  1. A guy trying to fight through an injury and surgery he isn't 100% from is a tad different from a normal healthy guy getting on the mound, but your point is understood.
  2. Thomas has apparently thrown several bullpens the last few weeks as they tossed this idea around. Upper 80s with the fastball. Coming off 5 games in 6 days with our pitching injuries/depth, I guess now is as good a time as ever to give it a try. Injury risk is obviously the biggest concern, but he could also get injured playing first base or taking a ball off the wrist in the batter's box or running the bases. Can't play sports with the mindset of trying to avoid injuries. I guess we'll see what happens. The kid loves Texas and has more heart than maybe anyone on the team. Wouldn't surprise me if he was the one who brought this idea to the table.
  3. That Trilly Donovan guy posted an update on Garrison in some private channel he has. Said he’s hearing it’s OU vs a return to OSU, with a return to OSU gaining more steam. Didn’t mention Texas.
  4. There is a deadline for guys to withdraw before the draft. I think it is sometime next month. If you stay in past that deadline, you are locked in regardless of if you are picked or not. The majority of borderline draft guys declare without officially hiring an agent to give them the option to withdraw by the deadline, but the sure-fire draft guys will just declare and hire an agent right away meaning they can not withdraw.
  5. He was pretty damn good in high school. There was some thought he could be a two-way guy when he first enrolled. Threw back-to-back no-hitters in a 6A district his senior year.
  6. Very well put. If you are always looking for the next hurdle you hope he won't clear so you can finally pull the plug, what are you even doing? Reminds me of all the hand-wringing of what if Herman accidentally wins out and makes the Big 12 title game in 2020 and then we can't get rid of him. If you want to move on, you want to move on. There is no rule a coach has to return because he reached X goal.
  7. Kendall Rodgers earlier today in their weekly chat on D1baseball Guest: Two part question and just want your thoughts -All my Longhorn baseball friends are losing patience with Pierce. Not sure he is the answer for leading the team into a tough SEC next year. Do you think DelConte could try to go after Schloss at A&M. They are connected from their days at TCU. Does Pierce need to make post season to keep his job? Kendall Rogers: Guest – I think Texas will be making a coaching change if the season ended today. Coach Pierce and I are close and have a great relationship, but it’s also my job to be truthful. I have no doubt Chris Del Conte will shoot for Schlossnagle, but I would be very surprised at this point if that would even be an option unless A&M just bungled the new facility, which I’ve been told will not happen. Should Texas open (and I’m not saying it will for sure), I have a very good name in mind that I think the Longhorns would have an excellent shot with. Stay tuned.
  8. Our inbound passing in important situations just improved
  9. Even if he took another step forward this offseason, having a guy at that wing spot who offers very little to no offensive game outside of 5 feet makes life harder for everyone else on the floor. It was time to move on. I won't miss the offensive sets and looks we got when he played with Cunnigham and Horton at the same time.
  10. There is a 100% chance if Texas makes a regional they will be sent to College Station. Last chance the NCAA will have to match the two teams up in a regional and they aren't turning it down.
  11. He clarified last night and said it is a HS wing player who is supposed to announce for the good guys this week.
  12. Our 7-3 road record is good, especially considering that 4 of the 7 are against teams currently in the top 40 of RPI (Tech and KSU). We actually have more road wins than 12 of the top 20 RPI teams, including teams like FSU, A&M, Vandy and OU. It's the home losses that are weighing down the boat. We win 1 of any of the 7 Q4 games we lost, we are right around 50 in RPI right now and are not sweating as hard. The A&M Corpus loss in particular might be the difference in playing postseason baseball or not. 224 in RPI, 5-7 in the Southland and just lost a series to Houston Christian, who we hung 20 runs on.
  13. Jamie Shaw (On3 national basketball guy) C Aaron Bradshaw, Kentucky INTEL: I wrote last week, after Aaron Bradshaw went into the Transfer Portal, that Ohio State and USC were two programs I was immediately told to watch with the 7-footer. Bradshaw went on a visit to Ohio State this weekend. Sources close to the recruitment tell me that the visit went well and that Ohio State likes where things are at. Naturally, the recruitment is not done. UNC and Texas are two other programs sources suggest to monitor here. The Tar Heels are in on a couple of big men with Yale transfer Danny Wolf scheduled to come in this weekend. Even with some Buckeye momentum, the timeline of things is worth paying attention to.
  14. Witt still had a higher stock than LBJ last year despite the injury based on my understanding. Most teams saw LBJ as a reliever and his underlying metrics (extension, spin rate, ride on his fastball, etc) were not great. Witt had great underlying metrics on his stuff pre injury. Witt could have probably gone somewhere in rounds 3-5 if he dropped his price. LBJ was probably more 5th-8th round but once it got to that point I think he was set on returning and trying to prove he could be a starter and move up. Both are obviously going to have to take haircuts this year assuming they sign. The good news for LBJ is he still has leverage as a redshirt junior so he should still get a 6 figure bonus but he’ll be in a minor league bullpen. I’m not even going to pretend to know what is going to happen to Witt. Such an odd situation with him.
  15. Larry and Kent both had good data points against decent/good competition outside of the MVC. Larry went for 18 and 6 in the NIT championship against Seton Hall and Kent went for a 30 burger against SMU earlier in the NIT.
  16. Terry had that comment this week about the ball being in Hunter and Mitchell’s court in terms of returning, but they certainly seem to be attacking the portal with the assumption neither will be back. Go get Pope and Garrison and let’s cook.
  17. Boehm the rest of the season
  18. WVU and OU co-leading when they had some abysmal non-con performances is also funny. I think the smart money is on OSU at this point. Already played WVU and OU so they have a lighter part of the schedule coming up and are playing well.
  19. Wtf Air Force just took a series against DBU? That’ll help the SOS.
  20. Today’s game kind of reminded me of that game 3 against OU in 2022 at Globe Life. Went down like 7-2 in the 8th or 9th and seemed toast only to explode for like 9 runs.
  21. Could probably bump 93-94 on a good day with full rest and letting it fly
  22. Still gotta run Boehm out there in the bottom half right?
  23. I guess we are putting Borba at 1B and moving Thomas to the OF next inning?
