  1. This Hawaiian dude hit like .800 against us in 4 games last year edit: yep
  2. Thomas has a weird obsession with that feet first only touch the corner of the plate slide
  3. He’s probably safe but I don’t think this will be overturned
  4. Yes. Problem is harder he throws less idea he has where it’s going and it straightens out the sinker.
  5. OU up on Cincy 6-2 in game 1 of their doubleheader. If Cincy drops both, Texas can finish no lower than 5th. Win tonight, and Cincy loses both; we can finish no worse than 4th.
  6. Gerry commented this morning on the OTF website that it's possible Texas tries to get both Toppin and the UCLA transfer from Turkey. He reiterated Texas is all-in on Toppin.
  7. They definitely play in a launching pad. 300 down the line to RF, 310 to LF and 400 to CF. They've had an interesting year. Only 15-12 in the ACC and outside of Chase Burns, their pitching has been extremely shaky considering what they returned. 16-14 vs Q1 and Q2 teams on the season. Texas is 17-11.
  8. Santa Barbara was posting it on their social media channels. They are in one of the more notable leagues outside of the Cape Cod League so they have good coverage/social media presence. You usually have to wait until the summer season actually starts to find out where everyone else goes.
  9. The weather looks pretty dicey tomorrow. The last thing you want on the final weekend before a short turnaround to the Big 12 tournament is a doubleheader.
  10. They had to move the championship game from Sunday to Saturday because of BYU entering the conference. So now they start Tuesday instead of Wednesday. Of course BYU didn’t even qualify for the thing this year but that extra day of rest at the end should be helpful for whoever has to play 5 or 6 games.
  11. Looks like 02 and 09 were the only years where we won both the regular season title and tournament title. 10 regular season titles and 5 tournament titles overall. Completely forgot about that 2015 team. They were so bad all year then had 3 complete games in a row to start the Big 12 tournament.
  12. Out of curiosity, I just went down a rabbit hole and looked up the last 10 national champions and how they did in their conference tournament. Obviously, not because I think Texas is winning it all, but it was interesting to see the randomness of the results. 23 (LSU): 1-2, lost in quarterfinals 22 (Ole Miss): 0-1, lost in first round 21 (Miss State): 0-2, run-ruled both games 19 (Vandy): 4-0, SEC Champs 18 (Oregon State): No PAC12 tournament at this point 17 (Florida): 2-1, 16-0 loss in semifinals 16 (Coastal Carolina): 4-0, won Big South Tournament 15 (Virginia): 1-3, didn't advance out of pool play 14 (Vandy): 1-2, loss in quarterfinals 13 (UCLA): No PAC12 tournament The 2002 Texas team won the Big 12 tourney, 2005 Texas team went 2-2 and lost in the semifinals. 2004 team also went 2-2.
  13. Not 2024 related but Dee Kennedy, Hudson Hamilton, Easton Tumis and Nik Sanders are all headed to play in Santa Barbara this summer. That summer team/league has been good to us in the past for helping develop young guys. Dylan Campbell, Max Belyeu, Jalin Flores and Rylan Galvan all played on that team in recent years.
  14. Still a more valuable degree than graduating from Texas Tech
  15. My understanding is he took care of it at some point in the last two years.
  16. He wants to stay involved and keep his name front and center for job openings. That was the primary motivation for returning. The year off last year was okay but stay out of the game too long and it could hurt you. His current role also allows him to stay in Austin with some flexibility if he wants to go watch his 10-year-old son play or gets tied up with something else versus being a paid assistant who is dealing with recruiting, being at very game/team function, etc He isn't the traditional assistant working his way up the ladder and he knows it. The guy turned down USC two years ago. I am 99% confident his next move will be to run his own program, not be a paid assistant for someone else. He is just waiting for the right opportunity. Just my .02.
  17. It was worse last year by a fair amount. Hell, we won the damn thing with 15 wins which is the fewest ever. Only one team hosted and they went 0-2 in their own regional. As mentioned above, there are way more middle of the pack teams this year. Cincy and UCF coming in and holding their own helped. TCU deciding to no-show this year did not help the overall perception.
  18. Only team in the conference to not have a sweep or have been swept. Then you have OU who has swept 6 series.
  19. My guess is the 2024 class ends up more in the 8-10 range. We have a few no doubt 1st round picks who aren’t showing up on campus who are helping that class ranking right now.
  20. It will probably be felt more in the portal. I know there were several kids we were in on in recent years out of the portal who liked Texas but they wanted to play their final year or two where the eyeballs and competition were (SEC).
  21. All 3 are/were good. And the upcoming classes are good but probably can’t be fully judged til after the draft. Pitching was light in numbers in 22/23 but is heavy in numbers in 24/25. Caleb Longley is the best hire Pierce has made in his tenure and has helped secure several good classes. He is a volume recruiter and great hitting coach. Him and Tulo are tight and my fear the last two offseasons was if Tulo popped up somewhere Longley would be going with him. I hope he is retained regardless of who is in charge moving forward.
  22. What people have said about him always finding a way to do well with the hand he is dealt is 100% true. That is a sign of a good coach. He just likes to deal himself 12’s and 13’s when playing blackjack.
  23. Now would be a great time for some life from PB
  24. Threw 40 pitches Friday and asking him to go 3 full innings is a lot.
