If there is one truism on this site, it’s that anytime someone starts a statement with so… they are about to hallucinate and falsely attribute some argument to a person.

Abbott’s recent actions have been flash and pop to get attention, but the immigration and border issues are quite real. Something tells me a poster with the Ukraine flag as their avi like pyro has almost no personal knowledge of that. And I thought the damage from Abbott’s shenanigans was $200M. It’s substantial but you’re bumping it by 20x.

    Google, 1 second later: https://www.dallasnews.com/business/economy/2022/04/20/economist-says-gov-abbotts-border-inspections-lost-texas-42-billion-and-36000-jobs/

Being against a shitty ass law, written in haste without due consideration of the consequences, that outlaws something that isn't really happening anyway in any significant numbers, does not mean you support what the law bans.

Immaculate Vibes has repeatedly suggested that anyone who is against this is law is a pedophile. If he did that to my face, he would get punched.

Similar to the TX abortion ban.  That is such a terribly-drafted law that violates every concept of due process, regardless of your feelings on abortion. I would oppose the bill if it replaced "abortion" with "child molestation" because it is a ridiculous law that creates massive legal problems, and no one who actually believes in what this country stands for would support "any random person who wasn't impacted in any way whatsover can sue someone wherever they want and if they don't file an answer, get a judgment for thousands of dollars."  But I guess Republicans like child molestation more than abortion, because that's what they tell me when they allow me to sue a stranger for driving someone to an abortion clinic but not for molesting kids.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

So Greg Abbott costing the Texas economy and taxpayers 4 billion dollars for a one week stunt of detaining trucks at the border wasn't "flash and pop" and was instead good governance based on logic and common sense solutions and not masturbating publicly for the feeble-minded?  Fuck outta here.

There’s a few idiots for sure that support the things you’re saying.

The condemnation of the Florida bill is almost unanimous on the left. One guy that’s running for governor in New York said he didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. That’s all I’m aware of. I’ve also yet to see a left poster on this thread act like this is anything other than a travesty. Maybe I’ve missed it. Or maybe they’re just not posting their opinions. Same thing goes for weirdo Libs of TikTok. Oh they’re just reading some fun books to Kindergartners. Like Sparkle Boy.

Are you saying there are "a few idiots for sure" that support things like vaccine misinformation, the Big Lie, etc.?  That's part and parcel of the Republicans today and if you are Adam Kinzinger or Liz Cheney you literally get exiled for not going along.

As for the rest, Serak explained exactly the issue. For example, the Jen Psaki clip linked above is completely harmless. But the scam that works so well on the ignorant masses on one side is to pair that clip with some video from LoTT, and act like Psaki is endorsing the video, which is a blatant fucking lie.

  5. Precisely, as well as placing school districts and teachers at risk of liability/termination/etc., at the whims of any random dildo who wants to push back on things like the things listed under OBV OK in my earlier post. The idiotic way it was written makes tons of perfectly fine conduct technically illegal, and trusting hateful morons to not abuse that fact is not gonna cut it.

No. txSooner was imagining a world where a lefty had a site that compiled cringe videos that would put Rs in a bad light. That could certainly be spun up.

The difference is if that were to happen prominent people on the right would disavow that content. We currently have literally every public figure on the left and every poster here supporting the people on those videos. That’s what you’re missing.

Prominent people on the right are currently supporting anti-vaccine disinformation and supporting false claims that the 2020 election was stolen, at significant harm to our fucking democracy, so spare me that they would oppose anything. Trump "both sides have good people" when one was fucking white supremacists for one easy-ass example. And again you just fucking LIE AND FUCKING LIE about what public figures on the left and posters here support.  STOP FUCKING LYING.

Except imagine a world where whenever DeSantis or Abbott is asked about it, they say “hell yeah I like the N word!” Or “I support priests that molest kids. In fact we need more contact between molesting priests and our children.”

You mean like when DeSantis said it should be illegal to tell a kindergartener they can be anything they want to be? Or where DeSantis spreads vaccine misinformation resulting in Floridians deaths? Or when Trump calls Mexicans criminals and rapists?  And by definition, all of the establishment peopel that cover for the church and support their tax-exempt status are absolutely supporting the massive tradition of grooming and sexual abuse that is rampant there.

Democrats are not advocating that children be "groomed" into being gay, largely because they understand that's not a fucking thing. Democrats are not advocating for sexual education or instruction to K-3 kids. This is an insane logical fallacy where a group of hateful mouthbreathers has established in their feeble brains a truth that "Discussing that gay people exist or supporting tolerance for gay people or reading a book with a gay person in it is sexual education.  Democrats support those things. Thus, Democrats suport sexual education to K-3 kids."  It's an embarassing, small-minded, ignorant lie screaming into the howling wind of history, just like those who stood up against interracial marriage, etc., and are now on the shitheap of history.

Propaganda by omission is an extremely successful technique, especially when you have an audience that isn't great at critical thinking.

What libsoftiktok is doing is cherrypicking the most upsetting videos, posting them without context, and centralizing that outrage to be broadcast by fox and OANN and the qanon internet. It's an outrage engine that's been developed over several accounts, by a person who is not trustworthy. She's been one of the originators of the "gays are groomers" axiom that conservatives and fundagellicals have been pushing. It's a distorted and dishonest representation of reality.

Her actions are leading to school officials receiving death threats, parents and children literally being run out of town, and is distorting the local discourse to a point where teachers are getting threatening emails from random people saying they'll "kill all the marxists" because of a "transgender agenda".

The amplification of something tiny into a wedge issue that eats all the oxygen for other issues is absolutely disinformation and propaganda. It is not an honest depiction of reality. It is manufactured and engineered to get your hate going at maximum chooch so that you don't stop to consider if you're mad about something that actually exists.

Exactly. It would be the same as if I started a "Trumpkins of TikTok" account and just had videos of backwater rednecks dropping the N word (and hey if some of those are actors playing it up, so what, it's representative amirite???).  Or "Evangelicals of TikTok" and it's just videos of priests getting sentenced for molestation (though those are tough to find, since the church so readily and frequently covers it up, but I bet we can make it work.)

  9. So the right wing thinks that K-3 is just too young to be indoctrinated into the idea that gay people exist and being exposed to those ideas "grooms" kids to be gay. Why no focus on indoctrination into something that is actually, ya know, a fucking decision instead of the way you were born?  Shouldn't there be a "don't say God" bill?  After all, why should kids moldable minds be exposed to these concepts?  No more Christmas parties or Easter events, no books allowed that say God or Jesus or feature pastors or priests (speaking of grooming). Why is it OK to plant seeds in a kindergartener's head about religion, which is a choice, and not sexuality, which is not?

Currently in Florida, a kindergarten teacher can legally describe explicitly the murders of the Holocaust and state that the actions were justified because Jews are less than human, but not "Sally has two moms because sometimes girls like other girls." Why exactly are there all these bills to stop discussion of CRT and gender, but none aimed at stopping endorsements of white supremacy, Nazism, or advocacy of the Big Lie that the election was stolen?

You cannot have classroom instruction on sexual orientation, K to 3.  Whether it is heterosexual or homosexual. The words gay, lesbian, homosexual are not in the bill.

There is zero reason for a teacher to be giving classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity with kindergarten children.  Most sane people agree with that.

AGAIN you just ignore and deflect. Answering in a basic sense of why Sally has two mommies or having a book that has a married gay couple isn't "teaching sexual orientation", except to ridiculous snowflake ghouls who simply want cruelty to those different from them.

Kindergartners do family tree projects in my kids’ schools and all kids are asked to bring in pics of their families. Two of the kids in her class come from families with two moms. At what point does talking about family cross the line? Well the law is so vague (on purpose) where that project in Florida could cause some parent to sue the kindergarten teacher. GTFO with your bad faith troll job

Separately it’s interesting to see GOP in FL go after their own state’s largest employer. You really want to shut off corporate campaign donations, and run off job creation? It’s like they forgot what really runs politics: corporate money. Good luck making enemies with entities that can spend limitless funds on your opponents

It would also write off Disney's 2B debt to a cost of $2,000 per family in those counties, but Republican Governors pullling political stunts to impress the 75 IQ crowd at a cost of billions to their own taxpayers is en vogue this season, just ask Greggy.

It does not do that.  I prevents classroom instruction.  Not mentioning you have a spouse.  And it does not target same sex.  It applies equally to any sexual orientation,

Also bullshit that it doesn't target same-sex. If a book is in the curriculum and features heterosexual married partners, no problem. Homosexual married partners, ope, now we are "teaching sexual orientation"!!!!

  13. Just now, Johnny Sack said:

I have read the text of the bill.  That shit isn't in there. It bans classroom instruction on gender identity or sexual orientation.

And it's why even half of Democrats support the law that prevents sick purple headed degenerates from talking about sexual orientation and gender identity with kids that aren't theirs.

So if during class, a student asks the teacher why Sally has two mommies, and the teacher says "sometimes women marry each other and they can have kids", that won't be framed as "classroom instruction on sexual orientation"?  Because DeSantis has literally explicitly said telling a kindergartener "you can be whatever you want to be" violates this bill. The author of the bill says a word problem that mentions "two mommies" violates the bill. The fucking preamble of the bill itself says the objective is to "prohibit classroom discussion" of these topics. So uh yeah, it is in there, Johnny. But keep on your with your boogeymean of "sick purple headed degenerates" OOOOOO HAIR COLOR SO FUCKING SCAWY.

Also you now say at the end of your post that they can't "talk about sexual orientation" so it seems you agree that shit is in fact in there.

  14. Or at least that's what brain-dead fucking imbeciles who think math textbooks that mention African-American mathematicians are CRT or that mentioning a same-sex relationship is educating kindergarteners about sex or grooming them to be gay think. It's too bad there are millions of these brain-dead fucking imbeciles, because they are an incredible fucking anchor on our country with their gullibility, susceptibility to grift, bigotry, stupidity, and hatred all rolled up into one ball of dipshit.

Amazing how the same yokels who always scream about FAKE NEWS are the first dumbfucks in line to believe this shit.

  15. I had heard they were booked until 2024 but didn’t think that could be right. I bet they work you in.

Yeah insane! I’m fairly hopeful esp since we would be willing to switch rooms a time or two during the trip if needed. I’m sure a lot of people grabbed spots as a just in case and then cancel or move dates. Fingers crossed! Just wish I could be looking forward to a booked trip instead of hoping we get to go.

  17. We went in late February and got great weather.  I don't know how many of the courses you are playing, but if you have to skip one, Old Mac, to me is the weakest.  Some people love it.  Play the par 3.  We did the lighted up night putting at the punch bowl and it was really really cool.

Thx! We are gonna play all 5. Gonna play the Preserve (13 hole par 3) arrival day. Then one a day with either Shortys (9 hole par 3), Preserve, Punchbowl, or replay after as daylight, energy, and weather indicate.
