  1. Agreed. Will be interesting to see what ends up happening with him and Whitehead, both of whom have held their own this year and compete well but I worry about against better lineups. Obviously, starting to pitch in the portal is a bloodbath. I'm hopeful we get this lefty from San Jac to campus that we've had committed since the fall. Been up to 96 this year and has 100 strikeouts in 56 innings. Would be an immediate weekend guy. https://www.njcaa.org/sports/bsb/2023-24/div1/players/brandonarvidsonpt3d?view=profile
  2. Neil has some doozy takes if one ever ventures into the hornet's nest known as the comment sections on OTF. His favorite thing to do is just reiterate what he heard on the YouTube show in his own words.
  3. All bets are off in the postseason. You definitely do stuff you wouldn't do in a normal weekend series. You shrink your circle of trust to about 2-3 starters and 2-3 relievers and ride those guys hard. You will bring your closer in during the 4th inning after he threw 25 pitches the day before if the game calls for it. Maybe that ends up helping us because we will be using every last drop from Duplantier and Boehm instead of bringing in David Shaw in a 2 run game because Boehm threw the night before.
  4. What do we think the realistic ceiling is for Max Grubbs? Is he a weekend guy in the SEC? He doesn't miss a ton of bats, but he gets a lot of groundballs and has looked pretty good this year for a true sophomore who we didn't expect to be a weekend starter heading into the year. 5. We would have a lot more heartburn in the 8th and 9th innings. I like Boehm in his current role. Allows him to pitch multiple times in a series, if needed.
  6. Apparently, he just started pitching this year so he is pretty raw. Can't teach 99-102 though.
  7. Hopefully Tech shows more fight against OSU than they did against OU. They are playing for their postseason lives now at 12-15 in the conference. Hard to believe Texas could finish something like 19-11 in the league and that would only be good enough for 3rd. I thought that record might win the league just a month ago. Just a weird year all around.
  8. Just saw the stat that OU is 3-6 against the other 3 teams in the top 4 of the conference and 15-0 against everyone else.
  9. Thought the offense would have to carry us to this sweep and they went into witness protection all afternoon. Then the dam eventually broke on the mound. Go take the series in Orlando.
  10. Thought OU would be on the verge of a collapse after dropping the DH against us and losing a midweek game to Oral Roberts. Tech wasn’t competitive at any point this weekend.
  11. There is a notable gap between the two defensively but Kennedy seems to boot a routine one every couple games anyway. It wouldn’t shock me if they trotted O’Dowd out there to see if there is any juice in the bat. Kennedy hasn’t had an extra base hit in 3 weeks.
  12. Get ready for Jack O Dowd in the lineup next Friday
  13. Of course it dried up as soon as the inning ended
  14. Again, if Dre is available why are we using Lummus to start an inning?
  15. Lummus has benefited from some luck this year. He is no better than Shaw or Harrison.
  16. So Kennedy gets rung up on that and then Tumis gets the Coke can sized strike zone.
  17. When Dre isn’t available and you can’t use Boehm yet, any option looks like a “don’t care about this one anymore’’ option
  18. 4 innings with 3 runs allowed seems about right for LBJ nowadays.
  19. When you see a lineup multiple times you better be able to have more in your bag than straight knee high fastball and slider in the dirt. Doesn't matter if you throw 96.
  20. They need to have an identity talk with Kennedy heading into next year. I get he’s just trying to keep his head above water as a freshman but there is no reason a guy with his speed and athleticism should be at 2 stolen bases right now and not bunting for hits semi-regularly.
  21. Back to this series, I have a feeling we are going to need some big outs from Hurley or Tumis today if we want to win. Someone has to get the ball to Boehm for the last 1-2 innings.
  22. Hate is a strong word and I’m not inside Tulo’s mind. Pierce is also not the only person in this program Tulo works with. Most of his time is spent interacting with people not named David Pierce. Tulo and Caleb Longley are close and are the ones working with swings and putting together offensive gameplans. I’m not here to tell you Sean Allen and David Pierce were going on family vacations together either. There are a lot of very successful coaches who are difficult to work for. That isn’t unusual. I’ve worked with plenty of people in my life that I may not have personally enjoyed but I made it work professionally. People also change. Maybe the pressure of this job made him harder and harder to work with over time.
