  1. I guess we could start a separate thread but it's sprinkled in the 2 weather threads now. I've just been checking this page for city updates. I'm on day 3 of no water in Circle C. Best case seems late Sunday or Monday for turn on. http://www.austintexas.gov/article/operational-updates
  2. There's already two winter weather threads, but do we need a separate one for Austin water fuckery?
  3. Cute little wiener you have there.
  4. Haha, saw that...couldn't solve DIS__SSING IT WITH MY IMAGINARY FRIEND. I want to say he guessed a P at that point.
  5. If they have water, I may go just to take a shit and not need a bucket. I do stink a little though.
  6. I was able to close my front door with cord pressing in the rubber jams. Maybe I need to fix the gap under my front door.
  7. Water goes out pipes at the top, right, so no way they can empty with no water pressure coming in?
  8. Derkaville power beats Austin energy and PEC apparently
  9. The street outside my house looks like pure ice in south Austin. Problem is forecast is only 33-34 today so may be hard to access what the afternoon will look like. My brother drove here in the snow from Buda with his two kids. He just found out he has power now but is likely stuck with us another day/night if roads are iced.
  10. Allegedly it absorbs the ice expansion and not the skimmer itself. Mine’s actually not frozen even though pool is. Just three a half filled milk jug in and out cover on top.
  11. Just catching up but this is what I did at 2am last night. Still no power. Broke up all the ice with a shovel and will do the milk jug in skimmer, etc
  12. Sorry, it's only been about 6 weeks with SWCG so no issues to report. I sealed the stone coping with some shit that was $170/gal so it better work.
  13. Haha, based on my above posts I could be your neighbor regarding the automation. But as you said, have to draw the line somewhere. I did go SWCG, basically in place of automation. If you've read Trouble Free Pools, I'm sure you're aware, but you can avoid CYA creep by using pure liquid chlorine.
  14. Are those trucks skidding the whole way? Massive line of brake lights should be easy to spot in the dark.
  15. I downloaded the manual and there is no setting for speed. Says will run on max speed for 8 hours once temp is reached. Temp can be set from 40F to 34F or something like that. Thought that was lame too. Hayward Tristar vs 950...supposedly a pretty decent pump. I can deal with setting manual timers < 10 times a year. I haven't worried about the few low 30s or high 20s nights we've had. This 9 degree shit is different though.
  16. I turned off the auto cold setting on my pump because it only runs at full speed which is too loud for me since it's right across the wall from my pillow at night, but I've set a timer to run half speed all day. The SWCG won't run for a week but I got the chlorine up pretty high to try and coast and algae isn't growing in this water temp anyway I don't think.
  17. So about the upcoming weather...just run pump and hope we don't lose power? I'm barely out of start-up phase so obviously didn't do anything to prepare for polar vortexes and shit.
  18. 2 more next week as well so $2/game for a one month subscription.
  19. You might want to remove everyone’s edit permissions or we might have a bunch of 7s all of a sudden
  20. Fuck it, I just added 2 more.
  21. My notes show 6 weeks for me. Stone coping and tile was pretty fast after gunite, but the concrete deck guys plus cleanup took a month and we only had 200 sqft of deck. Throw in Thanksgiving for another dead week. But again, I had a pretty smooth experience all together. Here's my notes if anybody gives a shit. Not included is the meetings with builders, etc...just from making the decision and telling builder to go.
