  1. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Pretty much half his production this year came in one game against Cal. It was a red flag when Kirby let him walk last year and Norvell happily took the bait. Georgia rarely lets the good ones walk away.
  2. I guess we'll never know. We are the only team with back-to-back playoff appearances, our two biggest rivals are stuck somewhere between inept and mediocrity, we just signed the #1 recruiting class in the country and we have Arch Manning waiting in the wings next year. If that sort of positive momentum can be erased in one game then there wasn't that much momentum to begin with.
  3. In the moment, yeah it would have been. Because that’s how we always are after big losses. Would it have been irrecoverable from for a coach? That feels a bit dramatic. Tony Bennett was the first coach to ever lose to a 16 seed in the NCAA tournament and won his only national title the next season.
  4. And Texas A&M is undefeated with 5 national titles in hypothetical scenarios.
  5. This is a pretty weird way to look at it. The fact the play happened and we won the game is pretty damn significant. Does anyone remember that Kansas’ record was in 2004? It was 4-7. Vince Young’s 4th and 18 run saved the day, setting up winning that game, beating a top 25 A&M team the next week and going to the Rose Bowl.
  6. IT on Noah Thomas Noah Thomas, a 6’6” wide receiver from Texas A&M, has entered the transfer portal, drawing significant interest from several top programs. In the 2024 season, Thomas recorded 39 receptions for 574 yards, averaging 14.7 yards per catch, and scored 8 touchdowns. His standout performances include a 5-catch, 124-yard game with 2 touchdowns against Auburn and a 6-catch, 109-yard effort with a touchdown against Arkansas. Thomas is originally from League City, Texas, and attended Clear Springs High School, where he first made a name for himself as a dynamic receiving threat. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, boasting an On3 rating of 89.28. He was ranked as the No. 65 wide receiver in the nation, the 57th player in the state of Texas, and 379th player nationally. His size, athleticism, and red-zone ability make him a highly coveted prospect. Programs such as USC, Miami, and Georgia are pursuing Thomas aggressively. Texas has also shown interest, having reviewed his film and reaching out to gauge interest. While Texas appears intrigued by what Thomas could bring to the program, they may not be as “all-in” on his recruitment as the other schools listed. The Longhorns’ level of involvement may depend on roster needs, how well Thomas fits into Coach Sarkisian’s system, and the competitive landscape of other offers. Miami could be an outlier in this recruitment due to questions surrounding its quarterback situation. Stability at the QB position is often a critical factor for wide receivers, and this uncertainty might affect Thomas’s decision-making process. Adding a player of Thomas’s caliber could enhance Texas’s receiving corps, particularly in red-zone situations and as a vertical passing threat. However, to secure his commitment, Texas will need to make a strong case in the face of intense competition from programs like USC and Georgia, who are likely offering aggressive NIL packages and emphasizing their offensive systems.
  7. I don’t think he is super comfortable throwing over the middle of the field. It’s probably why you don’t see a ton of traditional in breaking routes. Thinking about all the tipped balls and tight window throws. Doesn’t really seem like his strength.
  8. There was a kicker out of Westlake we flipped late last cycle who is on the roster as a walk-on, Spencer Barnett. I believe he was previously committed to Colorado State.
  9. That's when I knew we were likely in for a long day. Skattebo also pushed off of Taaffe on the long reception down the sideline.
  10. He was head up and his facemask made contact with the receiver's body/shoulder/whatever. He did not lead with the crown of the helmet.
  11. FWIW, someone on one of the 9.95 sites charted the run game and only 5 of our 22 RB runs were outside zone. 2 in the first half, 2 in the second half and 1 in OT.
  12. Bobby Burton mentioned this morning that several people told him ASU was calling out Texas' pre-snap cadence, causing multiple false starts. Goosby was seen several times trying to point it out.
  13. Yeah, throwing deep on 2nd and 4 with 6 minutes left and an 8-point need ain't protection mode. Neither is 3 straight passes out of the 2-minute warning when we are already in FG range (maybe I should adjust my expectations of what FG range is moving forward).
  14. Fong with a portal update that mentions Texas a few times. Texas A&M WR Noah Thomas Sources tell On3’s Steve Wiltfong and I expect Miami, Texas and Georgia to be in the mix for wide receiver Noah Thomas. The Aggies are doing everything they can to keep Thomas in the fold. USC WR Zachariah Branch Miami is currently hosting USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch and his brother, Zion, on a visit, a source tells On3’s Steve Wiltfong. The brothers have previously visited Georgia and Arizona State. Tennessee and Texas have also entered the mix. Tennessee WR Squirrel White Tennessee wide receiver Squirrel White is currently visiting Florida State, a source tells On3. It is White’s first visit since entering the transfer portal. Sources previously told On3 that White wants to play closer to home, and Florida State is expecting competition to land the SEC transfer. Arizona CB Tacario Davis Scheduled to visit Washington this week, a source tells On3 that Michigan, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas are all in the mix for Tacario Davis. Nebraska WR Isaiah Neyor After signing with Louisville on Wednesday night and later had the paperwork pulled, sources tell On3 that Isaiah Neyor is expected to be on campus on Thursday. The Cardinals have the momentum in this recruitment. Washington State DT David Gusta David Gusta will be at Texas A&M on Thursday, he tells On3’s Steve Wiltfong. From there he’s planning on getting to Kentucky and Tennessee. Florida State WR Malik Benson Tennessee and Oregon are preparing to host Florida State transfer wide receiver Malik Benson. He tells On3 he plans to visit the schools this weekend. Sources tell On3 that Kansas State is still in the mix for Benson. Tennessee defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins Jayson Jenkins is visiting Florida State on Thursday. He also has visited lined up to North Carolina and Texas Tech. Connecticut WR Skyler Bell Michigan recently had on campus Skyler Bell on campus and things appear to be trending the right way for Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines. Wisconsin RB Tawee Walker Tawee Walker is working on scheduling visits to Georgia and Cincinnati in the near future, his agent tells On3. South Dakota State RB Angel Johnson Sources tell On3 that Angel Johnson has received interest from Louisville, Tennessee and Washington State. He produced 1,134 all-purpose yards and 5 touchdowns for the Jackrabbits this season. Auburn is also expected to make a run at Johnson. Auburn defensive lineman TJ Lindsey TJ Lindsey is coming off a Purdue visit and is scheduled to arrive at Nebraska on Friday. Iowa State defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim Tyler Onyedim is currently at Texas A&M. The Aggies are battling Notre Dame, SMU and Texas for him, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.
  15. It’s been discussed at length how Ewers appears to be much more comfortable throwing outside the numbers than the middle of the field into more traffic.
  16. One team had to run 97 plays to get over 500 yards. The other had multiple possessions stolen on a punt return TD and an idiotic 1-play safety. This game goes a whole lot deeper than total yardage. Both the good and the bad.
  17. Our previous 5 runs before the pass went for 6, 1, 3, 4, 0. Our longest RB run of the day was 7 yards. Quinn Ewers had our second longest run. Look, the pass wasn’t the correct call in hindsight but we weren’t exactly running at will and I’m sure he was expect his 3rd year starter to not throw into double coverage.
  18. The Kentucky game where we ran the ball 15 straight times on our final possession?
  19. Every fan of every team thinks their coach isn’t a good gameday coach outside of maybe Kirby. Lanning is too aggressive, Day turtles, the list goes on and on. I enjoyed Herman’s gameday coaching when he green lighted a zero blitz on 3rd and 17 against LSU. Or when he would kick 19 yard field goals. Or when we allowed Tech, Kansas, Tulsa (!), Kansas State and Baylor to erase sizable first half leads in 2018. Or when he came out in the 2019 and 2020 OU games running bubble screens and HB swing passes.
  20. I didn’t like throwing deep on the 2nd and 4 with 6 minutes left but I also wonder if Bond was the primary read that play. They had Golden coming on an over route that looked open on TV. I also would have hoped our 3rd year starting QB would know risking throws into double coverage in that spot is ridiculous. Hell, a sack would have been better. Ewers made the plays when we needed him though.
  21. No they didn’t. 40 of the 510 came in OT. It took 97 plays and OT to get to 510 yards.
  22. Sometimes, I am truly amazed that there are living, breathing humans typing stuff like this. It kind of worries me, actually.
  23. What is your definition of a top tier offense? I just want to know what you are judging it off of. Points per game? Yards per game? Yards per play? SP+ ranking? Eyeball test?
  24. This is a really weird way to look at things. If he transfers and plays better next year it will probably be because he didn’t get hurt for the 5th straight season and has started 40 college games. We have 20 years of data points on Sarkisian’s offense and QB development. We are a very good offense with Quinn Ewers. I guess the indictment of the offense would be we have….a very good offense? Is it an indictment of his QB development that another program paid Ewers $6 million to come play for them, allowing us to start a guy named Arch Manning? He probably doesn’t throw the ball much because he’s played 7 non-garbage time snaps since September.
