  1. Four-night trip coming up. Staying at The Cosmo. Gonna wander the AVN expo while we’re there. Tattoo by Mike Roche (from TSOL) at Hart & Huntington. Will check out Brian Slagel’s new record store. Y&T concert on our last night there. Was too slow to secure a res at Lotus Of Siam, but I think The Cosmo food options should cover our needs nicely. My favorite gambling activity consists of Craps sessions broken up by repeated rounds at Whiskey Down. No real mandatory stops other than that. A simple trip. Tattoos, Porn, and Rock & Roll. Vegas, baby!
  2. Sure. I’ll allow it. Could definitely have fun with those puppies.
  3. Did my invite to this party get lost or somethin’?
  4. Did ya peek out your front curtains just to verify that your truck is in the driveway, preferably without some homeless guy stuck in your windshield...? Those are fun mornings.....
  5. Gonna start this story by mentioning that our entire holiday season. was screwed up this year. Thanksgiving was cancelled. Christmas was barely cobbled together. What we gonna do for the New Year? Spent most of New Year’s Day in the ER. When you get the phone call to come to the hospital, Trauma Bay 3, you drop everything and haul ass. Turns out my wife (no pics) collapsed at work. Only reason she was in a “trauma” bay was because it was a courtesy (spacious, in a quiet corner, etc). For the record, she was already there, because she’s the Chief Hospitalist and was on-shift. And when the boss collapses unexpectedly in the hallway, the place goes on full tilt. Got the VIP treatment when I came storming in, although it was a holiday with a reduced staff, so shit still moved slow. Despite my wife’s protestations, I told the ER doc “As long as we’re here snd already running a tab, do it all, snd let’s make sure we’re not dealing with something more sinister than just a really aggressive virus.” So...it made for a long fuckin’ day. And I’m 99% sure that it was an isolated event. But I brought her home, fed her some homemade soup while she finished patient charts on her laptop, filled her Rx, gave her drugs, put her in bed, then poured a Bourbon (more than one) while I had a quiet nervous breakdown in the other room. And I’ll be damned if she didn’t wake me up at 5am so I could drive her back to work. So...it’s January 2, and I’m on my 2nd cup of coffee, wondering what kinda bullshit might happen today... Happy New Year to all you Surly Bastards.
  6. If ya can’t stand the heat...something, something, something.
  7. Where else but NOLA can you pass out sitting up at a bar with your dick in your hands? You’d be rude not to!
  8. All the higher end Marriotts in NOLA are great, although the JW will “fee” you less than the Ritz. Recently had a great stay at a JW resort in Scottsdale. The St. Regis in Houston is a great property, as mentioned already.
  9. You’re a diabolical genius! Digging out a thermos now...
  10. Gotta give some love to this recipe. I have been doing this since you posted for the same tasty-but-sensible-meal-option reasons you posted, and it is amazing. Don’t have an InstaPot, thought. Just doing it old-school on the stove. Still freakin’ rocks, man. Well done!
  11. Agreed. I felt that way even when it was a shitty Albertsons back in the day. And never once got stabbed.
  12. Once you go Balthasar, you never go back.
  13. That’s a very cool tradition that says a lot about you and your family. Not everything has to be “perfect”. Just perfect for the occasion at that time in that place. And everyone is happy about it. Well done. And Merry Christmas!
  14. ...and you have no idea how those started showing up? Amirite...?
  15. Wife (no pics) is making a Pumpkin Creme Brulee with a Cranberry Compote, and also cranking out batches of Pumpkin Cranberry Muffins. And they are all exceptional. Doesn’t mean I won’t be scoring Pumpkin Pie wherever I can find it for the next month.
  16. Same here. I always enjoyed the drink, never paid attention to the horse. Didn’t realize we had to play a stupid game. Had a bartender at the Gunter in SA explain to me why he had corks sitting on his bar.
