  1. Texas must anticipate this to be Florida-like even if it is not and look at the Ole Miss game for guidance on how not to start slow and allow them to stay in the game. Our last non-rivalry regular season night game was Iowa State in 2023. We won by 10 and this feels comparable. Expect fuckery and for Kentucky to punch above their weight. Any word on Calzada’s status?
  2. I beg to differ. We never punted after our second possession yesterday. Finishing drives in the endzone will come, but I think we finally found a template.
  3. Arch produced basically all of our offensive output yesterday. Everything else around him was absolute shit. He was forced into hero ball and it almost paid off. There’s no doubt that his preference is to throw deep, but that’s also what was needed of him as the 2nd half progressed. I don’t think Sark called for much short-intermediate passing. He still needs to work on getting to the check down faster, but I’ll need to see replays that show that was even there before making any declarations of fact. As for his accuracy, I really don’t recall many if any bad misses yesterday when he wasn’t stepping into or following through into a large human body. He can work on finding space in the pocket to avoid that, but I’m not sure how available real estate was yeaterday. Decision making and running an effective offense with audibles may still be where he ultimately falls short, but let’s give it time. Penalties put us in bad situations far too often yesterday to run a normal offense. Much of this discourse reminds me of when Sam Ehlinger was a meathead cave man who would never get better. Maybe Arch won’t pan out besides every possible advantage that could be given to a QB, but I’m not convinced that will be the case.
  4. lol Sure, pass me a glass and make it a double. I guess I underestimated how seriously we take Off-season Championships around here.
  5. I’m fine. Couldn’t be more excited for the season. I just want to earn the ranking and don’t like preseason polls in general.
  6. I should be thrilled to be #1, but it feels empty not having played a game yet. It also feels like a “build them up just to beat them down” type of situation. Our week one game vs tOSU is a win-win for the media, but I suspect they’d love to write about the reigning champs maintaining dominance at home versus the top contender for their crown.
  7. Just randomly saw that Reid got the ol’ surprise fall camp scholarship at his new school, the University of South Dakota, today. Good for him. He should do well there.
  8. Sark: “I love that shit man!” Me too, Sark. Me too.
  9. Based on Gerry’s write up, there’s 20 recruits committing over the next few weeks, and I’d set the O/U for Texas at 7.5. That’s objectively pretty good, but I’m sure some will feel like the sky is falling with so many “losses” over a short period of time. Hold on to your hats.
  10. I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure everyone loses about half of their 50/50 recruiting battles unless they’re not trying hard enough.
  11. We have the privilege of being able to stay patient in recruiting and that aligns with Sark’s strategy. Nobody should be worried in the least bit.
  12. Krush Johnson is a helluva name for a defensive lineman. Hats off to his parents.
  13. A lot of people taking the opportunity to kick Ewers while he’s down and exaggerate their grievances. He’s far from the elite talent we were told he was coming out of high school and I think some will forever be bitter about that. Nevertheless, if he chooses to work hard, make some difficult adjustments to his inner-circle, and adapt, he’ll make a career out of quarterbacking in the NFL about on par with Drew Lock. He’ll likely never be a franchise guy, but few are. That’s okay. I’m just thankful he was a Longhorn.
  14. Media: Parker Livingstone is going to be really good. Surly: We desperately need a WR to emerge! Media: Livingstone looks like the real deal. Surly: Somebody! Anybody! Please!
  15. It isn’t necessarily an indicator of success or lack thereof, but Stewart has comically short strides. Like Pacheco with less knee drive. Watching his highlights gives me a good chuckle.
  16. Who of the seven OTF 4-star(-) and 3-star do we think could most exceed expectations? I have two names in mind, but want to hear others’ opinions first.
  17. We’re going to be elite at LB and DE. Most other positions are somewhat unclear depending on draft decisions, portal acquisitions, injury recovery, etc. It will be hard to avoid inexperience in the two deep at many position groups. The spring will be pretty interesting.
  18. Fuckups are more subjective, but his last penalty was in the 3rd quarter against Arkansas. I was surprised to learn this as well.
  19. I don’t care too much, but why even have a 5 star rating system if 1 and 2 are rarely ever used. Keep the number of 5 star prospects the same so as not to dilute that rare designation then evenly distribute stars 1-4. I can already imagine all the “From a 1 star to the First Round” American underdog headlines. Everyone wins.
  20. You sound like the man for the job.
  21. I’m curious about this guy. https://247sports.com/player/jimmy-phrisco-alo-suliafu-46136853/
  22. Yes. Define “big play” if not.
  23. On Blue - Unless he’s a locker room cancer, I hope he stays simply because he’s a big play threat and because RB depth is always appreciated. As things stand now, if he left, we’d be one Tre Wisner injury away from relying on Baby Rhino, two backs returning from bad injuries, and two freshmen.
