  1. Counterpoint, wife actually scolded me for singing this too loudly when I was spreading some winter rye seed last week. Told me "those songs aren't appropriate now".
  2. From the look of that list, they tryin to ban the flava. May, I miss the 60s when some people actually cared about not being racist, or being labeled as racist. You white people -- you're doing a bad job at policing your people.
  3. I'd like to give another thank you to the "GOP" which wants to ban a bunch of books.
  4. Fuck that. I'm can't see ever being cool with our joining that wall-eyed clan of chomosomally challenged drooling fucks.
  5. Jason and the Argonauts (1963) on at 7 tonight, you poor little children. Fighting skeletons and giants is bad enough without having to do it without your pants on. Terrified me from my earliest memories. Every time I see a big statue I expect it to do this to me.
  6. Although I thought England colonized India, not the other way around.
  7. Ha ha! Best worst thing ever! I loved it. Black Phillip with a cameo at the beginning! MP and the Holy Grail ruined everything Camelot! Guardians of the Galaxy ruined every fox character! I felt like Mr. Littlejeans after he saw Heaven and Hell.
  8. The consistency of the ideas that the brain trust behind Reagan championed was about a 1000 levels above anything passing as ideas in the Trump administration. When Reagan became president, conservative publications were high quality, consistent, and they were engaged in a pretty interesting battle of ideas with liberal publications. Firing Line and the news shows were actually edifying. Good God, I'd give my good testicle for us to be engaged in the kind of policy debates that underlay elections back in the 80s. Trump stands above them all as a uniquely vile piece of shit.
  9. Actually, doing the rural rural areas gets Collier more name recognition amongst liberals and moderates in urban areas, as long as his travels among the rubes are publicized. I didn't think Beto was going to get anywhere with the hayseeds, but his travels gave him some hardtack appeal -- to people who were predisposed.
  10. Ditto. Now I have an actual good reason for not giving more money to the university.
  11. Why dincha just piss off, Fischer? Ya dotty wee skid mark!
  12. Good God that Gooden district. Tilting at windmills is going to keep me in shape the next 10 years.
  13. Awesome. While I was bitching about my state rep being from the Park Cities, I just realized that instead of being represented by Colin Allred, I'm now represented by Beth Van Duyne -- "the new face of Trump in Texas" in Congress. I'm basically a tad north of White Rock Lake and she represents Tarrant and fucking Southlake. South Fucking Lake.
  14. Nope. Maybe what will turn out to be arguably some inside info but I'm not saying.
  15. Thanks! Ha. Looks like they carved out a section of Lake Highlands from 114. I'm now in 108. Honorary Park Cities, bitches! "Hello University Park Police? There's an older heavy set Spanish gentleman who is walking up and down my street knocking on doors. He's wearing a red Keep Hope Alive t-shirt, tan trousers, and red shoes... I hadn't thought of that but he may be retarded."
  16. Ever so often I do the Steve Martin wild and crazy guys "slap my hand, black soul man" to the younger kids at family gatherings. At Christmas, I am heard singing "I don't care what the white man says! Santa Claus was a black man!" The first is a little racist. The second, a form of flattering empowerment.
  17. Sorry if already asked and posted. Is there a good map out there that shows all the new Texas House Districts? There has been some movement around the edges of my district and it looks like the Dem I thought was running is now running elsewhere and we have two who have just announced.
  18. I got the booster first, and then the flu shot one week later. Either the flu shot, or my little grandson crawling with day care goo, gave me a three day hard case of the crud.
  19. At some point, we just have to say fuck him and fuck them and move on. For me that is now. Sure it's dangerous, but we won't alleviate the danger by criticising Trump or his supporters. We'll alleviate the danger by supporting those who support democracy and who are trying to do the right thing for the right reasons.
  20. I have to admit, I watched it because I'm good friends with one of the Newman player's dads, and Arch was just a bonus. My takeaways a) kicking games for both teams not strong. b) I thought Arch looked really good for someone having a terrible game.
