San Antonio
Be sure to pop into The Esquire for cocktails and munchies if that’s your thing. Also, check out Ostra for good cocktails and apps, if not a better than average dinner. Bohanan’s for steak & brown liquor Paesano’s for Italian Will also 2nd the nod to Rosario’s in King William. All these options are relevant when you decide NOT to get in the car, by the way.

San Antonio
When you’re staying downtown, there’s nothing wrong at all with the Blanco Cafe on St. Mary’s. Easy walk from The Westin. Stop in at Sip for coffee for your wanderings as well.

What the fuck is wrong with you, Houston?
I moved to SWFL for 3 years before coming back 3 years ago. Loved it, had a helluva lotta fun. Was so easy to walk away from, though, and I was so happy to come back to TX, even though my current location is far from what I am used to. Never leaving again I am fortunate in that I get to travel, though. And you are right, persoective is a valuable thing to possess.

Texas BBQ
Drove by there shortly after 11am, and he had 4 cars parked. So good to see people actually coming out for his food. You saw the place and the location. It’s been a bit of a secret for a while. The minute I saw the TM article, I knew that things would change…for the better for him, to be sure (I hope). If you happen to come through again, give a shout. Hell, I’ll even pick up a check for those Surlys that dare to actually spend time in Lufkin…ha!

My Encore is set on 12. I use 6 Tb grounds to 1 liter water. Suits me just fine. If that helps at all...

Vacationing in times of Covid
Legalized and payroll prostitution. I have a buddy who says, “Why am I tipping people for just doing their job?” He’s a 1%er and generous to a fault. But he has a point about the line being consistently blurred about receiving basic service and then being socially obligated to open his wallet.

Things you really just don't get...
I know a couple who are both obsessed with Disney. Always quoting the movies like we understand the references. She is a teacher, but (like most chicks) has a side-gig as a travel agent, but she does Disney trips only. He is obsessed with Frank Sinatra, Al Capone, and Winnie-The-Pooh. He has a tattoo of Baloo The Bear (from Jungle Book) and constantly refers to himself as "Papa Bear". We're stuck for a week at the Gaylord in Orlando this Fall for a meeting. My wife wants to go in 2 days early so we can hit Epcot and do some Food & Wine Festival stuff. These guys get all offended that we didn't go through them to book our "Disney vacation". First of all, it ain't a Disney-fucking-vacation. I'm in Orlando under protest (hate that town). And I'm grudgingly going to Epcot because I'm a good husband. So please excuse me because I didn't consult with your "agency" for a two-day pass. Weirdos...
