseball like it does in football. So they will have longer than July 2nd, both Texas and the school they hire from.
  2. Stadium/seating/crowd/capacity-based stuff needs to be separated out from actual baseball-related stuff. The issues related to the Disch have been well documented and lag behind a lot of SEC programs in certain areas. The baseball-related areas are a separate conversation. The new indoor is less than 5 years old and extremely nice. I've been inside. It has all the bells and whistles. Pitching lab, two-story weight room, alumni locker room, dining/nutrition area, etc. They just redid the coaches locker room in the last few years as well. No idea what the player's locker room looks like nowadays maybe that needs to be refreshed. The reality is in the NIL age, your facilities now rank about 4th or 5th in importance when making a decision. Whereas 5 years ago it may have been in the top 3. Do you want the new squat racks or do you want that 5 or 6-figure check going to NIL and we'll keep the old squat racks for another year or two?
  3. I'd have to think the state produces fewer 5-star DTs compared to any other position on the field, so it's already somewhat of an uphill battle to begin with because those guys usually reside in states like Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, etc. You do bring up a good point with JJA and there was David Hicks in 2023, although that one had the dad being the head coach of the A&M feeder school. I'm sure Bo has a way he wants to do things considering where he is at in his career, his previous stops, and his tendency to job-hop about every 3 years. I was definitely surprised he wasn't reeling in more high-end guys but DT is definitely the hardest position to recruit and probably has the most intense NIL battles due to supply and demand, which often involves factors outside of the position coach. Baker definitely didn't walk into the best situation, and some of the guys Bo laid the groundwork for Texas chose to just back off of completely, but Baker is paid to figure it out and deliver results.
  4. There definitely seemed to be a disconnect at the end (and I guess maybe all along) about the guys Bo preferred and the guys we needed/hoped to land. In the 2023 class didn’t we pass on multiple dudes who were ready to commit because we didn’t like their measurables which led to the one man class of Sydir Mitchell? Forgot the name, but there was that one we brought in super late for a visit in the cycle who was committed to WVU who we said no thanks to. I completely forgot about dudes like Ukpono and Guidry. Guidry seemed like a heavy Texas lean at the beginning of the cycle.
  5. I am pretty confident that the new hire will bring a lot of renewed excitement to the program/fanbase, regardless of who the name is. Not that people didn't care before, but I think some need a wake-up call before we head into the SEC. A&M dogpiling today or tomorrow would also be humbling. A lot is about to change. This isn't the 90's or early 2000's anymore.
  6. My favorite are the posts saying the exact day it will be announced. Monday? No, he’ll be partying at the Dixie chicken. Tuesday? That’s probably the day of the parade so hold tight. Wednesday? Probably a hangover day from the parade. Thursday? Alright let’s do this send out the press release.
  7. A&M is damn good but man have their benefited from teams forgetting how to play baseball this postseason: -SS forgets how to throw to first twice in the regional -Oregon coach allows a guy to walk 5 dudes in a row in the super regional with a big lead -Tennessee can’t throw accurately to the proper base
  8. Wells After catching up with Lufkin (Texas) four-star DT Zion Williams, he tells IT he will no longer be taking his official visit to Texas this weekend. He’s dealing with things outside the scope of football and asked the staff if he could reschedule his OV for the regular season, mentioning the Georgia game as possibility. The staff is more than happy to oblige Williams. Hell announce on July 4th and he’ll almost assuredly pick the LSU Tigers. Steve Sarkisian loves the long game and getting him on campus this fall might be better than late in June. LSU will have a target on its back.
  9. I’ll choose to believe he has the best poker face of all time
  10. Correct, unless it comes out they delayed Pierce’s firing for contract or buyout stuff which is unlikely. I still wouldn’t be too upset if we ended up with Bakich.
  11. Hopefully Bakich is still the floor of this thing. Even though it would be very odd his season has been over for two weeks.
  12. I have been pretty skeptical of this too, but the one thing that gives me pause is that I think Schlossnagle and CDC have a type of relationship where he would quietly tell CDC to stop if he was wasting his time. No agents or middlemen would need to be involved. It would just be one friend telling another friend that the timing isn't quite right or he chose to stay. Maybe that has happened and there is just a big smokescreen being put up, but considering I don't think Vitello is a serious candidate it really only leads to one conclusion.
  13. I think UH wanted to fire Whitting but his previous contract expired after 2023 and they felt the need to extend him for 3 years so he wasn't a total lame duck their first year in the Big 12. They backed themselves into a corner. UH and Rice will likely both be open after this upcoming season and Pierce would fit either, assuming he still wants to coach at 62.
  14. I feel like we see this in a lot of coaching searches. Someone name their one or two dream candidates then go off a cliff with their plan B options. "If we can't get Vitello or Schlossnagle, I guess we'll just be asking Ty Harrington to come out of retirement to bridge the gap til 2026." There are more than 1 or 2 guys who can big win at Texas.
  15. He was fired and they used some previous health stuff as a way to frame it as a leave of absence. Miller already has a job outside of baseball now. Some type of sales gig with Marucci I think.
  16. Their plate discipline is elite. Lead the country in walks and pitches per plate appearance. You will rarely ever see them unnecessarily chasing.
  17. That just isn’t a realistic path to winning a title in today’s game. You have to be able to swing it well. College baseball today is offense centric. The Texas offense this year was way too inconsistent against arms they shouldn’t have been inconsistent against. All phases need to get better.
  18. That and Omaha worthy teams don’t trot out Dee Kennedy and Porter Brown types in their lineup. Who is returning on this roster that would start at a Tennessee or A&M? Belyeu is one. Maybe Gasparino or Schuessler depending on the options available and that is it.
  19. Eh, there isn’t a Tommy White or Paul Skenes in the portal right now. The portal won’t be completely empty when the hire is made but there are some really good players who have already come off the board. I’ll withhold my opinion on what will be a successful season until the full roster comes together, but this team has a good number of holes right now.
  20. Thankfully we only have good fans at Texas who praise and uplift players and coaches at all times
  21. True, but I think Bobby’s info would hold more weight than some other random 9.95er considering his connections in the athletic department. That ranges outside of football too.
  22. I would hope at this point he has a better indication than that or else what has been going on the last 3 weeks? If we are just twiddling our thumbs waiting for the opportunity to finally talk to Schlossnagle after his season ends, this hasn’t been a very well run process. Also, no respectable candidate would allow this process to drag on two weeks after he tentatively accepted so the AD could check with other candidates to see if they may want the job.
