  1. It was about $100. I get the idea that I got 8 holes of value, but truly the two most important things to me were to post a score and to get another round of data with my Arccos system. Those both got totally ruined, and for no reason. If they had offered up front "hey pay $25 and we will let you play 8 holes with 3 strangers while waiting on another group" I would have easily declined, much less paying $45 for that privilege, much less paying $100 for that privilege along with a $55 voucher the next time I want to drive 300 miles round trip for golf. I do also understand that my preferences aren't their responsibility, but when they randomly decide to close a golf course despite hours of daylight available, there was no way I could anticipate/plan for that. Yeah, exactly. In addition to the problem of this being a wasted time/money, the "value" I get is basically worthless. I have to drive 300 miles round trip to not even get a free round, and not even half off if I play on a weekend. Basically the prorated rain check would have been annoying either way, but the fact that I could have gotten everything I paid for easily and was denied that opportunity AND denied any real compensation just pissed me off pretty badly.
  2. Was +8 through 8 trying for my 4th straight round around 90, working hard to lower my handicap. Playing pretty well, playing tees a bit further back than I normally would. Had a gross triple where I hit a sprinkler head with a beautiful 7 iron approach that went flying into junk and then my pitch stopped riiiiight before a big downslope which would have taken it down to the flag and I 3-putted. Lightning moves in and they blow the horn. At about 4:45 (sunset just after 😎 they announce they are closing the course. Very little rain had fallen on the course, so no conditions issues (there had def been lightning, I don't fault the hrn). Radar and forecasts indicate everything should be clear about 5:15-5:30. I had played 8 holes, so I get a prorated 10 hole rain check at the weekday rate. I live 150 miles from the course so that's really not helpful/valuable. The other players who were around were all locals/members so no big deal to any of them. I get not wanting to have staff stay for one guy, but at least help me out with some actual value? Was I wrong to be super steamed about this? I feel like I had $100 stolen from me, and never would have teed off if I thought them closing the course after 0.1" of rain and still hours of daylight left was a possible option, never had that happen before.
  3. The sauce was really good and complemented the other flavors really well. It's on the sweeter side and definitely has some Asian influence, but it isn't like a hoisin sauce or anything like that. The brisket and rice comes with it on there, so if anyone thinks they wouldn't want that, know that going in. But the flavors really work well together, especially with some of their house-made onions and jalapenos (which have a bit of soy sauce to them) mixed in also.
  4. Brisket and Rice slammed and went hard. Demolished the above and got a to go order to take home to the wife with ribs and the BBQ fried rice. All excellent and well with going out of your way for.
  5. Intergoogles says not open Monday, but I'll add on for future visits.
  6. I'm driving to Galveston for work Monday and back Wednesday. Hitting Brisket & Rice Wednesday. Any place from Austin to Galveston open and worth hitting on a Monday?
  7. Was Q4o not suited, I def hate doing that to win blinds in a small stakes game where people aren’t going to fold often enough and we have literally one of the worst hands in the deck for how it flops. Agree Q4s, J9o, 86s etc obv fine.
  8. Yeah all the dipshit rural red yokels who don't live within 50 miles of a non-white person all buy their guns because of crime in the inner cities and not because they are cave-brained needledicks.
  9. Each room has different caps for different stakes. I think Bellagio actually has a $300 cap for 1/3. It would be good to have extra money on hand to top up to 300 if you lose some money, or another buyin in case you get stacked of course. Some rooms have a "match the biggest stack" or "match 80% of the biggest stack" buyin rule, but I don't think the B does, but not positive. Lots of people will buy more than $300 in chips when you check in and just have the extra in $25 chips in your pocket to add (only between hands and only if it doesn't take you over $300).
  10. Every player who won a Heisman at OU has a statue.
  11. You showed when you called? Or he mucked before seeing your hand. No chance he shoves an 8 then mucks it without seeing.
  12. This. Plus you should never reverse engineer your strategy for what your opponents specific holding was. For every time we execute the “fold QQ to AK when A or K flops” plan we also execute the “fold QQ to JJ who jams the K94 flop bc the pot is huge” or the “lose out on stacking JJ bc they fold an A94 flop when they would have called off pre” plan.
  13. Watched the doc and loved it. See they used this line in the doc so more of a “no shit” post by me sorry about that! I think it was just something I had internalized from that song but probably you haven’t sat and listened to Reunions much since it isn’t your fave.
  14. From It Gets Easier: “You can't expect her to follow your lead She's fine with wine and her weed”
  15. This has been paid out, with 50% going to Surly posters (Driskill through Derka) and 50% going to people I know (a lifelong friend and my brother). 254 was the winning score. Best possible score was 390, so lots of missed opportunities for everyone. See ya next year!

  17. Trying to think of a worse line with $150 in front first to act holding 9h9x on 77583hhhh than "bet $100, call off the rest" but can't do it. I would also just jam your A6ss on flop if you're calling off a jam anyway, we would definitely prefer to maximize fold equity rather than have someone spazz with middle pair trying to get us to fold something like 99. But it worked out! Nice sessions!
  18. Can we please have him arrested by the absolute meatheadiest, steroid-ridden, "STOP RESISTING" cops we can find? I'd definitely pay four figures to watch him just get bludgeoned ruthlessly about the head, neck, torso, and shoulders, tazed, and other assorted fun.
  19. So it's your position that the WaPo fabricated the autopsy results of actual people when this would be easily verifiable? Also the judges that I have talked to in my job who investigate these deaths also all lied about the results of these weapons? They all conspired to lie about identifying these kids by their clothing and/or DNA? Deeply and sincerely, absolutely fuck you.
  20. You have continued to fail to 1) understand bail; 2) provide a reason why a defendant putting up $$ makes the community safer as opposed to actual restrictions such as restraining orders, house arrest, etc. You are just a puppet for the grifting ass cash bail industry as well as the lunatic right who screech bullshit about criminal law while simultaneously wanting criminals who are conservatives to never face a single consequence.
  21. You cry about tax dollars, then cry when something that saves tax dollars (house arrest) is implemented. Do you think bond conditions, protective orders, GPS monitors, etc., are all worthless but somehow some scumbag bail bond company putting up money makes a person safe? Do you think having money means a person isn't a threat? Robert Durst had a high bond set. Guess what? He posted it then MURDERED HIS FUCKING WIFE SHUCKS SHUCKS SHUCKS DIDN'T WORK OUT FOR THE GIRL. Bail doesn't prevent crime either, so don't act like it does. Did you cry when Chris Beard bonded out and weep for society, when he was charged with the same offenses this guy was?
  22. He was placed on house arrest and given other bond conditions. Those are quite frequently more effective in preventing recidivsm than simple monetary bond (especially since despite what the mouthbreathers believe you can't just set bond in an amount you know they can't make, and THE REPUBLICAN TEXAS LEGISLATURE has passed Art. 17.15 which requires that the defendant's personal financial situation must be considered). You've been crying in this thread about your tax dollars, so a judge did something that in most cases is effective in accomplishing the goal while not making the taxpayers cover this guy's room and board. But you don't care about any of that or your hypocrisy and just want to point out a time when it didn't work and throw shit like a zoo monkey without knowing anything about what you're talking about.
  23. Imagine being such a soulless sack of shit that you would vote for (and contribute to!) a worthless scum that voted against this bare-ass minimum legislation.
