I’m gonna guess “Proshares” is going to be looking for a senior marketing director very soon.
Guy just threw away a (mid?) six figure job I’m guessing.36 minutes ago, AngryDragon said:One of his old tweets had a picture of some cycling shoes which match the exact ones in the video. I guess I need to take my lumps. Could be this guy too. Former cop.

It's too early to tell for Bangkok/Thailand, but is not optimistic.
They've effectively kept borders closed to arrivals for nearing 2 months and just extended the closure for another month (through June). They're letting limited repatriation flights come in, they're also now setting up some hotels to be quarantine hotels in prep for letting some foreigners enter, but these are likely to be people with work permits or permanent residency. Everyone who enters has a mandatory 14day quarantine. There is also talk about the local CDC coordinating with certain countries that have good control of Covid to set up travel agreements to allow people from those countries expedited entry. Given the current situation, it's very unlikely the US makes that list.
Hoping things will be under control enough to lift the 2 week quarantine by late fourth quarter. Was planning to spend another 2-3 months traveling around Asia playing golf and visiting friends in Korea/Thailand.

That’s fair. I just wish I had a better option than Biden. I’m going to vote for him but he certainly doesn’t make me super excited.
I think it's safe to say most of us are in the same boat. But when you've been eating shit for 3 years a stale piece of bread looks like manna from heaven.

Our country and way of life are on the line. I don't know how anyone can remain indifferent or ambivalent at this point.
As a gen Xer I have way more faith in the millennials on down than I do the older generation of Americans.

The death spiral is right. Democrats in these cities have done jack shit to curtail police abuse of minorities. LA, SF, ABQ, Philly, Minneapolis and a ton more large cities are full blown Democrat top to bottom. Those cities are as shitty to minorities as Salt Lake City, Phoenix/Scottsdale. They just go out every couple of years to make it seem like they actually give a shit about African Americans. The entire system is fucked up. Our federal government is a shit show on both sides of the aisle and nothing Biden does will improve it. The only benefit Biden gives you is that:
A) he is not Trump
B) when he dies two years in to office he gives way to a younger, (hopefully diverse) female VP to be president
I only need A.

Doesn't Harris/Demings have to be the obvious pick now? I like Warren but Biden seems like he'd get a huge bump from Harris or Demings with the current situation.

Yeah, the fuck is that supposed to mean?
The best defense they have are "he was gonna die eventually of heart disease anyway amirite?"Hmmm...this sounds very familiar to another thread in DT.

As a Mayonnaise American who lives in a the wealthy part of Prince George’s County, MD, I also see it, in so much as the traditional infrastructure will allow it.
I think this is changing in the Asian demographic at least in my social circle. Growing up most of us did fit into that model minority/keep your head down and work hard stereotype but the last few years woke most of us up. The two Trump voters I know of haven't said a word about politics in years and we look at them like dumbasses whenever the subject gets brought up.

That entire family should be mired in lawsuits and fighting off jail time until Barron is old enough to grift a future generation of Republicans. I am going to be seriously pissed if the next administration doesn't investigate every illegal thing that happened for the past 4 yrs.

Ok- so I’m a big chicken about winding roads up in the mountains. Every time I go to Colorado in a normal car I freak the fuck out going to breckenridge and say never again. Is the a flat road through the Rockies well to the north? I don’t want to drive a 33 foot rig thru switchbacks at 8 MPH with cars stacked up a mile deep.
Was just gonna ask if you were skipping Colorado for a reason. Either way, trip sounds awesome and your kids may remember 2020 for the rest of their lives for something other than COVID.

Seriously. Jesus Christ. Golf is probably the one thing he has actually put work into and that ugly ass swing is the result? No wonder he needs the foot wedge.

We can't contact trace because Americans love freedom too much. A certain segment of the population won't wear masks during a pandemic because of freedom and how independent America is at its core.
Meanwhile the Senate passes this and we won't hear a peep from these freedom fighters.

A lot of great recs in this thread.
Train to Busan and I Saw the Devil are generally two of my recs when people ask what to watch if you don't mind the gore.
Some other movies not mentioned yet:
New World
Master
Along with the Gods
Mother
Korea makes some really great comedies as well.
Speedy Scandal/Scandal Makers (Amazon Prime)
Miracle in Cell No. 7

How many in the last 30 days per the cdc? What news channel are you watching?
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm
Note: this is the actual cdc website. I'll understand if you duck away and not reply. There's a reason it's only 30 thousand on the CDC website and 60 thousand plus elsewhere. It's even stated on the website. Figure it out.

Thanks Surly. I used to only think about Bob's when Norm HItzges would lipsmack his way through a live ad. Now that picture is going to be seared into my brain every time I see the restaurant or hear a live spot.

For a little irony given where this virus originated I've found that now H Mart is the first choice grocery store I go for everything I can get there and only venture to regular stores if necessary simply because that's the only store that doesn't have fuck head Karen's and Bubba's walking around with no mask getting in your personal space. The Asian population here takes this more seriously than anyone else and no one is without a mask.
HMart is a Korean chain. You'll see them in almost every market that has a decent sized Korean population.. They've gotten pretty popular with the other Asians as well so the secret's out. The food court in the Austin location is pretty damn good.
People in Korea regularly wear masks during the summer because of China and the pollution they cause with the yellow dust they send over. So they're used to getting f'ed by China through no fault of their own.
One thing I've thought about recently when it comes to the vaccine. If a vaccine is made I hope it comes from some place like Korea or Taiwan or Germany. The last 2 countries that can be counted on to handle it properly is China and the US.

In South Korea news...they reported no new domestic cases for the first time since Feb and they've been in the single digits for new cases for the past 10 days or so. They're also in the planning stages of providing antibody tests for the entire 51 mil population. Mind blowing that the US and Korea had their first case on the same day.
Here's an example of the type of quarantine kits they're providing for people who have to self isolate for 2 weeks when they get into the country.

Used to go to the original location all the time when I was in school. Loved the fried pickles and fries. Never got the hype about the wings. There's so many places that do it better. Once you've had KFC(korean fried chicken) it's pretty hard to eat anything else.
