  1. Agree today was actually an improvement compared to TCU. two good Texas Fight chants is two more than all year. Smaller crowd but those there actually wanted to be there. Fun game, and the Bijan chants at the end was a good way to end the home experience.
  2. That’s my section. Row H holla.
  3. Agree. It’s like admiring your lawn…love just looking at a crystal clear pool and knowing you keep it that way.
  4. We did a reseal after about 3 yrs and polished etc over a weekend and it felt like it was worth the effort for about a week and then it was the same. That was 12 yrs ago or so. I think the best thing is to just keep them clean and don’t let any grime sit for a long period of time, especially citrus juice or the like. At our previous house we had a margarita night leave a huge ring of lime juice stained in. But it slowly went away after a month. We have pure black granite so everything shows but my wife is a clean freak and wipes them down about 27 times a day (except for aforementioned margarita night).
  5. Just rewatched the opening. Dude says one of the guests has drowned. Valentina goes on about well we're not liable for the ocean. Then he says, they found other bodies, other guests have been killed. How many?..."a few". No wreckage shown but they show boats searching the ocean so presumably all the bodies were being found in the water.
  6. I'd say just shoot for the 12 hours. If doing lunch salt it late tonight and if doing dinner salt early tomorrow morning. * pretty sure you're a lawyer so I guarantee nothing and bare no responsibility to the quality and texture of your turkey breast.
  7. Spatchcocked and dry brining. Went ahead and just put the pepper and Cajun seasoning on now too.
  8. Damn dude give some respect to Ced (RIP).
  9. There's 2 Alton Brown egg nog recipes...one with a ton of booze and no egg whites that can be aged (because of the booze), and a more classic one with the fluffy whites. I'd imagine the latter is better for NA for a more creamy, sugary, foamy eggnog. Both are good but I haven't left booze out of either, and to be honest, when I made the 'classic' I but more bourbon than it called for. https://altonbrown.com/recipes/eggnog/ https://altonbrown.com/recipes/aged-eggnog/
  10. Mid-October through New Year's is peak for the cooking part of this forum with the chili, gumbo, thanksgiving, turkey, soup/stew, eggnog, Christmas, NYE threads to go with the mainstays like shank, steak, shit i cooked, etc. Party on...
  11. The upper deck was so we could get somebody to drop $300 mil or whatever to build the damn thing.
  12. A small anecdote on the culture Beard is building. My daughter is a freshman and has been to many games in FEC, but never really wanted to go to football games with me. Of course once she got on campus she's been waiting the 2-3 hrs to go to football games with friends. My wife decided not to go last night so took my daughter. After seeing the atmosphere of the student section, she said something like "i'm not sure which games and don't know how yet, but I want to be down there" and was snapping (is that the right term?) her friends pictures to get them on board.
  13. Were you in one of the main club areas? With half the arena having access to clubs, you're right, all the lines in the concourse areas are non-existent.
  14. I find myself asking this same question for lots of recipes. I think in general, liquid in big pots (soup, stew, chili, etc) doesn't scale linearly, and if using powders, you have less liquid for it all to dissolve in, so maybe not there too. For chili slurries, no clue.
  15. My daughter has been waling around feeling special. She was on Seatgeek for the Arlington shows (seatkeek official partner of jerry jones), and about 11:15am it just took her to the ticket selection and got 4. Then she watched Tiktok the rest of the day of pissed off people. Kids these days...
  16. Not much too add over what’s already been said…the team and arena fucks. Here’s my non surly 1% season ticket view
  17. Texas 38 Kansas 24 Punting 69 yds
  18. Agree but they aren’t exactly passing over money compared to before. The ticket plus seat license price is significantly higher than FEC which also is meant to get only people who really want to be there in the building.
  19. There's an Alton Brown recipe somewhere for oven method, but it's just whisk on stove in dutch oven until all the initial bubbles die down, then into oven at 350F. Come back and stir it every 30-45 mins. It takes about 2.5 hrs for my oven, but then back to stove to put in veggies. I didn't take any pictures at the tailgate but do have some leftovers in the fridge.
  20. Tailgate gumbo. Got this far at home and taking it down for the rest of the process. 2.5 cup oil and 3.5 cup flour roux done in oven for 2.5 hrs while I relaxed and got other shit ready.
  21. Texas 38 TCU 31 669 passing yards
  22. Forgot to add, I had planned on eating the Ad-Hoc fried chicken at Addendum Saturday lunch before heading back to SFO. Walk over at 11am and it's a ghost town. Find out it had 'closed for the season' the weekend before. Grabbed a pizza at Velo Pizza just a block up, which wasn't bad. Never made it to Gott's either so that's 2 places for a re-visit.
  23. Remember the old debate about whether the students won't come unless they have better seats vs why should they get better seats until they prove they will show up consistently? Maybe we're getting the answer. A few other variables though with the newness factor, plus arena more on campus, a coach who makes student engagement a top priority, and a pretty damn good team. They did always have the upper deck for overflow though. I still think those panels open up one day but it won't be in year one that's for sure. Students were allowed to stand in south upper deck bar area (bar not open), but they have zero effect on crowd noise from there.
  24. OK, back from our first trip to Napa last week. We stayed 4 nights so had 3 full days of wineries plus a couple of travel days. I probably won't have much new to add since most spots we hit came from recs on this thread, but will share some thoughts as a first-timer and who really doesn't even drink wine very often. Hotel Yountville was excellent. Being a special occasion we went for the premium suite. Big room and bathroom with rain shower and separate sex tub (not sure if it's called that in the brochure). Wife appreciated the separate makeup vanity. Private patio/garden to sit outside. Just nice touches throughout. For wine we started after lunch and with 90min tastings and most closing at 4-5pm, you can really only do 2 in an afternoon. Pre-covid was it much more casual free for all where you could show up and drink and be on your way? Anway... Barnett - There were 5 tastings on the menu and dude threw that away after the 2 whites. We ended up tasting 8 including a pinot, cab franc, merlot, and 3 cabs including the rattlesnake (which was not on the menu we originally got). This was our overall favorite and the Rattlesnake was my favorite. The Cab Franc (never heard of it before) was amazing as well although very different. Odette was just a weird experience. We were the only one in the whole tasting room and our host was a bit odd. Wine was fine but preferred most of the Barnett we had just came from. Quintessa - Check your hotel for partner deals. They booked this for us and the normal $160x2 was free. It included a tour through the fields in an all-terrain golf cart thing and chomp on some new growth grapes, etc followed by the tasting inside which included some cheese/fruit/nuts etc. Great experience and wines. Round Pond - Nice patio for the tasting which included some wine food as well. Gave us almost a full glass to go to walk around the grounds and the garden that there on-site chef uses. Was a nice add-on and able to enjoy some different views. Last day was sparkling day...Domain Carneros and Mumm. Pretty much the same experience at both of these where you can pretty much tailor your tastings. We preferred Mumm wines overall. Was a nice change of pace to all the cabs. Bottega lived up to the hype. Excellent meal for our anniversary even though a little loud and crowded. Buchon on the other hand was loud as hell and tables way to close. Waiter was literally shouting to talk to us. Food was good though! Sticking to Yountville and wanting something more casual we tried La Calenda. Obviously Tex-mex it is not, but enjoyed some of what we had. Oakville Grocery is a great spot for lunch before wining. Shit, this is probably the longest post I've ever had. Overall we had a blast and wife already wants to go back. Thanks all for the recs in this thread!
  25. Same for me, but remember he wasn't too good at playing school his sophomore year.
