  1. No they didn’t. 40 of the 510 came in OT. It took 97 plays and OT to get to 510 yards.
  2. Sometimes, I am truly amazed that there are living, breathing humans typing stuff like this. It kind of worries me, actually.
  3. What is your definition of a top tier offense? I just want to know what you are judging it off of. Points per game? Yards per game? Yards per play? SP+ ranking? Eyeball test?
  4. This is a really weird way to look at things. If he transfers and plays better next year it will probably be because he didn’t get hurt for the 5th straight season and has started 40 college games. We have 20 years of data points on Sarkisian’s offense and QB development. We are a very good offense with Quinn Ewers. I guess the indictment of the offense would be we have….a very good offense? Is it an indictment of his QB development that another program paid Ewers $6 million to come play for them, allowing us to start a guy named Arch Manning? He probably doesn’t throw the ball much because he’s played 7 non-garbage time snaps since September.
  5. This seems out of LF. Spiegelman posted on rivals he put in a pick for Texas over UGA. Gaad just posted his junior year hudl http://www.hudl.com/v/2RMnk4
  6. A few people have mentioned the Washington State DT that entered the portal several weeks ago. Pete Nakos posted an update on him: Washington State DL David Gusta David Gusta is the No. 2 ranked player in the Transfer Portal at his position per the On3 Industry. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, he’s weighing a return to Washington State or visiting Oklahoma State
  7. The other interviews are solid, but hearing Tashard Choice talk at the beginning was awesome. You can see why he is such a good recruiter.
  8. I’d have to search to find the exact quote but Banks said something today about how they haven’t felt the need to take as many risks this year with special teams. They definitely haven’t been as aggressive going after punts. Maybe that truly was the Keilan Robinson show the last 3 years.
  9. Mercer is just now about 12 months removed from surgery so it won’t surprise me if he is a little behind when things get started. I agree with what you said about Rodriguez and I would place a bet that he starts as things stand today. The fact he switch hits brings a lot more versatility to the lineup that really only has 2 lefties right now (Belyeu and Winfield). I also think they want Rodriguez to be their SS in 2026 so getting his feet wet will be a plus. I heard Schuessler was the best hitter on the team during the fall. I am wondering if the staff sees Riojas in a similar light as how they used Aschenbeck at A&M. They probably could have started Aschenbeck, but having him available to give you several multiple inning outings a week really maximized his impact. He could come in the 5th inning or the 9th and the game was pretty much over.
  10. LHP Cooper Powell, OF Seth Werchan, LHP Brandon Bertsch, OF Casey Cummings, and 1B Walker Polk are no longer on the roster as they trim things down before practice starts in a few weeks. None of them are super surprising.
  11. IIRC he got hurt on his lone punt against Mississippi State. He wasn't ready off the bye, so he missed OU and came back against Georgia, but it sounds like he was never 100%.
  12. Their loss to Cincy was bad, but Leavitt was hurt and Jeff Sims is one of the worst backups in P5 football. They outgained Tech but got down 14-0 early and went 0-3 on 4th down and couldn't claw all the way back.
  13. It is. I found my post from last year. That one was the path to 10-8 and we finished 9-9 We didn't sweep WVU but swept OU to make up for it. We hit what was needed in the final two groups but the stupid loss to UCF kept us from 10-8.
  14. I did a similar post last year before conference play. Path to 9 conference wins: Must win 3 of 4 against the bottom of the league (3)- Missouri, at South Carolina, at LSU, at Vandy Need to go 4-3 against the homes and homes we have + Georgia (4): OU x2, Arkansas x2, A&M x2, Georgia Split the road games at Mississippi schools (1)- at Miss State, at Ole Miss Pray we get hot from 3 and steal one as a big underdog (1)- Auburn, Tennessee, at Florida, Bama, Kentucky
  15. The 5 day extension applies to teams in normal bowl games as well, so it’s a lot more than 7 teams.
  16. Gerry made a comment this morning that Cam Williams has been dealing with a lingering knee/leg issue prior to getting rolled up on against Clemson. He made it sound like Williams was already set to have some sort of clean up procedure done after the season.
  17. From OU's On3 site According to SoonerScoop.com sources, there could be other staff departures coming soon. On both sides of the ball. The name to watch on the defensive side of the ball is Jay Valai. Oklahoma’s cornerbacks coach since 2022, Valai could be a candidate elsewhere for a defensive coordinator position. On the offensive side of the ball, it should surprise no one if tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley and running backs coach DeMarco Murray moved on from Norman. The two OU football alums could be looking for opportunities elsewhere. Finley could be a candidate for OC jobs at the Group of Five level. Or he could jump to another tight end job elsewhere. And according to sources, that would likely be a mutual departing. As for Murray, he will likely get calls from the NFL when the NFL regular season concludes. A jump to the league would not be surprising. He has garnered interest from several organizations in recent years, including the Las Vegas Raiders. Many inside the program expected Murray to be back in 2025 with the Sooners. And that still could hold true, but it feels as though anything is on the table for Murray right now. With all of these potential departures from the coaching staff, don’t be surprised if any new players jump in the portal. Linebacker Lewis Carter unexpectedly got in the portal on Sunday. OU staff members, such as Brandon Hall, Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis, have been trying to hold this ship together since Alley’s departure. And on offense, the charge has mostly been led by new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle. Alley’s departure, and the potential for other departures, raise serious questions about the stability inside the Switzer Center and the overall operations and structure of the program. Under Alley, the future was bright on the defensive side of the ball. At the time of his hiring, it was thought Venables would be able to step away from his unofficial role as head coach/defensive coordinator. That he would let Alley take over the reins of the defense. In turn, Venables would be able to focus more on the details of being a head coach. But the failures of the offense and the hiring of Seth Littrell overshadowed everything in 2024. Now, Venables has to stabilize the program. Which is beginning to look like a more difficult task than anyone previously thought.
  18. He can score and shoot the 3. With how much defense is played in the NBA nowadays, he’ll be just fine.
  19. Clemson site is reporting Dabo is basically pushing out his DC (Goodwin) and to look for him to land at OU https://theclemsoninsider.com/2024/12/28/latest-on-goodwin-dc-plan-at-clemson/#
  20. Tyrese Hunter 0-6 from the field and 0-5 from 3 deep into the second half against Ole Miss.
  21. All is well. One of their highest rated 2024 recruits (Davon Mitchell) admitting he isn’t good at football right now.
  22. They brought in the QB transfer from Western Carolina earlier this week. I don't know why Hawkins would stay to compete for the backup job. But I also don't think he will have many starting jobs waiting for him elsewhere. He isn't very good.
  23. It feels like the quality in the portal isn’t quite what we’ve seen the last few years at a similar point in the calendar. A lot of factors in play with the expanded playoff and revenue sharing coming up, but I think I personally underestimated this being one of the quietest coaching carousels in a while. Not as many head coaches getting fired. especially P4 guys, which usually is tied with player movement. On the flip side it could set up for a wild 2025 portal cycle with how many programs are entering the season with coaches on the hot seat.
