  1. Spread was -19.5 so not Mississippi Valley State level.
  2. I wonder if Mitchell (or his people) took a look around at his market and said just kidding. I’d assumed he would be heading back closer to home to Syracuse or Rutgers or some such.
  3. Both USC and Florida On3 mods said Keeshawn Silver (Kentucky DT transfer) is asking for 7 figures. Florida apparently offered him well below that so it might come down to USC vs Michigan.
  4. OU is down so bad. JV coaching staff.
  5. Kern ranks 132nd in Net punting nationally. That has been the weakest part of the team from the moment the ball kicked off against Colorado State. I don’t say that to excuse Auburn but at least he is perfect from 40 and in. All his misses are from 40+. This is already one of the best defenses in the country. How much better would they have been if our opponents field position was 4-5 yards worse on average. We also only had 7 punts land inside the 20 this year which is abysmal. Sanborn last year had 15.
  6. *correction, will be on campus tomorrow
  7. IT confirming Purdue DT Cole Brevard will be on campus today too
  8. FCB with a few portal related notes
  9. Do we know what is going to happen with Niblack? I’ve just assumed he is moving on. I know everyone is pretty high on Jordan Washington but it gets pretty scary behind him. Spencer Shannon, Will Randle and 2 true freshman. Adding a proven guy would make a lot of sense.
  10. I just watched all of Clemson’s offensive plays against South Carolina. A few things stuck out 1) We are going to see QB draw a bunch, especially after what we put on film the second half against Georgia. Klubnik scored on it once and he also scored a second TD on a busted RPO that he just took right up the middle. 2) They pull guards on about 90% of their run plays. Their OL looked pretty meh. 2) It felt like all of their pass plays were either 6 yard curl routes to a slot receiver/flexed out TE or vertical sideline shots South Carolina has a good defense but they also got too pressure happy at times and that is when Clemson seemed to burn them.
  11. I guess it would have been cooler if he stayed but was anyone really confident in counting on Mitchell for meaningful snaps next season? I would have recruited the portal like he didn’t exist and if he decided to be serious about football and get his shit together it would have been a bonus.
  12. A few posters on the Mississippi State side are claiming Van Buren wanted north of 7 figures and Lebby told him to kick rocks.
  13. Dasan Mccullough is expected to enter the portal for OU, per their on3 site. He was hyped up as a huge portal get two years ago and did not register a single sack in two seasons.
  14. IT said we’ve reached out to this guy. FCS defensive player of the year and his dad is a trainer in the Dallas area who has worked with current and former Texas players. https://lionathletics.com/sports/football/roster/brandon-tucker/6430
  15. Our SOS in 2021 was a lot different than last year or this year. When you play extra games like we did in 2023 and this year it is usually against great competition. We faced 5 backup QB’s last year on defense. There are a billion other factors at play. Also, saying we have a 8-5 offense is about as kneejerk as one can get. We rank top 25-30 nationally in yards, points, 3rd down and almost every passing statistic. We aren’t 2020 bama but there is middle ground between that and an Alamo Bowl offense.
  16. Third stringers announcing their transfer through their agent will never not be funny to me
  17. I see Ole Miss being mentioned for a lot of these kids early. I just went and looked, and holy crap, they had 18 senior or RS senior starters this year. Going to be an interesting offseason for Kiffin.
  18. Did Bryce Anderson have a good enough year to declare? I know some people said he had an up-and-down year but I really haven't followed him that closely.
  19. There was a Texas One Fund baseball event last week and an IT poster shared some nuggets Baseball fundraiser tidbits - Michael Cantù is back as a student assistant and will coach first base. Nolan Cain will coach third. Schloss says he is not a big believer in bunting, unless you need 1 run in the 9th to win the game. He said the team will be very aggressive on the base paths, and that good teams steal at an 85% success rate. He says don’t just remember the time we got thrown out, but also remember the other 9 times we were successful. 40 msn roster this year, going to 34 next year. Get your pitch. Take pitchers deep into the count, until you get the pitch you want. Juan Soto just signed the biggest contact ever, and he swings at fewer pitches than just about everybody. They have all the contracts signed for the non- conference games, but still working on finalizing game starting times before releasing the complete schedule. We have the conf schedule - first SEC competition will be at Miss St, first home SEC series will be with LSU. Pitchers in rehab all doing well, all may have a chance to contribute - but still have to show it on the mound. When asked about starters, Will Mercer and Jared Spencer were mentioned. Spencer may be transitioned from a reliever to a starter. Max talked about pitching philosophy - throw your best pitch in the strike zone, pitch to contact if necessary. Let your defense help, and it is almost selfish (and doesn’t work) to try and strike out everybody. Avg ERA in the SEC was over 5, with starters only averaging 4.1 innings per game - offensive league. Don’t expect a lot of 1-0 ball games. “Coach fed, team led.” Lots of leaders on the team, hopefully helping the young guys to learn how to make good decisions on and off the field. Schuessler, Flores, Dre Duplantier mentioned as team leaders. Schloss repeated what he has said before - win 15 (half your games) in the SEC and you will make a Regional. Win 16 and you will probably host. Win 17 and you might be a top 8 seed. 3 SEC teams last year were under .500 in conference play and still made a Regional - and UF made the semifinals in Omaha. Baseball will probably NOT get any of the proposed revenue sharing expected next year - money will go to the revenue generating sports, football and basketball. So NIL will continue to be important for baseball. No one knows what the NIL final rules will look like, but it is expensive for ball players to live in Austin, so financial help is absolutely needed. Please donate, and designate your donation for baseball.
  20. So Clemson opened with Georgia (loss), then played 10 straight games against unranked opponents with only 1 game being against a team that won more than 7 games (Louisville, who beat them), before closing with South Carolina (who also beat them) and SMU. They've had to play a lot of hero ball with Klubnik against good defenses. 10 carries against South Carolina and 14 against SMU.
  21. And if the 4 run plays go for 11 total yards everyone will say “WHY DOES STUBBORN SARK KEEP RUNNING” Surly will make sure all basis are covered.
  22. He was pretty meh this year despite Duke having a cake schedule. Still very inaccurate. But I guess some of these teams are desperate for QB’s.
