  1. You looked in to getting a HELOC to get your down payment on house 2?
  2. Kids and I enjoyed the last episode. I wonder what they have in store for the Hawkeye(s)
  3. We’ve had 3 people test positive in the last 2 weeks. That’s quite a few for us, and I don’t think we’ve seen this much activity since spring of 2020. All were vaccinated. Unfortunately, it’s not helping in making the case to get vaccinated for the handful of hold outs. Good thing is those 3 seem to be shrugging it off pretty well.
  4. Granted, you gave him permission on the floor thing, but hopefully you have in your lease that they pay repair costs if they don’t go through you.
  5. If we fire someone, they are not eligible for rehire. Someone laid off would have a chance to come back. I’ve been told we actually laid off almost all the operators, warehouse, etc in the last 90s for a few months while the Sales group was getting things together. Quite a few of those employees came back, and some have just started retiring recently.
  6. I’ll think about it. Actually, I can’t stop laughing at that gif. It is making me hate myself.
  7. I’m only on episode 1, and I’m hoping he’s dead before the end of episode 2, but it sounds like I’m going to be disappointed. He’s an unredeemable bitch that just shot his friend.
  8. We’ll if we go through the characters on the cover… Ben - killed by his best friend and pupil Han - killed by his murderous son after parting ways with the love of his life Luke - became a whiney bitch after his pupil became a galaxy murdering Sith Leia - died of…a broken heart? Like her mother?
  9. One ReFi down (personal residence), waiting on appraisal results for a second, and waiting to schedule an appraisal for a third. End result of all 3 will knock a few years off one mortgage, drop our overall monthly payments, and get some cash out at a lower rate than the short term flip loans to work on our latest lot in Brazoria. Thanks to @UTPhil2006 and Thad and Dana and the rest of their team for everything
  10. Just finished watching and Mummy is exactly what my wife and I said. This movie was a lot of fun and very entertaining. Good family adventure movie.
  11. In bed after knee surgery yesterday. Thought it was meniscus tear, but turns out it was a congenital plica issue. That makes me feel a little better that I didn’t injure myself - I couldn’t figure out anything related to why it might be hurting. Started the year with a partial pec tear (and still can feel it and afraid to push it), ending it with knee surgery. Has been a shitty year for my insurance and my physical health. Only 39 but feel like I’m falling apart.
  12. Who are you using to do the work? Always looking for another good contractor.
  13. I still prefer Natasha more, but I enjoy Velena as well. Great take on the snap impact.
  14. Thoroughly enjoyed both seasons.
  15. That asshole got a raise? Or salaries have been frozen for 2 years due to Covid. I’m hoping it doesn’t extend to a third.
  16. House is in your name? Go to either you counties prop tax site or CAD site. Either will let you search by address, that will bring up your name. Not hard to get those cad or tax sites as a list that can be filtered and sorted in all kinds of ways (by delinquent tax payments, for instance). The phone book that used to be free has to be paid for now, but also easier to just compile everything electronically. Then an auto text program. They are just like the signs or letters you get. Really cheap to send out bulk “call me” notes. Then you get kicked up to the real person who works on the details and makes a stupidly low offer. I’ve read where they can only need a fraction of a percent to hit to be worth it.
  17. I’m not as pessimistic as some of you, but I do see us headed towards a Wall-E type situation. Too many willing to be fat and lazy staring at a screen all day. I I completely realize the irony as I type this. I’m not sure the WallE like scenario (or Terminator) doesn’t overestimate AI. If AI doesn’t become advanced enough to handle not just the conveyor line, but also keeping the conveyor line (and everything else) running, then the second or third generation of WallE humans isn’t floating around space carefree, they are in an oh shit situation where machines are starting to break down and no one alive knows anything about them.
  18. I may be getting posters mixed up, but I believe this started with an figure implying our hunger issues were an issue, and that being that this is a thread about the end of the US, the hungry and poor were going to eat the rich (my whiskey fueled interpretation). The counterpoint was that - yes, we have some hunger issues, but our safety nets in place make our hunger issues (and poor issues) relatively small to many counties. One of the reasons other pointed out that people are still trying to come here. So currently, it is unlikely that the poor/hunger problem is going to destroy the US. Now your last 3 sentences, that’s why many are worried we are going to crumble because we can’t communicate civilly with each other.
  19. None of the hourly workers at my plant need a phone. None are required to clock in by phone. Many plants and refineries ban phones in the units and/or plants.
  20. I’ll take living with hurricanes instead of tornadoes all day.
  21. Yeah, yeah, competing in the men’s he was just your average good athlete that places well at the conference level. Now competing in the women’s she is suddenly an Olympic level athlete, maybe a record breaking Olympic athlete.
  22. Finished S3 of lost in space with the family last night. Very fun enjoyable family show. Very Trek-ish
  23. To take out a massive amount of student loans in someone else’s name.
