  1. sanctions may not do anything you want and then the ordinary people are losing their live savings and property for nothing. I would rather have pinpoint airstrikes on the leader palace and be done with it quickly.
  2. Lebron is quite smart, remember how he can recall like 15 consecutive plays at any point in a game when grilled by reporters? Lebron's raw mental horsepower is much superior to Trump, Bron is naturally mentally sharp, Trump isn't.
  3. separation of families at the border and even worse is the logistical/purposeful inability to reunify. Tariffs on allies, tariffs on desperately poor Rwanda moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. Having f'n Kushner, who has financial holdings in the Israeli settlements, be the damn lead negotiator in the faux proceeding which are engineered to screw over the Pals even more, rubbing them into the dirt, then even lower. It's so sadistic really.
  4. US sanctions are smashing Iran's ordinary people which is generally why I oppose sanctions. The elites are not so hypersensitive to minor or moderate absolute (but not relative) reductions in purchasing power. Venezuela - cannIbalism coming soon?
  5. he's a liar, but also rough around the edges due to laziness.
  6. it's not a big deal at all to miss it 11 to 8.5. Let's not crucify him for minor details, maybe for bigger ones.
  7. i'm saying it will go back to "normal" whatever that is. Even the Dem base changes, everything changes in 10 years. But the main point is when these Rudolph Hess cabal guys leave, it's going to be your father's Oldsmobile.
  8. no , but it's a stretch to jump on a guy for minor details. Hell, Obama mentioned "57 states" once and the right jumped on that. I say let the little poop just drop without fanfare.
  9. do you think W was a racist and sexist? Trump is such a sociopath that it's hard to cling to his tail for too long, even eating his own allies in Congress. In comparison, W looked like an eloquent affable uniter.
  10. is mistaking an 8.5 point margin for an 11 point margin really a big deal? I mean there are 50 states, PR and Guam, is a candidate supposed to memorize all?
  11. the fractured R party will heal after Trump. Educated white men and women will return (those who switched or were disinterested in politics) - after the rapey sexist xenophobe is gone forever. If they get a more reasonable gentlemanly person, they're back in business.
  12. A sign, abandoned by the Portland Justice center. the Portland Justice center abandoned the sign?
  13. the first guy looks like a Duck Dynasty character, then the young bald guy was from Full Metal Jacket who killed himself in th restroom. The clincher was the girl who refused to be kissed.
  14. the Carter bashing has become a very overdone cultural norm. Most of the late 70s problems were not his fault by a country mile.
  15. the events of the late 70s were beyond anyone's control.
  16. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/former-president-jimmy-carter-92-builds-homes-for-poor-while-trump-watches-golf-a7842551.html While Trump enjoys golf, former president Jimmy Carter, 92, is building homes for the poor Mr Carter returned to work on a building site after being taken to hospital for dehydration, while President Trump kicked back at the US Women's Open
  17. losing the Rec center would be a tragedy. Just blow up the FEC and use that space. Play all road games.
  18. so i put this together trying to understand the Senate races from 2000-2014. Total 2 party votes swell considerably during POTUS years so that's probably one reason Beto is running now, avoiding 2020 and the Straight Ticket where he is not on the top of the ballot. In non POTUS years, the Rs are 2.49-2.85 million votes. I think we get 5.5-6.0 million votes this turnout total and with a 2-4% lead, Cruz would then be up at this moment by perhaps 110k-240k votes. In POTUS years, the Dems top out at 3.39mil votes, so the votes are there. I don't see Cruz enthusiasm at the polls and a lot for Beto. Do you think a heavy turnout favors Beto? IMO a 6.0mil turnout makes for a Beto win by 100k votes. Are early voting results advertised? A super close race would energize the Betonians. What do the numbers tell you?
  19. yes we know that already, but it's the same result for the victim. It's actually quite offensive to the victims of the family of the guy who died to say, well "at least it wasn't a hate crime". These laws actually downsize the crimes against people not in a protected class and are ironically discriminatory.
  20. this is a more sensible reason, not that Cornyn is an infinitely better legislator. How is that measured anyway?
  21. and why is that more important than any other reason? Even if it 'scares' other gays, scaring people isn't a crime - threatening them directly would be a crime, no?
  22. why did Beto decide to go up vs. Cruz instead of Cornyn? Is this another sign for Beto eyeing 2020 (pun) for another office?
