  1. My pretty educated guess is loyalty points for donations.
  2. Just glad we were able to overcome the powerful Michael Earley impact
  3. Caleb Bell (recent DL offer committed to Arkansas) just stopped Dia Bell on a 2 point conversion attempt to tie the game. Has looked good all night.
  4. So this begs the question why did he commit to Texas over LSU in the first place then? Nothing changed in the 30 days he was committed for.
  5. Your overall point stands, but it was really 2 top-level guys, at least based on hype. Bond and Golden were the headliners, but some people here and other places were wondering what Silas Bolden was even doing coming to Texas. He was ranked outside the top 100 in the portal rankings for both 247 and On3. When it was hinted in the spring that a transfer may be portaling back out many people tried to guess Bolden. I have a feeling we are going to be pretty damn happy we brought him in.
  6. So because the DL room will be thin after the season, we should stop recruiting highly talented players at another room that is likely to lose a lot of talent as well? Buying high-level portal WRs every offseason ain't cheap. There is a benefit to signing and developing your own.
  7. CSU allowed 13 sacks all season last year on 501 pass attempts. That offense is built to get the ball out quickly and to a spot, regardless of the pass rush. Norvell ain't going to let his QB sit back there and try to go through progressions. I'm sure the DL will flash some but the ball is going to be coming out fast. I'll be paying way more attention to the secondary than the pass rush in that first game.
  8. You would think a guy like Shea Dixon, who has been around forever and is pretty respected, would have better logic than "x school just needs a win on the trail because they missed out on the other top 5 guys in-state so they throwing around all the money they can because the boosters are angry!."
  9. Shea Dixon word vomiting and saying Texas is money whipping Jonah Williams
  10. Jamie Ffrench announcing at 7:30 AM CT next Friday per Gerry this morning
  11. Not Embody but this is a great one from one of their supposed board “insiders” Tuesday vs Today
  12. What he wrote (lol still has to give his boy Elko a lifeline):
  13. Fong just flipped his pick on Jonah Williams from A&M to Texas
  14. Yes, which was funny because Simmons finished as the #5 player in the state last year (Lagway, Bussey, Williams, Hudson all ahead of him). So Texas landed 1 of the top 5 and 3 of the top 10 (Black, Filsaime) in 2024, yet according to Dixon, the boosters will pay up extra since Texas only has 1 of the top 5 so far this year.
  15. Aside from the usual gibberish from TexAgs, I don't think many A&M sites are hyping this one up. Billy Embody of the LSU On3 site tried to say yesterday he thought A&M and LSU were the top 2, but the same day Shea Dixon had a post about how Texas is super motivated to win the Williams recruitment because the boosters see they have missed out on most of the other top 5 players in the state (lol). Some of the rhetoric being used on the LSU side reminds me of all the hedging they did leading up to the Colin Simmons announcement
  16. Roach on Jonah Williams: "If asked today, I'd lean slightly to the Longhorns, but with 72 hours to go, there's a lot that can change."
  17. Bill Connelly's SP+ rankings are something I always like to look at SP+ is a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency. It is a predictive measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football, not a résumé ranking, and, along those same lines, these projections aren't intended to be a guess at what the AP Top 25 will look like at the end of the year. These are simply offseason power rankings based on the information we have been able to gather to date. If we go based on those rankings: Texas- CSU (100), Michigan (7), UTSA (54), ULM (134), Miss State (55), OU (13), Georgia (1), Vady (89), Florida (23), Arkansas (44), Kentucky (22), A&M (14) Average SP+ Ranking: 46.33 A&M- Notre Dame (9), McNeese (FCS....went 1-10 last year. So both teams have 12 data points they get to be 134 with ULM!), Florida (23), Bowling Green (104), Arkansas (44), Missouri (10), Miss State (55), LSU (11), South Carolina (35), New Mexico State (116), Auburn (25), Texas (5) Average SP+ Ranking: 47.58 -Both play 4 top 20 SP+ teams. A&M gets all 4 opponents at home. -Average non-con SP+ ranking: Texas (73.75), A&M (90.75)
  18. Not many (maybe any?) Saturday to Monday turnarounds like in the Big 12, which is nice. Those were grueling.
  19. I poke fun at Beard a lot of his non-con scheduling, but the current NET system actually rewards you for blowing out bad teams because it factors in the margin of victory and efficiency metrics. The problem last year was he scheduled creampuffs then went out and beat Detroit Mercy by 1 point. Detroit Mercy won 1 game all year. When you schedule soft and don't blow them out like you should, your NET ranking takes a beating. It's how you end up with a NET ranking of 90th despite winning 20 games. We will see if the strategy works this year.
