  1. Get used to the sound of that hammer and the vibrating of your foundation for a few days.
  2. We had to "finish the scene" later in the night.
  3. Our anniversary was yesterday and during the afternoon we picked up various charcuterie from Pieous and took it out to Dutchman winery. We were sitting there under the oaks enjoying the wine, food, and the weather, looking out over the vineyard, reflecting on things and I turn to her and say: "I find the pastrami to be the most sensual of all the salted, cured meats."
  4. Been killing these the last week. Make it year round!
  5. Can we not have to scroll past a huge gif to see the topics?
  6. Well shit, I guess Goya is a conglomerate from NY. I stand by the chili I made though!
  7. I intended to make chili using more or less the recipe above but while HEB was open, it did not have dried chiles. Where they normally would be was the Fiesta Chili powder packets so went with that. It called for making a little roux with oil and flour and frying the spice packet with some cumin seeds, so I added that to what I had already put together with other spices I had on hand. I like to add a Sason Goya packet or two at the end for some MSG. It was the best I've made by using all powders. I killed the leftovers for lunch today since we officially have chili weather.
  8. Oh, I realize I hate neighbors without moving first. Finding something exactly like you described was difficult so decided to invest or improve this home instead.
  9. 10 posts and nobody has questioned the "chili" yet? Surly chili police is slipping bad. Shit looks good Etex!
  10. I'm jealous of the land as well. Here's my suburb yard pool so far.
  11. So this board will be no different than 80% of the rest of the site?
  12. Gunite day today! It's exactly three weeks since excavation finished so I guess I'm not doing too bad timeline wise.
  13. Sounds like a network problem. Been using Chrome on Macbook for several years. As far as bookmarks, if you're signed in to Google account, all that should be with your account and not stored locally or with the install.
  14. Just regular window latch that all windows have was sufficient, or height of latch matters? I was told they need some mechanism that limits opening to 4". There are the cheap stops that screw on to the rails but I don't know if that's sufficient.
  15. Also planning one of the cheap stick on door alarms and I suspect like most people, I plan to toss it or return it after final inspection. It's the 10 windows I have, I'm not sure what to do. My upstairs windows all have the stops that spring into a hole in the frame at 4 inches open and then you have to squeeze them in with both hands to open further. This type of things I believe also passes code but I can't find a simple to install device like that. Would like the exact same as the upstairs as it's very clean looking. I'll ask my builder for more detail on what he's seen before next time he's out. In the gunite queue for now...
  16. 2014 is the only other time I've missed the game in the last 25 years and I did the recipe TonyTexas posted above I'm pretty sure. They turned out pretty good as I recall but I also re-created the fair experience by starting drinking at 7am and fried them up just before kickoff at 10:45 or so. I might try Mitch's recipe this year.
  17. Anybody got product recommendations for getting the house door and windows to code for inspection (I'm in Austin)? Door alarms seem pretty easy to find, but I have 11 windows that need something. I was told window stops are ok but need to be ASTM F2090 compliant and not finding any simple/inexpensive solutions that state that.
  18. That grey layer of rock that runs all around is what took so long to drill through on our excavation.
