  1. Looking at that HUDL you see how effortlessly he tosses the deep ball. I think the fact he doesn't need to give it 90+ percent effort to get the ball deep helps him control the air underneath the passes more consistently. At 2:34 he jakes a couple of scrambles. Not fast like a gazelle, but serviceable speed able to get first downs if necessary physically. Again Glad he's here!
  2. Can't we all just be friends... 😉 Look I revived this thread is that if you watched the scrimmage you had to at least contemplate that the kids might be the real deal after a couple years with Sark, and HOPEFULLY being and staying healthy. The fucking film tells you that. Now is that enough to push Quinn out of the role of starter? If the starting game was tomorrow, no way. But the one thing about college football is shit happens. And right now you have to feel a lot better about our prospects should "shit happen." But can Maalik TAKE the job away from Quinn? Right now I don't think so. And I think that's fine. But I also think right now that if this kid is actually truly healthy and this is the first time we have seen him healthy? And actually watched the scrimmage objectively? I would not be surprised to see this kid take advantage of an opportunity when it arises. And yeah, I think he is potentially a lot more formidable in scheming defensively against, than Ewers because of his size scrambling. But he is also unproven under the big lights. Not saying kick Quinn to the curb or anything like that. But if you don't think this kid is capable of leading this team after Saturday, I would say you weren't really paying attention. Glad he is here, showing a high level of capability, and clearly pushing Quinn. I personally was impressed, that's why I bumped the thread.
  3. For a QB coming out of the backfield at 6'5" 235 lbs I think he has decent speed from the movement we saw today when he is apparently healthy. I think he would have enough "speed" to make plenty of 1st downs in what might otherwise be a coverage sack. How fast do you need a QB who can scare the fuck out of DB's with his deep ball to cover 8-10 yards and make a 1st down with half the defense 20 yards downfield? I would say unequivocally fast enough. 😉
  4. I wonder what would happen if Sark... "Let Malik be Malik." He thew far and away the best deep balls today. And the deep balls are to get DB's on their heels a hair. Throw in the size and speed of Murphy as a way to break good coverage with a scramble? Who would scare you more if you were on defense, Quinn or Malik? Not trying to talk down Quinn just amazed at Murphy's performance and potential to change games with his feet and cannon of an arm.
  5. Tim Scott is apparently kicking the tires, and trying out how comfy the seats might be. I guess the exploratory committee is to see if anyone will give him money? I guess I understand it since the GOP wants him to be the face of the party anytime they want to drift away from the republican's largely racist base for television rebuttals of Biden speeches. I have to tip my hat to Senator Tim Scott... as the first Black Republican elected to the Senate since.... hold your breath here.... since 1881... So if young people are watching the GOP really is as diverse as they have ever been in a century and a half... 😉 https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/12/tim-scott-presidential-exploratory-committee-00091597
  6. You can get it real thin by using the backs of your wrists to lift and spin the dough slightly. The singing Mama Mia, Papa Pia may or may not have something to do with it. 😉 Basically I would use the weight of the dough on the edges to slowly do most of the stretching. I used the back of my wrists to slowly spin and later to toss just because I didn't tear the dough as much using the rounder larger than fingers back side of my wrists. I also found that the thinner the crust the more important it was that I brushed the dough with some oil to seal it before putting on the sauce and ingredients. We also would often pre-cook mushrooms for example to get rid of some of the liquid. I would often cook sausage links on the grill and poke a few holes in the casings at the end to remove some of the moisture there as well. Removing some of the juice/grease with the holes helped keep the pizza from getting runny, and after it was refrigerated you could cut thinking and consistently to get the thickness we desired. We were cooking mostly on a stone in our smaller top oven on our range. Usually at 450 degrees after a good long preheat. Not as good as some of the new blistering hot pizza ovens, but worked fine. Our cheat was to brush the crust edges with an egg wash to make it more similar to a hotter oven finish. While we always used corn meal to keep the dough from sticking the last homemade pizza I did last fall I used a new "cheat" instead of using corn starch. I realized that parchment paper had a flash point of 450 degrees. So we dropped the temp to 445 degrees and I put the pie together on a sheet of parchment paper on my pizza spatula. After it was put together I trimmed the edges of the parchment paper to the edge of the pizza crust and in she went. Again this is NOT in a super hot 800 degree oven, but a 445 degree oven. Pizza came out great and was super easy in and out of the oven with less mess to clean up from using the parchment paper as the base. I wish I had realized the parchment paper trick years ago, when a lot of our Friday nights were pizza with the kids.
  7. From my years of experience from when my kids were young the most important part of pizza making is learning to toss the dough in the air while singing, "Mama mia, Papa pia, na, nana, nana na..."
  8. All we really need to do is get funding for a shit ton of billboards simply saying: "Please vote Young People! Save Us from Rural Racist Republican Rule!" Young new voters are the only chance we have. The districts are so gerrymandered that nearly every slice of a city is diluted to where the rural (usually racist) vote can usurp the votes of the city dwellers. All the while Abbott and company praise the growth of the very areas they do not want self determination for. The reason that young people are the only way forward is fairly simple. There is no longer any accountability at all from Republicans regarding elected politicians. And because there is no accountability to can elect and re-elect an Attorney General under felony indictment avoiding his day in court for years upon years. So young people are the only hope.
  9. Here's the deal to me. Do some of these kids not watch their fucking film? Especially when it comes to playing time. Do they have the drive and quite frankly anger it takes to outwork and usurp a talented starter to get your minutes. Hunter got more and more minutes as he improved over the course of the season, but he could have gotten more minutes a lot earlier with a higher level of play. Look at Marcus Carr this year vs the year before. He simply did not live up to the billing year one, but he worked hard and became the player that everyone expected him to be. Mitchell simply could not consistently play at a high enough level to push other more experienced players out of the way. And why was that? Usually... it's less than stellar defense, and an unwillingness to work hard to further develop your talent. Defense is the one really unselfish part of basketball. You need EVERYONE to play good defense. If you don't play good defense you are letting everyone else on the court down, as you are the weakest link. Basketball is the one sport where a reasonably talented player can cash a pretty decent paycheck if they have talent (even if their defense is weak) as there are so many international leagues out there you can make some pretty good coin for a couple years. I think because of the team size, the portal and NIL it will become more and more rare to actually build teams over time. It's gonna be attrition and replacement over, and over, and over. And in a way, that may actually not be a good for Terry as some coaches. As I truly believe he values his relationships and building them. And that may be hard to do with the disrupter that is the portal (combined with NIL). I will also say that with Terry's desire for defense nearly any talented player could benefit from improving their defense, and in turn their NBA prospects. Because of these uncertainties, that is why I say we will find out soon if Terry can recruit. I know he has recruited well in the past, but the portal and the NIL have changed the game dramatically. But like I said we are going to get a report card very soon, as players are now able to start signing on the dotted line up until May 17th. Hopefully we can get a signing to build some momentum shortly. We are in the mix for some good names, now we just need to close one or two to start defining the team for the remaining players out there. And we need more NIL money, (ask Miami).
  10. Basically I am saying that as the Head Coach at UT we will find out how well he can use his new position as a recruiter. History is exactly that, history. Right now he has a lot of kids that left, many sort of expected. So we will see. Terry was always a hire that was a damned if you do and damned if you don't. For me there are simply not enough data points to make an educated guess one way or the other. But we will know soon as the portal will determine all. Terry could flop. But he earned the job and there simply was not a coach with a big enough splash to wash out the negatives of not giving Terry a chance. Doesn't mean the Basketball office would not like some good press rather than just exiting player articles.
  11. So worst case scenario is 3-4 years of Shaka... 🤪 With all the moving parts in the Portal you can't tell what's what until the dust settles. Like I said a while back, we are gonna find out pretty fast if Terry can recruit or not. And right now some folks are feeling like their date to the prom just told you that they are going with somebody else and you are scrambling to find a date... any date! Right now things a looking a lot more tenuous than they were. And anxiety is rising. Let's hope and pray that Terry can indeed fill the slots in the portal. I know that Terry and everyone in the BBall office is hoping to hear something, anything positive.
  12. I am just trying to figure out what a dick storm is... But it doesn't sound good.

So how big is the market for Gnome and Fairy housing? 😉
  14. I thought it was the password to the Divorce Thread...
  15. On the one hand I thought Morris would get the minutes he wanted because the pathway was there. But the DV charge apparently is not going away, so you have to factor that into things from the coach perspective. I think that Terry wants to build a team that is a family, and having part of the family facing a DV charge isn't the best advertisement for your "family values" that I think makes Terry attractive to recruits. Now you can always sell "second chance" love in justifying keeping a kid like Morris who I also believed had significant upside. But if that same kid who may embarrass the team, also has an attitude problem about not being able to push out Carr and Hunter for more minutes? That's a head case for me as a coach. Now I do not know this to be true, but I also don't think it's too big a stretch to think that Terry may not be crying over the loss as we might expect. I would expect that Beard would go after Morris, if for not other reason that to try and show he can take a Texas kid away. It's what I would do if I were Beard if just for the news cycle publicity. I honestly never want to lose a kid, and I am praying Hunter comes back because the second half of the season he finally started getting his Freshman year mojo back. Terry may know more about the NBA feedback and projections than any of us. I would expect UT to have a fairly good evaluation of this for any of our players that are potential NBA level prospects. So Terry may already have Hunter penciled in as returning. I am praying again and again for Disu to return and put on the pounds that I think will give him a prosperous and longer NBA career. I also can't cay that I am not a little nervous right now about our recruiting because there are so many moving parts. The good news is we are all going to get a pretty good idea of Terry's recruiting prowess or the lack thereof shortly. So hopefully we will all be backslapping exclaiming our praise, but you can't help but be a little nervous until all the ink dries.
  16. Hey anybody replaced any decals? I have one shitty one on of course the front of my trailer. I scrapped most of it off last year and there is a little bit of decal at the top where it was hard to reach, and mostly just adhesive residue. I was thinking of buying one of the 3M discs to remove the residue as I worried about potential staining or gelcoat damage if I used goof off or something similar. I have the replacement decal, (which will likely suck as well) but just need to get down to a smooth clean surface before I put the new one on. Suggestions?

  18. Yeah you know I bet it is the fucking anode. Thanks. Still a newbie on some of this shit. New Anode, need to order a new one. The rig above is a pretty cool here's one for sale for $99,000, named BigFoot with a YouTube video of the rig.
  19. Perhaps I should have said that it is factually accurate that throughout all of history there has been homosexuality. Even when they masses could not read or be exposed to drag shows... I was using the "God Made" as a reference to the supposed beliefs of those that are afraid books will change their sexuality. I assume they self identify as "Christians."
  20. On the Nazi memorabilia. When I was young both my grandfathers served in WWII. Nazi stuff was like trophies of US victory. My Dad had a Luger, a Nazi youth knife, and some sort of officers larger knife. My Dad also up until the last few years was what a lot of folks would call a gun freak as I bet he has bought and sold several hundred guns over the course of his life. We used to regularly go to gun shows when I was a kid, and he went most of his life. But about 30 years ago he got rid of his Nazi stuff. The simple reason he gave was that the people who wanted the Nazi stuff now did not want the stuff as trophies, but as something else, admiration and sympathy for the Nazi cause and philosophy. Today you have Republicans saying "The Jew Prosecutor" over and over, when they say "Soros Backed Prosecutor." It's no surprise at all to me that one of the biggest republican donors has Nazi memoribilia... is that really any more of a surprise than Clarence Thomas proving he has no ethics? Crow pays bid buck to buys and collects things. Apparently he has a Supreme Court Justice in his collection as well.
  21. it's all relative now. Compared to the rest of the GOP court? I think he does actually contemplate. I agree on the voting rights, but as bad as he is, he now seems more reasonable... because the rest are right wing political hittters.
  22. Roberts is the only Republican on the court right now that I believe has a high level of ethics and an overriding respect for the rule of law. Instead you have folks like Thomas that don't ask a single curious question for years while accepting levels of largesse that ANY reasonable person would be see only as a negative stain on the reputation of the court. What we have learned is that if Republicans are given power they will exercise it to the furthest extreme. Extremes that fit within a parameter where lies don't matter, corruption doesn't matter, votes don't matter only power matters. Thomas has the power now, and he has never given a fuck about anything but himself. The court is just a way to get free trips, and put the rubber stamp of a non-curious jurist voting exactly as planned without contemplation. A shill if you will. What the Supreme court shows us today, is that if you want to corrupt the court, you can corrupt the court. Now you have to use corrupt means, you must disregard fairness and principle to achieve this goal, and that was what Republicans did. When a minority abuses their power to place three minority view judges to the highest court in the land with the fewest votes to affirm ever you damage the credibility of the court. Republicans currently are morally corrupt. It's no surprise Republican judges suffer from the same affliction.
  23. DeSantis being married at Disney because, it wasn't "gay" then but is "gay" now is always good for a chuckle. I have always thought getting married in Disney World is absolutely moronic. I think it's more nerd than gay, because hell only a nerd homosexual would want to get married there. But I also was not a nerd, so there may indeed be a closer link to the potential of having a book change your sexuality if you are a nerd. So maybe DeSantis truly does have some sort of "fear" that is based on his nerd reality?
  24. So (channeling my GOP brain here) that TV can make people gay! You see Will And Grace has such an influence showing gayness that so many people became gay that now it is even OK to have gay people in tv ads! Cause and effect! Or the other options are just bigotry, stupidity and irrationality? I think the real reason... distraction, for political reasons. But again as I said my sexuality unlike that of so many Republicans can't be altered by a book, observation, TV show, or much of anything. But I guess I might be fascinated if indeed books could change my sexuality. I would endlessly wonder why? Not in a good or bad way. Just curious as to why a book could change my sexuality? The actual why?
