  1. Evan LeRoy tweeted a few days ago that for the foreseeable future the plan is likely to shut down about 3 to clean, reset, and cook more food for dinner service, doesn't mention when the re-open time target is.

  2. Against an agg willing to ram and jam to force folds, I think I close my eyes and click call.  I think 3b flop is also fine against this player type to then not price in BTN with draws and such. Not saying calling is an error, just saying I think 3b is viable. Would you jam hands like QT or ATcc here? Then have to have some made hand jams.

I also don't hate folding your AK and AA here on the turn when you have Ac, and calling when we don't have Ac.

They're not though.  The tide is rising for sure, but they're sinking all on their own.  The last two times I went to Smitty's, their brisket was burned up dried-out shoe leather.  Seriously-- inedible.  It absolutely wasn't that way before, it was always my favorite in Lockhart.  And Kreuz' is also worse than it was before, and it's definitely now below what I'd consider average.  They seem to be more interested in entertaining large buses with lots of tourists, than actually serving good food.

Black's is really the only one I still care to eat, and it's not what I'd consider excellent anymore.  But that one might actually be a case of them staying the same, and everyone around them getting better.  The other two, though-- definitely significantly decreased in quality over the past decade+.

    100% this

  4. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but am a pretty big Michael Myers/Halloween fan. Lots of little Easter eggs for fans of the other movies.

    PROS
Definitely some innovative and very violent kills.
Some pretty humorous moments, along the same lines as the kid in Halloween '18.
    The afore-mentioned Easter eggs.

    CONS
Some of the characters make dumb decisions (per standard horror movie rules obv)
There is definitely a bit of the "Two Towers" thing where the middle film in a trilogy suffers a bit narratively
There is a section where people devolve into mob mentality, which I thought was solid/effective, but others have complained about

I would go 7.5/10 from my perspective.

  5. I think if anything, flatting 950 with 450 behind looks stronger and less likely to be a draw than just jamming the 1400 effective. What, are you flatting A5cc for 950 and then folding the 450 on the turn? If stacks were deeper behind the 950, like if you also had 2k, I think flatting is much more viable.

I would generally call the $95, but also am not generally playing this deep, so would be open to the idea of raising. It definitely looks very strong to raise a larger than pot-size bet with the PFT still yet to act, which is why I would be inclined to call. Knowing that CO is willing to get $1000 in on the flop into a $75 pot with one pair def makes me appreciate the value of raising, b/c it sucks if he's willing to just dump 200 blinds with QQ here, but won't if a club or A or K comes on turn.

    Had several items today:

Dallas Hot Birddog - 7/10. Tasty alternative but can’t touch the original but I must have that for the first time 8 am tomorrow.

Gumbo Balls - 7.5/10. Quite tasty and pretty solid size. Not worth $25 though but if you have a group of four and all throw in and eat half a ball and some okra, tasty.

Fried chicken Alfredo ball - 9/10. This was great, a solid amount of food for $12 also. Strong recommend.

Peach cobbler soul rolls - 10/10. Soooo good. Do it.

Coffee toffee crunch cake. - 6.5/10. Solid but dense and filling quick.

Frozen spiked frappucino - 6.5/10. Also solid, tasted like a Baileys and coffee, cool and refreshing but just felt a bit basic.

Fried frito pie bites - 9.5/10. Do this every year, do it if you haven’t.

Fried pancakes - 7/10. Tasty but get filling fast also. A lot for the $8.

    More tomorrow!

    Saturday's haul:

    Fletcher's Original - 10/10. Perfection, as always.

Fried Butter with cinnamon sugar - 9/10. This is our 1-2 punch every Saturday at 8am for this game. Never disappoints.

Bacon Jam Corn Bombs - 6.5/10. Fine, but we were expecting home run.

Fla'Mango Tango - 7.5/10. Had in 2019, was 9.5/10 then, still good, but not as special. Quite tasty and refreshing though.

Fernie's Fried Burnt End Burrito - 8.5/10, was also 9.5/10 in 2019. Still quite great as a chill in The Dock after the game and split treat to restart the food train.

Quesabirria - 6.5/10. Fine, nothing super special or outstanding, but tasty.

Lemon Ice Box Pie Rolls - 8/10, they were out of the cream topping, which really would have been great. Very tasty, but a tad dry, so the cream might have taken them next level.

Fletcher's Texan (brisket) - 9/10. Totally good, but the original is just the king, period.

Fried Grilled Cheese. - 6/10. My dad got this, it always sounds amazing, but the crust is less crispy and more greasy than I want.

Texas Easter Eggs - 7/10. Wanted these to be crispier/meatier, but they were more cream cheese consistency. Wife loved them. The spicy ranch or whatever to dip was good.

Brisket Banh Mi - 6/10.  Too much bread, brisket was just OK. Could eat it totally fine if presented as the only option, but not worth the coops/stomach space, sadly.

The Armadillo - 7.5/10. Good flavor for sure, was a touch melty and tough to eat out of a paper bag. Pretty huge, as it should be for $16.

Also 4 waters, 2 choco milks, a sweet tea, and a Shiner, all lovingly layered on a bed of Elijah Craig and THC.

  8. goddamn how much did all that set you back?

We have four of us and split a lot of it. I had $140 in coupons from 2019, which is now worth $280. I have about $185 left now. Multiple bottles of water were listed and not consumed and a free lemonade at Fletchers as an apology for the wait on the bird dog. It was only about 7 minutes though. Really nothing too bad on speed of service except the gumbo balls.

Yeah, winner gets the Big Noon slot.   Loser has to go up against the ALCS or NLCS games in the evening.

I had read, but can't verify, that ABC has first pick this year (OU-Texas on ABC lends credence to this), and that would mean the winner would get the night game, presuming opponents don't do something that is more shifting to which game is valuable than the RRS outcome.

  12. I’ve come around on this. I’ve decided it’s not a meaningful part of the tourney from a chip standpoint, allowing you time to get the table to fill up without the risk that comes from 5-6 handed play. I play super nit and make a point of really studying the other players. Even know their play likely isn’t standard either, you can pick up the essentials on their personalities.

With 20k chips or something sure. Playing 100/100 with 60k start stack is silly. Starting 100/200 does all that you say and then you can add 300/500-500.

Recently I went to a concert where a screenshot wouldn't work. They had a motion scan barcode and it wouldn't scan unless the motion was present. I wonder if these would be the same as that's the only event I've been to since 2019 and the first time I've seen that

Interesting!  I def know people have used screenshots of other digital tickets that I've been with. I always just toss them in my wallet.

the above may apply to those of the okie persuation.... however  its not accurate for anyone wearing burnt orange and entering the Fair at Gate 5.

Being as this year is #29 in a row for me in person you should listen to me as I am pre-law.

11am kickoff = 7am gates open at gate 5.  ive literally valet parked at that gate since 2002.  Its always open at 7, get in, pay, and then head into the fair, where the ticket booths are open with no lines.  Get your first fletchers and wax cup beer by 7:20am.

Now, if you are waiting in the parking lot to pre-game, have a bunch of cheap beers and then wait to 8am, I guess I can award you some points for that. but otherwise, its open at 7 every year. ( even last year).

last 2:30 game was 2017,  I got there at 730 and the gates were open then as well (although almost no one was there until 930+).       The 2010 game was 2:30 as well.  but I know I was there before 8am as well.

Yeah the 7am-745 window is due to consuming vodka in the parking lot haha. Also the food vendors state that they aren't open until 8. I don't need to go into the fair until corny dogs are available for purchase. Are you saying that they are selling corny dogs and beer at 715?

Its like Im taking crazy pills here!

10am for an 11am kick is wall to wall people
    10am for a 2:30 kick is brisk

11am kick is really a 1035 kick because of the lines getting into the stadium. If you dont get in line before 1045, you will miss the start of the game.

8am is 8am. Thats when I want to wake up. Feel free to get to the Fair at 8am no matter when the game starts.

For out of towners, 230 allows people to drive in and out at reasonable times, getting back to Austin or Houston late. But not having to leave town at 4 or 5am. You can actually enjoy the Fair.

You morning people can still wake up for your 5am walk for a 230 kick.

Fair no open at 8 when 230 game, so no you can't just go in.  Normal fair open time is 9 for parking lots and ticket booths and 10 for buildings/food/etc. They modify it for 11a kicks but not 230 kicks. And at 10 for the 2017 game it was absolutely butts to nuts trying to get anything.  I will have a beer and a Fletcher's in 12 days at 8:02 AM, same transaction in 2017 took 20-30 minutes.  NOPE.

  16. New space at The Lodge is really, really nice for anyone who hasn't made it out.

Played Flight 1D of their $1125 1.25M guarantee Main Event Friday.  Great tourney, super structure (I'd replace the worthless 100/100 with a 300/500/500, but still).  Good dealers, really comfortable, etc.

Chipped up consistently all day, winning tons of non-showdown pots and making a couple of good thin river calls. But went 0/3 on all in pots, and can't win that way.

First one, I defend BB headsup with AT, flop T74, turn T, get it in, he has 44 and we can't find a T, 7, or A.

Second one, dealer accidentally exposes one of my cards, a five. With the replacement card, I now have AA.  Get it in pre vs QQ, Q in the window. Literally the only exposed card I saw in 7 hours, if it doesn't happen, I obv just fold pre, when it does happen I have a HUGE spot with massive edge for a giant pot, instant fucked.

Third one, get TT in pre vs AK, flop T54, turn 2, river 3. Obv a flip when it gets in, but seriously fuck the fuck off.
