Glad it wasn't the Port A golf cart adorned with 4 Trump flags, with a very large occupant ranting something nonsensical. Though that too is the sound of freedom. Freedom to be stupid is still freedom! 😉

Is it time for Biden to reduce military postings in Alabama?
horn4life replied to horn4life's topic in Cloak Room
For the Republican Party of 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023,,, and beyond... stupid is the "new smart!" Hell, in weird way I admire Fox News for finding such gullible rubes... -

IF you are a simpleton, you could assert that. Of Course simpletons are often wrong, or just stupid. Even if they are nice... But this is in RESPONSE to an individual Senator's assault on the Military. Why should more service members be placed in a hostile environment, rather than fewer? -

I don't think this has to be viewed at all as punishing a red state, it's simply acknowledging that the Senator from Alabama is hurting our military readiness because of petty politics. Since Senator Tubberville has made it clear that he is adversarial to the military, so for the first time we give military members the specific option NOT to go to states that infringe upon the rights granted in their home states. This might actually help Alabama, as the number of white racist military members would love to spend time in Alabama. The rest of the military? Not so much. Simply allow military members to redline Alabama. As well as of course eliminate any future expansion of presence. And politically who gives a fuck if Biden pisses off the whole state of Alabama. Alabama is nothing more than a welfare dependent, on the federal tax titty. Without receiving far more tax dollars than they put in, Alabama would be a ghost town. Literally. -

Just be honest, and make him wish he were in Guantanamo rather than in Alabama. -
Since Coach Tubberville has decided to stall military promotions perhaps now would be a time to simply announce the reduction of military presence in Alabama. There is no reasoning with folks like Tubberville, so why not simply say as a direct result of Tubberville's interference and desire to not have as large a military presence in Alabama. Just have Biden be direct about it. If Tommy Tubberville does not want to have any military promotions, there is no need for such a large force presence in Alabama. Since he does not like promotion in the military, perhaps the military is better based somewhere else. from http://www.almsf.org/economic-impact.html Maybe just start removing troops. No announcement, just a shipping out, relentlessly, shrinking the footprint. This is actually a sound fiscal measure, as the costs of being a woman in Alabama simply go up every year. Especially the costs of having to transport women for health care in Alabama. Should Biden do this, and point at Tubberville as the reason? Because his actions are truly impacting the military readiness of the United States, with his petulance.

Another sloppy ass game, without any damn sense of urgency, until Canada ties us up. We certainly had some chances earlier in the game but there was not the consistent build up in Canada's half of the field. It's a lot easier to do the sort of marking in the middle that Canada was doing so effectively when you fail to put the defense actually on defense with pressing and relentless offensive attacks. Disappointing game in execution, but sometimes you pull one out of your ass, and this is a game honestly we probably should have lost. Turner takes the pressure off the first take miss of "The Cincinnati Kid" that sailed over the top bar with that little lean back that fucks the take. Again great teachable moments, clogging the middle anticipating the cross is all well and good, but every time I see the ball roll harmlessly across the face and past the far sideline, I always whisper the same thing to myself, "backside!" Basically just bend your run slightly away from the goal when you are on the far side of the cross. The defender nearly always tends to drift inside anticipating your move to the middle, and that little bend away creates more space and thus more opportunity to create a good shot. Anyhow that's the soap box I will stand upon until I die. That and put your crosses on the penalty spot depth, to make the keeper's decision making a lot, lot tougher to come out and attack the ball. The one catalyst the last two matches? Cowell. The kid is raw but he has the killer instinct and size to make him menacing to the defense. I think it's hard to argue that any US player provided a greater spark to the offense. Now this is not to say he needs to give up the ball with the easy pass, rather than the thunderous shot in traffic, but that's where experience comes in. He's not a starter yet, and probably won't be this cycle unless bad things happen, but the kid has provided a spark off the bench. Again is it the fresh legs? Could be, but hard to point to a more impactful sub for the team right now. Avoided a bullet in a poorly played game. A game we needed to win desperately to give the younger kids more true high level experience. But damn the sense of urgency completely sucked.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls

How awesome would it be to clandestinely put in that old chemical into the pool of one of our rivals pool parties that provides a bright blue chemical reaction to urine. Now THAT is a prank truly worthy operation for some undergrads! Hell get the science department involved, and maybe we can make pee purple in Baton Rouge, Maroon in College Station, and on and on. I can just see the billows coming from some hot hooker-type coed... and the side eye of all the attending recruits... -

I agree with most everything you said, but I still like to retort, "You mean Low SAT University?" When I hear someone try to pump LSU. The one thing I think will be universal in the SEC, is that coming to Austin for an away game will be the single hottest ticket for every team in the SEC. Period. -

Apparently they used their jizz jar to grease the wheels and avoid the death sentence like SMU. But that's a lot of mouth to jar transfer... -
My Dad wanted some brats of all things for his 92nd birthday. We had done some killer dogs/sausages copying a place called Dat Dog in new Orleans a few years back, but my Dad wanted something simple. He actually wanted a tortilla (as is the proper way, with mustard). But I looked up gourmet hot dogs to get some inspiration and there is some new chain entering Austin called Dog Haus, and they use Hawaiian rolls for all their buns. So that became the option for everyone, rather than the tortillas. Turned out pretty damn good, as I love Hawaiian rolls anyhow. We always do Hawaiian rolls with our rib eye roasts, but I think I have a new bun for a leftover philly next go round! Just a simple Brat with Sauerkraut and mustard. But damn it was delicious!

I am actually most curious about why Pulisic has spent so much time injured. About 80% of the time it's simply trying to come back too soon. Because... you want to play. Or is he simply not durable? Anyhow he's either in the early twilight of his international career, or about to show what he can do healthy. He needs a new home as Chelsea is a fucking mess and has been for a while. Despite the amazing coaching... 😉

Maybe they all got fired because they didn't properly play Pulisic? 😉

I had two oversize tires on my F150 blow on the same trip to Port A years ago. Tore the shit out of the side of the truck, and I am still thankful for the guy in Cuero you gave me the spare off an old truck at 7pm on a Sunday night. Got me home and I dropped it off next trip back with some money that he wouldn't take initially tied to it. With two tires fubar I would have been screwed trying to get back to Austin. They were BF Goodrich TA Radials and I got them to pick up a new set because of the failure and damage. There basically is no guarantee, and that's why you try to safeguard as best you can, and always keep tools. I always have an impact driver, but it's not top of the line, in torque pounds. More to get my stabilizers quickly up and down. I keep a big breaker bar and a spare socket that will usually take care of it. But like I said before, I usually break all the bolts loose and re-torque once a year, simply because I mostly go to the coast, and the coast can rust shit solid. Reminds me I need to get some of that blue thread lock to put on. Supposedly it can help prevent corrosion on the threads. Which would make sense I guess in just coating the threads?

Bummer on the flat. My single biggest concern is that one of the tire blows and detreads and I am sitting on the side of the road trying to get enough leverage on the spinning wheel where the tire once was to remove the lug nuts. My solution was under $30 from Amazon. It's not perfect, and I think I just kept the factory settings, but it gives me a pretty accurate pressure reading on all four trailer tires. The unit runs off solar or off USB for power. It gives me an alert if high or low pressure. Won't save me from having the flat, but will let me know earlier in the process so I am not dealing with a white hot tire, or wheel I cannot get off. That reminds me I need to break all my lug nuts loose and retighten. Have not done that since the coast last Fall. It can be annoying sometimes when I have not set it correctly, repeating high pressure, but that just prompts me to visually check all 4 tire pressures with the monitor on the dash. Only replacement part is the little batteries for the wheel sensors. For $30 this cheapie tire pressure monitoring system TPMS is a cheap safeguard to perhaps letting you deal with the issue before it's a mess. Amazon TPMS $30 link

I hope Pulisic doesn't have the nagging injury issues he had at Chelsea, and I think got on the wrong side of things emotionally with the coach. So hopefully Milan is a fresh start for him. What Pulisic needs more than anything on the pitch is space. He's not a thick guy so he is undersized against even back line player he faces. He's also quicker than most he faces, and that's his advantage, but he only has it in space to use that speed. When you are dinged in the least, that size disadvantage and potential to additionally tweak an injury when trying to use the speed advantage are exacerbated IMHO. I could actually see Pulisic playing as an high attacking mid on the left. Depending on who is playing in front of him. There his speed might allow him to close the gap very quickly moving towards the goal disrupting the defenders. But he needs a little space to do this. If he is in that gap attacking then a defender will be forced to engage him, releasing from his marked player. Pulisic is pretty darn good about being unselfish, and his gap closing speed is probably more valuable to the players he would pass to, rather than him specifically being the danger. If they don't come out he gets off a shot. I wish he was a bit thicker, but then he might lose some of that speed. And a lot of folks wished Messi were taller, you get what you get. Mainly I want hime to get more minutes on the field. And if I am him, I don't give a shit where you play me, if I am standing on the pitch on game day.

Actually age of consent in Alabama is 16... of course pursuing the 16 year old daughter of a guy named Waterboarder might come with some consequences...

What I love about this thread is how easily the aggie mindset regarding Texas is transferable to so many different color BBS boards. Mirror images of the same arguments, especially the "we didn't want them" BS. It's fucking comical! -
Change will only come when there is enough pressure on Republicans in rural states. Which will only happen when they lose Republican seats in more and more moderate states. I still do not understand why the Democrats to not label every singe Assault style shooting involving body armor as a Republican endorsed mass shooting. Let those fucks answer some questions and defend against a real political attack. It's the only way to counter the "they dems are coming to take your guns" that the Republicans use very effectively despite the dishonestly of the assertion. At least in the potential Dem attack, there is larger degree of honesty.

I've wondered about goose Island, at I thought it might be a good place to have my buddy that I fish Port O'Conner with. Do they have full hookups? Or electric and a dump station? I probably still prefer the beach too much. Does anyone anchor their boat in the bay and just wade out to it? Assuming there are no boat slips nearby? But I bet a chunk of ladyfish would eventually bring in an oversize red eventually. Willie is looking for the red of which I speak!

Towel is better than nothing! It can sort of help you compact the sand if you are gentle enough with the rocking. Good thing is about a towel if you think you can make it out you just haul ass and leave it behind. My hillbilly engineer brain also says think about yanking your floor mats out and using those for traction pads in an emergency. (or your kid's lego mat! 😉 )

Doesn't anybody have enough smarts to get on your hands and knees and dig yourself out? I always carry a shovel, but hell I would dig my ass out with my hands if I needed to. I remember a few years back I screwed up and ran my old Expedition too deep off the beach nest to the Packery Channel. I only had two wheel drive and I was basically the last guy fishing the jetty on an offseason weekday. But I remained calm and did the old back and forth, just a couple inches at a time at first, then a foot or so until finally I had a couple feet of compacted sand that I could use to gain a wee bit of momentum to get my ass out. But that last goose of the accelerator is the death nail, that only lets you spend more time digging. That sand looks pretty loose, and if the entrance clogs up it's a disaster, as more and more folks are forced to stop and lose momentum with more and more getting stuck. Hope it High tide!
