  1. A way to look at mass shootings/murder is by frequency and magnitude. Death per minute is a metric to understand magnitude. Rate of fire, caliber, capacity, etc. all have an influence on the magnitude of these mass shootings.
  2. Is there a similarity between “muh guns” and “muh tendies?” A person on a couch in a basement might feel that they have a right to tendies for dinner. Anything that threatens that right triggers an outcry of emotion, fear, and threat to their identity.
  3. We need to: - elect progressives - reform campaign finance, get the gun lobby out of DC - expand the fairness doctrine to cable news, neuter Fox - implement a licensing system: only those that have a demonstrated need for semi-automatics can possess one - implement a registration and buy back system: track or remove semi-autos from the population
  4. Guys. Everyone knows it was the fault of all the mean lefties saying mean things to all the gop victims
  5. No one is saying that dipshit. Fallacy of extremes and a strawman. Logical fallacies are a sign of weak position. If your position is weak, change it
  6. Episode 5 of conspiracyland focuses on fox’s amplification of the Seth Rich conspiracy. https://podtail.com/podcast/conspiracyland/
  7. CULTURE WAR!!!!!! don’t worry about about corporate and high earner tax cuts, booming deficits, citizen’s United, net neutrality, unaffordable healthcare and childcare, open corruption by the admin, and unsecure elections
  8. This. There is huge voter block in the US that is incapable of holding GOP politicians accountable. That voter block has been captured by right wing propaganda and the “culture war” to support politicians that act counter to their interests. The classic Fox News, talk radio propaganda has become amplified further into crazy and conspiracy as the online, Facebook, psyops, Cambridge Analytica stuff has taken off.
  9. Facebook is one of the many reasons we need campaign finance reform. There is no appropriate reason that the fucks are still unregulated
  10. Fresh Air episode with Jan Mayer where she breaks down what happened to Franken https://www.npr.org/programs/fresh-air/2019/07/25/745252157/fresh-air-for-july-25-2019-journalist-jane-mayer-on-the-accusations-against-sen?showDate=2019-07-25
  11. No one should be laughing and this isn't some big offensive step. They are simply doing what they need to in order to get information from the administration and DOJ
  12. I agree immigration currently is not a winning issue for Dems. This is sad but very true. Immigration is red meat to Trump/Bannon's version of identity politics. The emotional fear and tribalism triggered by immigration is a powerful issue. Look at what is has done across Europe. I don't know yet if impeachment is a winning or losing issue for the Dems. I'm hoping more crimes pop-up, hopefully from trump's finances, and impeachment can become a winning issue.
  13. No dude. She just gave you her number. You haven’t called it yet and don’t even know if it’s a real number.
  14. This appears to be so the courts will provide the house judiciary committee the grand jury materials associated with the redacted mueller report
  15. To add to this, what is the audience for all of this? Who is the focus of this politik calculus? Does it have to do with a small slice of voters in a few swing states? The slice labeled “undecided”? Cambridge Analytica would label the “persuadables” for those that have seen The Great Hack
  16. You are asking the right questions. How does impeachment in the house influence the 2020 election? How does impeachment timing affect it? What about impeachment that includes financial crimes? Where, in the calculus of all of those variables, can me maximize the potential to win the game and remove potus?
  17. I also was not using ‘friend’ ironically. And at the same time I am dismissing the notion that we need to act now, that we have to have impeachment now, that we need to satisfy the feelings of angst toward our current situation, that we need to succumb to desperation. I understand you want impeachment because of the uncertainty. Ideally, calls for impeachment would be based on it increasing the chances trump loses in 2020. Those calls should be based political calculus. I don’t know the answer to that calculus however trump wanting impeachment while Nancy holding steady carries a lot of weight in my mind. If you need something to focus on, look to the status of subpoenas in the courts and the status of receiving trump’s financials. No impeachment will occur until financials are obtained. Why would anyone feel that trump losing 2020 is a sure thing? Why would anyone think standing pat is what would do it?
  18. I get the sense you want an emotional win and impeachment in house would do it for you. Im afraid I don’t care about your feelings. Sorry, friend. The only thing that matters is removal of potus. Removal as fast as possible. Everything else is just a means to that end.
  19. And you very well may be correct. Impeachment in the house and failure to remove in the senate may very well increase the chance trump loses 2020. Impeachment should be based on political calculus, messaging, polling, politik. Impeachment should not be based on emotional angst and whining. The only thing that matters is whether it helps or hurts in the election
  20. So your understanding of “winning” the game is impeaching criminal potus in the house and then watch senate not remove. That isn't the game. The game is removing criminal potus from office as fast as possible. The fastest way to remove criminal potus is by him losing the 2020 election, removal by the electorate. Everything needs to be conducted and timed in a manner to maximize the potential that criminal potus loses the election. Understand the game
  21. You don’t get that, or you wouldn’t have made that comment. It isn’t clear you understand what the game actually is. What is this game you speak of?
  22. Those lazy lefties just need to remove criminal potus with a 2/3 vote in the senate
  23. I listened to a right-wing talk radio show last night during a late drive last night from fort worth to austin. Apparently when Comey was FBI director, he placed two spies in the white house. It wasn't clear how Comey did this or what the spies were doing. This is apparently a huge deal but no one explained why. The talk show host indicated he filed three FOIA requests yesterday to get to the bottom of it; however, we are going to have to wait since the FOIA process takes a really long time because the deep state always fights back. The whole thing left me with a funny and sad feeling.

  25. This is the correct answer. We need to remove the criminal potus. There is only one way to do it. Everything needs to be timed and focused on removing potus by the electorate. People on this board need to come to grips with the fact that a GOP senate is not going to remove him. Yes. It sucks that our potus is a criminal. Yes. It sucks that our potus represents the interests of his family's pocket book and the interests of other countries. Yes. It sucks that we are global embarrassment. Elections have consequences. Strap your boots. Change your panties. Cowboy up. Nobody said this would be easy.
