  1. They are short dealers so anyone planning to play should register very early to avoid being an alternate or shut out. The 7p tourneys tonight and tomorrow are cancelled. I bought into the 5p flight for today and noon tomorrow at same time at 2p today just to avoid it. Lonnnnnng lines to register now also, guy just got to my table and said he was waiting in line an hour.

Agreed, unfortunately it’s not my call.

Also, the slope/rating of courses you play factors in too.

Speaking of cheaters; Huge and I won a tournament when we were both 18 indexes. We were actually 18s but we ham-and-egged like sonnofa bitches. Everyone assumed we were cheating sandbaggers.

Yep. I've always been very inconsistent, which means I'm going to have some rounds where Steady Eddie will have no chance against me, and especially some nines. My career low (82) was directly preceded by a 106. I have a 38-55 to my credit.

Also, I literally have never used my handicap to directly gamble, it's solely about ego, so if I could drop 6 shots tomorrow, I'd definitely do it. I hate when my index goes up.  Here are my current last 20 scores with par in paren and slope/rating, without ESC adjustment:

    Spoiler

    95 (70); 68.8/129
    96 (72); 69/118
    105 (72); 68.7/121
    96 (72); 68.8/111
    89 (71); 68.1/116
    103 (72); 70.3/126
    106 (72); 69/127
    103 (71); 70/117
    101 (72); 69/118
    102 (71); 68.1/116
    103 (72); 69/124
    99 (72); 69.6/127
    93 (72); 67.4/120
    100 (72); 69/124
    95 (72); 68.2/110
    97 (72); 67.4/120
    105 (72); 70.4/125
    93 (72); 67.2/113
    105 (72); 67.4/120
113 (71); 67.4/110 - This round was in August 2020, and capped a 4 round shanks barrage. Before those rounds, I had a series of rounds where I would shoot mid-40s fronts and mid-50s backs with some hosels mixed in. Had the index down under 20 before those rounds.

I’ve had covid. I’m not getting vaxxed.

My spidey sense is tingling when I see how much natural immunity is downplayed or dismissed. Pharma stands to benefit greatly from potentially indefinitely mandated vaccines in millions of people that don’t need them.

Legit question - there has been some evidence that the vax is more protective across the board, whereas the natural post-infection immunity is more limited to the specific strain. I would agree it's not a lock this is the case. But let's say it's even 10% likely. Why would you risk the possibility of a strain that your infection immunity doesn't help with instead of taking 20 minutes and paying $0 and getting vaxxed?

  4. No offense but if you’re shooting a 43 on a nine you are not a 24.6. If you are recording those scores your handicap should plummet.

I’m recording. Shooting 95 on a par 70 isn’t moving the needle too much though. I also shot 38 on 9 as a 25 or so, that was a long time ago. My last four nines are 53-43-43-52. So if you get me on the 53-52 day you win easy and if you get me on the 43-43 day you think I’m a cheater.

Anyone played Canyon Springs in SA? I am doing the very foolish act of playing 36 with the 2nd round at the Quarry.

I have played it about a decade ago and enjoyed it. I’d rather play it second since afternoon on back nine on Quarry is brutal.

shot 43 on back 9 last time out, again carrying a 26 course handi, so net 30. 7 bogeys, 2 pars, and could have been better, had one absurd hop into a water hazard, and had multiple spots getting down in 3 where I would get down in 2 more than half the time.  Gross 53 front, including 2 hosels and 2 missed 2.5 footers, but solid 96 after a triple-quad start.

Had course handi of 28 off a 24.6 today, and shot a 43 net 29 on front haha. 3 pars, 4 bogeys, 2 doubles. Greens were slow and wet, so I struggled, 19 putts on front. Played solo and knocked out front nine in an hour. Caught groups and it bogged down and lost my rhythm on the back, closed triple-triple for 52 and 95. Almost entirely an exact reversal of last round. Index dropped to 24.1 after logging it.

  6. A lot of the bullshit has been culled out of the election bill thankfully. The poll watcher crap is still bad, there can be no temporary/portable structures used as poll locations (why?) and another huge issue is the "vote harvesting" section is super vague. I bought people donuts who then went and handed out literature and asked voters to vote for me. Arguably under this bill, that makes us all felons.

This has been explained, oh I don't know, maybe 1000 times on this board over the past 6 months? At this point, you have to just assume the people who trot out the "why do you care what others do" line are either trolling or incapable of rational thought.

Right, it's the same as the fucknuts who say "if masks work, wear yours and don't worry about me" when it's been said 27 million times that the mask is primarily keeping the wearer from spreading the virus rather than receiving it. Fucking dullard dolt muppets.

  8. Why wouldn't you get vaccinated?  Who wants part of their team out for a game due to Covid while the team you're playing is at full strength?  NCSU's baseball team should be a lesson to all.

  9. I was playing in a 1/2 cash game at Rounders in San Antonio. I think it was a limped multi-way pot, maybe one raise, and the flop was a Jack with two insignificant cards. Maybe a weird straight draw possible, but it was a dry board. Guy leads out, there's a call, and the button shoves for like 10+ times the pot. Everyone folds of course and button shows J-J.

Haha yeah I was playing 1/2 at the Venetian maybe a decade ago now. Dude limps, button limps, SB completes I have check in BB with 83. Flop 832. First limper jams $200 into the $8 pot. I call and he has 88. It’s like wtf are you dooooooing and why did I become collateral damage ha.

  10. Turn in your scores, you wont be a 26 for long...

Also once you get a handicap to a certain level you wont even be able to put a quad on your card.

I’m turning them in. Currently 24.8 index. The software auto applies ESC.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if the bombers can avoid the pot bunkers; because they can be a harsh penalty

Yep. Also St. George's is notorious for lots of random knobs and bounces and obv those are harder to account for the more you are throwing it out there. Brooks mentioned there are lots of blind shots and shots where you aren't hitting at anything which feels bad for that strat. We shall see!

I think Rahm will be the trendy pick, and will end up cancelling out a lot of picks if every has him.  I'm feeling

    Bryson, Schauffele

    Louie, Hovland

Jordan, Lowry, and x (Casey, Fleetwood, Westwood, Morikawa)

Bryson is not in great form and his plan of just smash driver 350 and see will not work well in this environment IMO. I agree with the above poster on JT.

  14. Thinking about making the trip to Brenham on Saturday for Truth. How early do I need to get there for an 11am opening?
Another option I’m considering is City Market in Luling. Haven’t been in years but loved it. How’s it been holding up?

I had City Market a few months ago. Brisket and sausage were both very good. It cant compete with the top end places anymore, but then again it’s about half the cost and the meat room in the back is still one of my favorite places on earth.

  15. I have a pair of tickets on the aisle, pretty straight on to the ring, 6th row 2nd level for Money in the Bank. Sec 224, on the aisle between it and 223. Bought directly from TicketMaster, will be at the event so I can meet you there. $240 for the pair.

Disappointing to hear about the understaffing and places still closed. i'm rethinking my August trip. I might reschedule for 2022.

I was in Vegas the week before last, and really didn't run into any issues. Crowd was markedly improved over my April trip. Obviously there are pockets of troubles and there are things that can come up, but it also isn't impossible to dodge. We ate at:

    Mon Ami Gabi
    Saginaw's Deli (Circa)
    Bacchanal Buffet
    Secret Pizza
    Caesar's Food Court

and never had a wait or service issue. Only had reservation at Mon Ami, and made that the day before with several slots open. Gambled at Venetian, Palazzo, Caesar's, Cosmo, The D, Circa, Aria, no issues with seating or beverage service. Was there Mon eve-Fri morn so can't speak to weekends.

So essentially I win if Texas wins 9, you win if Texas only wins 7?  I'll have to think about it.  Number was better at 7.5. 😁

correct. And the price is better at 8 tho! :D
