  1. Redzone TD scoring or redzone scoring in general? Bert Auburn connects on 66% of his kicks so if it’s overall scoring I am surprised we are only 97th.
  2. We couldn’t run for more than 2 yards with the RB’s, our QB can’t throw open receivers at all or go through progressions and our OL was shaky the entire game. Not exactly a playcallers paradise in the redzone. The Arch running solution probably should have been explored more in OT but at the end of regulation it wouldn’t have been smart to trot that out with the time crunch, especially after Ewers took a stupid sack on 1st and 10 at the 14 or wherever we were. It’s obviously our birthright as fans to always be bitching about playcalling after the fact once we know the outcome. Just like we always complain about the 4th downs we don’t get but don’t bring up the times we go for it and convert.
  3. I’m pretty sure we’ve scored on that play before under Sark in a similar spot on the field (maybe one of the OU games?) It isn’t the highest percentage call but Moore is open. With our running game and Ewers inability to throw anything but touch passes, basically anything in the redzone has to be schemed open. Side note in all of this is DeAndre Moore plays hard and blocks well but I’ve thought all year that he isn’t quite there in regards to being a totally reliable receiver. I’m sure the injury hasn’t helped.
  4. Interesting. Gerry said this morning on C&F that he was hearing A&M was going to be a big player for him.
  5. Akana enrolled at 19 years old, right? It didn't seem promising when he showed up to campus at about 195 pounds as an edge/LB tweener who was already old for his grade.
  6. Hutson over Cruz. And if for some reason Hutson doesn’t start I’d assume he will be leaving. Started his entire freshman season and has spent the last two seasons being a part time player. He won’t go through another season of that.
  7. These coaches aren’t stupid man. They see the film and both these guys every day. We are in way too deep to make a QB switch unless the wheels just totally come off like they did the first Georgia game so I understand why we are in the position we are in. They also don’t want to just throw a redshirt freshman to the wolves during the most important part of the season. We are going to look back a year from now and know that Arch was the better player all along. It happens in college football.
  8. Having Tre Wisner contributes to the issue. We don’t have a running game teams respect in short yardage or the red zone. It’s not specifically Tre Wisner’s fault but we are asking him to be someone he isn’t. It’s why we are often having to use gadget plays/formations and even introduce the Arch package. We were actually a really good red zone scoring TD team for about 75% of the season. It really fell off the cliff after the Florida game.
  9. Special players beat the Georgia’s of the world. Not special schemes or cool plays. You need your best players to be special and that starts with the most important position on the field. Georgia has only lost like 5 games the last 4 years and my guess is the opposing QB played a great game in almost every one of those defeats. Same thing when Bama would lose during Saban’s run. It would be because Joe Burrow put on a Superman cape or Deshaun Watson was amazing or QUINN EWERS played the best game of his career. Not being the reason the team wins or losses and just being along for the ride isn’t good enough for a third year starter at Texas. Everyone wants to try to argue whether he is or isn’t to blame for a loss. The fact that conversation even needs to be had is part of the issue.
  10. I have to think any player worth a damn is going to be thinking about leaving Arizona. They apparently almost pulled the plug on Brent Brennan after 1 year but decided he would get a year 2. Just a massive coaching downgrade compared to Fisch.
  11. Probably because we all watched the first matchup where we averaged 1.1 yards per rush attempt, and our longest RB run went for 10 yards. We weren't running our way to victory yesterday. We were going to have to be successful throwing the ball and we were for some stretches.
  12. A 3-year starting college kicker should be hitting 41 yarders in his sleep. He doesn’t get to lay that at the feet of Ewers and Sark. A kicker is going to be asked to put one through the uprights from time to time.
  13. Blame game: 1. Bert 2. Banks not knowing a fake punt is coming with the backup punter 3. The worst fumble luck of all time 4. Ewers/Sark in the redzone 5. PK not knowing what a QB draw is
  14. He is who he is at this point. A 30+ start QB shouldn’t require perfect conditions to excel. He wasn’t awful yesterday but it’s not unreasonable to expect more from your third year starter. Sark has to scheme everything up for him right now. He isn’t evaluating those around him or making the off schedule plays. Yes the OL could be better or the receivers could be better or a specific play call or two could be better but when a dude is the starting QB at Texas for 3 years he should be able to cover up stuff and right some wrongs. That isn’t asking for too much.
  15. We were having success against their corners. A jump ball to Wingo isn’t a prayer and we had just gotten PI two plays earlier.
  16. You’ll never understand why we were trying to score a TD instead of potentially placing the game on the shoulders of the least reliable kicker in the SEC? There were 24 seconds left. The endzone shots were the correct call. The 1st and 10 middle screen we tried to call for Helm also had checkdowns available and Ewers chose to take a sack, essentially killing the drive.
  17. You described pretty much every head coach in history. They are all stubborn and all do things their way. That’s how they get to the point they do.
  18. Nahlin said he would be surprised if we pursued Barion Brown
  19. Isn’t this the son of the old Texas track coach we fired for some shady stuff?
  20. It's tough to see him as a draftable RB in this class right now. He will test well, but there will be a bunch of other RBs who also run a fast 40. I don't think he has played special teams in any of his 3 seasons here, so I don't think he will be viewed as a Keilan Robinson type. Robinson would probably go undrafted if he was in this class of RBs. Tough to make it as a Day 3 skill guy if you aren't contributing on special teams. I think it would be a mistake for him to try to turn pro, but he hasn't exactly demonstrated the best decision-making dating back to high school. Hopefully, he has good people in his corner and is willing to listen.
