  1. There is method of self blood doping where the athlete trains at altitude (in a low oxygen environment). The red blood cells increase their concentration of 2,3 DPG that decreases hemoglobin affinity for oxygen. That shifts the oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve to the right, allowing more oxygen to be delivered during exercise or competition. The athlete can bag some of this blood and transfuse it before a competition at sea level.
  2. As both a physician and the father of a Div I athlete, I can’t disagree more. These are 18yo knuckleheads thrust into a very competitive environment. If steroids are the culture, most will participate or get left behind. And the medical downside for many will not be realized until years later. We are talking about the health of kids. Put me firmly in the “heavy testing, harsh penalty” crowd.
  3. Yep snowbirding
  4. Who is that in your avatar? Asking for a friend (my penis)
  5. Foster won’t wait until his senior year to commit to Texas. He will pull the trigger early unless Hand leaves. Conner is leaning hard to UT now, but will probably let his recruitment play out a little longer. Unfortunately Jackson appears to slightly favor aggy or OOS at this time, but is still pretty open.
  6. So they’re with South’s mom?
  7. Baker is a very talented QB. He is also a grade-A cunt. These are not mutually exclusive. Not sure what the argument is here.
  8. Jim Bertelsen played in the NFL for several years. LA Rams.
  9. That’s right Nick. You will take our rejects and like it.
  10. There are some pretty big cunts on this thread. Hager is what he is. A 3 star late addition / steal from Baylor. If we had better options, they would have been playing, or you should be criticizing the coaches for playing an inferior player. We are all pretty pissed after yesterday, but let’s not eat our own.
  11. As a physician that has read thousands of studies over the years that contradict each other, I laugh at your definition of “fact-based science”. I am not in any way advocating physical discipline measures. Just pointing out that all studies, especially retrospective behavioral outcome studies, should be read with a healthy dose of skepticism.
  12. I pitched for 2 yrs at a SWC school before I realized I could never make a living at it (same time as Clemens, Schiraldi, Capel at UT), and my son played basketball at TCU in Mountain West days.
  13. Order from Residency DTFq4 dirt to face every 4 hours. so they can get used to it.
  14. Meh. I know we all hate Baylor, but I did watch his dad beat Bama with a pretty awesome quarterback draw. So I can’t hate his kid.
  15. I don’t think Brewer was complaining about a hit. He felt that he did not start his slide until he had the first down, and after seeing the replay, I agree with him. No idea what he said to draw the flag, but it was brief and ended Baylor’s remote chance to come back.
  16. Slow clap is the worst kind. Insidious. At least with a fast clap, you can get on antibiotics quickly and knock that shit out.
  17. Prayers sent. God Bless.
  18. 3 man fronts are designed to eat up blockers and allow free running LBs to make plays. Their job is to keep gap integrity and hold up against double teams. If they try to work behind the play, it frees up an O lineman to hit the second level. If they are driven backwards, it impedes the defensive flow. The 4i is not a glamour position - tackles from him are just gravy. But if he does not do his job, the entire scheme is fubar on any off tackle play. He has to force a double team and hold his ground.
  19. Bimage is overpowered. He cannot hold up against the run. Wheeler is slow and passive. In clip 1, he had a huge lane to run through and meet the RB just beyond the LOS, but he is slow shuffling and is content to ride the scrum down the field.
  20. Well, not at the start if the game...
  21. From Heber City, Utah FIGHT!!
  22. If there is room for one more, I am partial to a good dust-up. I am easy to spot - people say I look like a slightly older version of The Rock, only better looking and more muscular. If I can fight my way through the throngs of females pawing at my incredible abs, I will assume the traditional pugilistic pose as a sign of my willingness to engage any and all Surly posters. See you all at Pegasus, if indeed such a place exists.
  23. One of Bryce Foster's "childhood coaches" that he referenced was Donnie Eckhardt, former UT walk-on. He is now an OB/Gyn in Tomball. Huge UT fan.
  24. Fuck those guys and any Texan who pulls for them.
