I agree with what people are saying about the character of Vernon and his family. What I meant was that teams will not give up on him and, if he goes aggy now, I don't think his Mom would not put up much fuss if he wants to switch to Texas come signing day.
Is there a reason why the football-crazed state of Texas struggles to consistently produce many high quality linebackers. It always seem to ebb and flow with some years being stacked. Is it scheme, player development, and/or 7 on 7 culture?
Speaking of Emmitt, is EJ Smith his son? What's the story on that recruitment? Would we start recruiting him harder if Bijan doesn't work out or is there just a lack of mutual interest?
I'm starting to think that we are in a weird place in the program's progression where we can no longer sell recruits on early playing time and being the class to bring Texas BACK; however we haven't proven we can make the playoffs and produce a ton of early draft picks yet. Add in not being in the SEC (like it or not) and we are kind of stuck in a tough middle ground for recruiting. If this season goes as planned, 2021 might be better.
Honestly, if we can land a talented running back and a few more of the top end recruits we are aiming for, I am fine with the bottom half of the class being depth guys. I think we have some pretty solid dudes in the class already.
Do any of you watch the draft? Everyone is Iced out. One (awesome) piece of jewelry doesn't say much abut Jaxson's financial discipline. Who cares how he purchased it. At the very least, these guys have people offering to loan them money as soon as they are guaranteed to get drafted.
I'm fine with having different definitions. I just want to make it a yearly tradition for our players to tweet at Baker after stomping ou in the cotton bowl. Sam should have plenty of ammo now.
We have plenty of reasons to feel good about the Brockermeyers but cannot afford to take anything for granted until the faxes come through. Nobody gives up on elite tackle prospects.
Mayfield is a world class trash talker. I wouldn't put much stock into what he says. Does anyone actually expect him to say good things about Texas or our QB? This is a rivalry by the way and the fact that the national noise around our program (positive or negative) is the loudest it's been since 2010 says more about the trajectory of the program than any individual comment.
I would get your point, if the kicker was defenseless, but he was a ball carrier running at full speed who saw the hit coming. Plus half of the entertainment is laughing at the stupidity of the play call.
