Better yet, what were OU's adjusted offensive numbers going into last year's RRS? I didn't catch the game, but I bet we didn't have a chance.

Not arguing that it means OU is a lock, WP posted that OU's RBs were "frankly not good" and also that the OL had taken a big step back. Pretty hard for both of those to be true, and OU still be dominant in the run game in all metrics. For the record, assertion #2 is accurate and #1 is completely absurd in every way.

Also, OU's adjusted numbers looked exactly the same in 2018 on one side of the ball and dramatically different in 2018 on the other side of the ball. I would expect 45 points will be enough to win this year.

Just keep sittin' there, man. I've already planted my flag in the 'yards aren't the proper measure' camp, in case you hadn't noticed. You know, back in the day, Chuck Weatherspoon had a shitload of yards per carry. That didn't make Jack Pardee's Houston teams "a good running team".

So what is the proper measure of a run game if not adjusted yards per carry, in your opinion? They are also top 10 in adjusted rush yards/game and #1 in adjusted yards and adjusted points per possession.

    Murderers row for sure....

Right, sure, though maybe the Pokes have differing thoughts on the relative worth of Texas Tech. The point was the difference vs. Tech & KU as compared to vs. UCLA & UH, and those two groups of teams are roughly equivalent to each other.

Really good stuff. I haven’t seen any of OU since the UH game, but it was really obvious in that game how much worse their OL was compared to the last few years. It’s still a pretty good OL (that’s helped a lot by the scheme), but it’s a huge step down from last year. I think Coburn and Roach could have really big games and Ossai too, if Orlando let’s him play the edge enough.

I’m not sure if Hurts can beat us from the pocket. Against UH, it was look to the first read, then scramble. I definitely don’t think we should drop 8 every play, but we also shouldn’t bring 5 very often because we do a terrible job of keeping contain when we blitz. Orlando will have to walk a thin line of mixing up coverages and fronts while not going too far to either extreme.

Yep, big step down for the OL this year.

Hurts has been much different in the pocket the last 2 weeks, much more willing and able to progress through the reads. Obviously, things may be different in the Cotton Bowl in that environment, etc., but he looked MUCH more comfortable vs. Tech and KU than vs. UCLA and UH.

Yeah lazy take - those dudes are ripping off almost 10ypc albeit against shit competiton.

Yep, could def call out OU OL and safeties, but the RBs are pretty excellent. Clemson is averaging 1.8ypc less than OU, Bama is averaging 2.6ypc less than OU, neither of them have played any worldbeaters either.

OU was #1 in the country in YPC last year also, so it isn't just some random fluke because of 5 weak opponents this year. OU could go 31 carries for 0 yards Saturday and still be tied with UGA for ypc.

And their running backs frankly suck anyway (partly because their line can't run block for shit).

    LOL JFC.

    Stevenson: 29 car, 315y, 5 TD
    Sermon: 45 car, 345y, 4 TD
    Brooks: 25 car, 206y, TD

Total is 99 car for 866, looks like 8.6y a carry.

OU is averaging 7.9 yards per carry, #1 in the nation. #2 is Georgia at 6.8. (Texas is #42 at 4.6 ypc).

  7. StubHub will have last minute pickup booths in Dallas. Pretty sure they actually have one at the fair. Can't take it alllll the way to kick, but closer than you could if they didn't have those, and you still get to take advantage of the desperation.

StubHub is brutal on higher price tickets though, because the fees just make ya wanna puke.

They might play but this isn't Riley playing mind games. They're banged up. Both missed the Kansas game and their reporters were saying they would probably miss the Texas game last week.

The semi-credible OU reporters I've heard think that Ealy should be back, but probably not Swenson. OU has started 5 different OL combos in their 5 games, definitely something to watch for.

5000 calories for $100 in coupons is a solid deal.  Wife, kids and I went bye week Saturday and easily spent 100 coupons per hour over 5 hours.  4 Fletchers and 2 beers set you back almost 70 coupons right there.

That's a per person minimum, not a cumulative!  I may try to keep a running tally this year, and really should be able to rack it up, since it's gonna be in the 60s instead of the 90s like the last couple years. We also usually share lots of items as a group to allow maximum variety, lots of items if you just did it yourself, you're getting KO'd too fast.  Obv everyone has to have their own Fletcher's (or 2). I had two and a Cheesy Pup last year.

  10. I'm gonna need a wetter board to fold AA with a SPR of less than 3. It doesn't take many straight/flush draws in his range to give us a reason to go with it. Also we have literally the top of our range here, the best hand we can possibly have, as I'm assuming we don't make it $12 here with 55 or 77 OOP, and even if we do, we aren't ever leading 775 is my guess. So if we are folding this, we are folding 100% of our range.

Can't fold it against a player who is "splashy."  Give me OMC in a WWII veteran hat and yep. Or maybe someone jamming over the $100.

  11. Yeah, the best thing about the 11am kick is all the vendors are open by 8am. When we had the afternoon kick a while back, lots of them didn't open til 10, and then there were lots of lines and rabble.

Our plan every year: Park at the fair by 7am. Drink in the parking lot til 745 to create a solid base.

Corny dog at 8am. Fried butter with cinnamon and honey at 820am. Food court at 830am, assorted foods and beers.

    Enter stadium at 1030am.

Leave stadium at 3pm, head to the far corners of the fair away from the shitshow on Nimitz.

Hang until 10pm, consuming a minimum of 5000 calories and a hunnerd dollars worth of coopins.

I had one two weeks ago where the first game pushed and I still got paid for the second game I'd parlayed it with. Not sure why.

If one leg of a parlay pushes, it is usually treated as if that leg didn't exist (so on a 2 team parlay, you would basically just have a standard bet on the other leg).

  13. I wouldn't play OU here. First half line maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if Brooks sits, and LOTS of 2s and 3s get lots of playing time. 49-20 type game.

    Ohhhhhh haiiiii
  14. If he has the flush draw on the QQ hand, he’s not shoving turn because he has literally 0 fold equity (obviously). He will just call the 55 on the turn and get in if he hits and fold if he misses.

Also we can’t build a turn strategy around what the actual river card came. Sure, if we check back, we are calling this river. Other rivers we would fold. Other times it goes check check and we lose but save the $55.

On the 88 hand, do we think they have better than us and we are making them fold it? If not we are just winning when we had the best hand anyway and losing a ton when he has an ace.
