  1. Post #26. If you try it, let me know what you think.
  2. It was sheer parental happenstance that completely fucked up our entire holiday season last year. Long story not worth going into, but suffice to say that Thanksgiving & Christmas 2019 was just outright cancelled. This year, my wife begins a full 7-nights of shifts beginning on Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so no point in me even bothering to create a holiday out of that week. She will be off that 24th & 25th only for Christmas, so we will have a very quiet, traditional, romantic Christmas for just the two of us. Doesn't have shit to do with COVID. Just kinda the way it works out. I guess that's a good thing. Remains to be seen what our families think about it. We're usually the ones that plan the holidays for everyone else, so it will be fun to just sit back, remain quiet, and see how long it takes everyone else to actually think about the holidays on their own.
  3. Dammit! That one totally hurts. Along with Jacala, I’ve been going there all my life. Was in SA in June. Went and stuffed myself. Glad I had one last kickass meal there now.....
  4. How much sauce do you like with it?
  5. $0.15/lb at your neighborhood grocery store.
  6. You ever notice that when people are rude, and you call them out on their bad behavior, that they turn around and get offended, as if you just committed some crime against humanity? And it’s your fault all of a sudden...? Eat a bag of dicks.
  7. I’m rubber. You’re glue.
  8. Goddam, is it your time of the month or something? Lighten up.
  9. I wondered about that. This dude loves anything and everything and is always falling prey to the next new thing. Plus, he drinks Irish, Scotch, Bourbon, Whiskey...anything. So...not sure if his palate is refined or he’s just a dumbass. Aside from all that, he IS a good friend. He was also with me when I shopped. And there was one bottle of Peerless on the shelf. I caved to his peer pressure. At the very least, I’ll cross it off the list and just feed it to him when he visits. Thanks for the warning. Kinda makes me wanna crack it now.
  10. Had a decent haul this week. Stocking up the essentials and trying something new on a friend’s recommendation.
  11. $389 at Total Wine in the Woodlands. So smooth, that it almost ceases to be Scotch. A very sweet after-dinner sipping concoction. Was a one-time splurge, and there’s certainly nothing bad about it, but I will stick with the Balvenie 21 in the future.
  12. People who use the phrase “lighten up”. Usually, they’re the ones that started shit in the first place.
  13. Dousing, huh? Feel free to shank yourself. Just busting balls...
  14. Also posted this in the "listening right now" thread. Fresh out of the mailbox from 20 Buck Spin. The Chronicle just did an article on Nate as well. I hope that his new Texas home treats him well. https://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2020-10-16/spirit-adrift-album-review/ https://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2020-10-16/spirit-adrifts-nathan-garrett-lands-his-astral-metal-rocket-in-bastrop/

    Post Rock

I'm more of a Metalhead, but these guys are considered Post Rock. A few albums under their belt, too.
  16. Fresh out of the mailbox. Enlightened In Eternity, the 4th full-length platter from this ever-growing savior of Doom. Austin Chronicle just put up a review and article as well. https://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2020-10-16/spirit-adrift-album-review/ https://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2020-10-16/spirit-adrifts-nathan-garrett-lands-his-astral-metal-rocket-in-bastrop/
  17. He can go the fuck back to St. Louis, then...
  18. Username does not check out...or does it...?
  19. I use the Moppin' Sauce quite a bit on Chicken and Ribs. Love that stuff!
  20. It’s the only BBQ sauce that graces this house, and even then, it gets used sparingly. There’s hardly a need for sauce with my cooking, but I do use it when making Burnt Ends. I also thin it with Coke and use it as a mop baste on grilled Chicken or Pork occasionally. What’s your problem with Stubb’s? That dude’s a legend.
  21. The linked article from 1973 was an interesting read as well.
  22. Too hungry to do some fancy slicing and picture taking, but here’s the gist: Lightly-toasted Bread. Bottom bread smeared with Stubb’s Spicy. Piece of Aged Swiss. Some Holmes Sausage links, heated up for meltiness of the Swiss. Some of my Pulled Pork tossed in my Mustard Slather and heated up. 2 American Slices to melt on top. Mayo on top Bread. Lunch, some mindless TV, and random laziness on a Tuesday.
