  1. Good God you just gave me a flashback to property law. It’s still painful. Please stop.

That sounds reasonable. If you are dead set on what you want to end up in, I would go ahead and get it and then join Cresson or Harris hill and drive the crap out of it for awhile (from my biased experience, the Cresson crowd is more geared toward national racing and there is a lot of support there). Along the way, I would engage Jason Hart or Erik Foss for some coaching. Then, once you feel you are at least at the middle of the pack for who you are running against, start racing.

You don't get comfortable, lol. That's the fun part. Not judging and just trying to help, people usually don't go from little or no track experience to jumping in a race car and racing. There is usually a lot of prior track experience (DE's) or race schools with a lot of practice time. Driving on the street vs. driving on the track vs. driving quickly on track vs. racing are all very different things.

I would count the Spec Boxster as a race car. Here is a pic of the inside.

Some fellow Spec Boxster drivers own Eagles Canyon and are doing good things to fix it up. You also have MSR Cresson outside of Fort Worth in that area which is an excellent training track. That drivers edge posted above does DE’s at both of them in case anyone is interested.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. I had the same issue in my 997 GT3 but fortunately it happened In the carasoul at HMSR so was able to save it. Crazy how such a small thing can cause such a big problem.

Impressive to blow the motor on a P car. Money shift? DE is a drivers education event. It’s where a lot of people start this drug. You drive around a track with other people in your own cars under pretty structured rules. I.e. no passing without a point. No passing in corners etc. you can check out www.thedrivers edge.net. It’s pretty popular in Texas. Or if you want to run COTA, there is one called edge addicts that runs there a lot.

The pink adds 5mph. I started off doing DE's awhile ago at most of the Texas tracks. That elevated into racing Spec Boxsters last year with PCA. Driving that car, especially in a race, is the most fun thing, at least for me, you can do with your clothes on. The spec fords are pretty cool too and you will definitely meet plenty of cool people at the track. I would recommend to check out the spec boxsters though especially if you are in Texas. The competition is very tough, the cars are reasonable (range from 30k-60k), and they are a blast to drive. Texas has a huge showing in this class too especially if you can run at Cresson. Whatever you do, check out the costs of the consumables and frequently replaced parts. That is by far a bigger expense that just the car.
  9. There is a burger trailer at 377 and 171 in cresson that is awesome. There is also a track there in case you want to do some driving or spectating.
  10. Haven't thought about Clary's for while but was going to recommend due to this thread. Unfortunately, doesn't look like they ever made it back from the hurricane. Man I loved that place. Best gumbo, stuffed flounder and boiled shrimp ever. https://www.galvnews.com/news/article_e6d8c2a2-7d65-5c3d-a0ab-01dea89a0305.html
  11. In Cabo? I’m saying $150. Cheaper in Mexico than anywhere else I’ve been. $150 for 2 boxes of Partagas? Please sign me up for that, lol. I think they were 24 bucks stick. Went to a few different places recommended and I was positive were legit, did some negotiating and that's were it landed.
  12. Unfortunately, I think it might be the future. If it’s any indication, Porsche dropped its LMP class to focus on Formula E.
  13. Leaving a well paying, stable job to start my own company. Definitely a win but made for a rough couple of years with a lot of second guessing.
  14. 6 Rounds of 3 on the line at a time in an hour and a half-ish span with me and the wife (no pics). Great fun. Turned directly into this upon returning to shore.
  15. Just got back from Cabo and was able to bring these babies back due to the only good thing Obama did (other than that Tax credit for electric vehicles which got you a "free" golf cart).
  16. Usually means she like to F...a lot. so, ok with that one. See above. HUGE red flag. As in, deal breaker for serious relationship material.
  17. Totally ok with the 50 yard line. Its not covered in piss, pubes, ass sweat and shit.
  18. Probably been addressed in 21 pages. But, my #1 pet peeve...4 lane road. Two cars in front of me approaching a light. They end up side by side at a light (usually one moves over so both have the #1 spot). They then both take off slowly and drive side by side from there either at or under the speed limit. It's truly amazing how often this happens on Bee Caves and 71. I am agitated just typing this out.
  19. I have actually went so far as to rent a cheap hotel/motel room just to avoid shitting in a gas station. Buccees is the only exception there. OK to use their restroom.
  20. Wow, whole lotta love for Maudies. Maybe its the location. For convenience and the margarita, I primarily go to the Bee Caves one. Thanks for the tip on the strait plate. Sounds interesting, will give it a try. Not ordering fajitas from a place that doesn't make their own tortillas is a fair point.
  21. I judge Tex-mex on 4 things: fajitas, queso, salsa and margaritas. They fail, miserably, on 3 out of 4 of those criteria. If I a missing something, I am all ears.
  22. I've noticed on the chicken that the longer you do it, the worse it is. So, now we cook about an hour and a half at 144 and then sear and seems to be better.
  23. So, I'm not a bicycler. But, with an open mind, I really would like to hear from those that are the rationale why it's ok to ride a bike on a busy 2 lane road without a shoulder...especially during traffic time. Or, is that frowned upon in the community too and these are rogue people?
  24. Find yourself a wholesaler and compare to prices you can find online and use them to negotiate. The initial dollar amount they give you is like a code. It doesn't actually mean anything. Lastly, the C's (cut, color, clarity) come before size.
