  1. Right now you have to simply say that the progression that everyone hoped to see in season with Ewers simply has not appeared, thus far. Now I can point some fingers at OL to some degree, but overall I personally don't think I saw much more in this first game that I did last season. The glaring problem is the exact same one as last year, the deep ball. I also think we try to force this aspect of the game to some degree, and I don't specifically blame Ewers for that, but as whose feet do I place responsibility for the inaccuracy if not Ewers? The good news is it was only the first game. The horrifying news is this was against Rice, not the beasts of Alabama's DL. My biggest regret about Ewers pedestrian performance is we should have been able to put in Murphy a lot earlier in a game we simply did not dominate offensively in the first half. That was my biggest disappointment. Now my concern shifts to how long do we stick with Ewers if we can't get a better percentage of completions on the deep balls? This is honestly where I wonder how much Sark has learned from Saban? If Ewers doesn't look strong versus Bama does Sark roll the dice with a change? I think looking back at Saban's career you have to think he might put next man up a lot sooner than Sark might. I personally hope like hell that Ewers comes out next week kicking ass. But if we cannot compete deeper balls, Ewers is going to have the dogs coming more and more often with less and less big play downside for the bad guys. Then again if he can make just a deep ball or two complete early it changes the game completely. Conversely strike out on deep balls that force punts a couple times... You get the idea. Ewers needs to move from greatness on paper, to greatness on the field. Or Sark is going to have to make a tough choice.
  2. I didn't know that Hunchbacks could type...
  3. This article from Aggie Wire proclaims that A&M is on of the most recognizable programs in college football, amoung 1000 high school recruits. link to article In related news, most high school football players when asked recognized a hump back when they see one...
  4. The main thing is the Kentucky legislature did what the GOP always does (what moral children would call cheating) they changed the rules on appointing a replacement Senator to replace McConnell. He has to be replaced now with a Republican. Somenthing that only happened because, the citizens of Kentucky used their votes to show they preferred a change, they wanted a Democratic Governor. Thus the rules had to be changed to thwart the will of the people. A mirror image of what McConnell and the GOP did to pack the Supreme Court. They changed the rules not once, but twice, purely for political gain. Not giving a shit about the citizens that were not Republican. Now the court has the lowest approval rating ever. Probably because the rules were changed twice to place 3 justices in place who combined have fewer confirmation votes than any other two justices in the last what 80 years, prior to the comical demonization of Justice Jackson because they have damaged the process so much? (80 years was a wag) Baically there has never been a mojority put in place with fewer confirmation votes than the current majority. Mitch did that. What is sad to me is that Mitch McConnell presided over the largest deterioration of two of our nations branches of Government in the Senate and the Supreme Court. Now you can't even get military promotions advanced. And as I said above the Supreme Court is now viewed as heavily political, and where Republican Justices live the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Because they also do not give a shit about any citizen that is not Republican. And concerns about ethics are simply no longer a concern from top to bottom in the Republican Party.... unless it's a Dem... Mitch led the biggest partisan shift in our nation, and in doing so he damaged our Democracy. Simply because he turned his party into a party before country party. And until the last 10 or so years, I honestly did not believe that about the GOP. But today the evidence is overwhelming. Party before country, again, and again, and again.
  5. just ordered these- I did a couple versions but this is what I settled on - I wanted TEX ASS on the back of the shoes but, morality police. SO I settled on ATX HRN for the heel text. Sort of fun to play with the customization with all the options. Unfortunately not all the NIKE custom stuff comes with orange "ginger" color option.
  6. Aggies just make you laugh. Because they honestly believe the shit they spew about Texas. Especially the move to the SEC. Let me get this straight, the fans of a team that haven't even been able to even win enough games to play in the SEC Championship in a fucking decade, are worried that we don't know what to expect in the SEC? Listening to the Aggies talk about expectations and the SEC are fucking hilarious. Listening to Aggies try to explain how to win in the SEC, is sort of like asking a street person advice on your 401K distributions. The Aggies were actually supposed to be good, and contend for the SEC last season. Before shitting the bed in a manner rarely ever seen in College football. So excuse me if all I can do is laugh at their predictions of doom for Texas next year, this year, or any year. There's a reason they ran away from big brother in the first place, and their nightmare is starting all over again. 😉
  7. 15... will get you 5... FIFY 😉
  8. Tex 48 - Rice 6 Ewers 241 Is the reward a road trip with Wulaw? Without the tent obviously!!!
  9. It's not really a surprise to me at all that racist violence often manifested in mass shootings have increased. The glee at which my friends who I thought had racist tendencies, let their guard down more and more as Trump became a Republican political leader and then President. Words like "There were very good people on both sides." When on one side their were people desiring equality for all Americans and on the other side were Nazi's and other other assorted KKK like groups. My racist friends heard the dog whistle. Slowly but surely the racist jokes that used to be whispered, gradually gained volume. They also gained more and more affirmation for like minded rural raised racists like themselves. Who finally had a guy who understood their racism... he was the greatest President ever, because he understood the oppression and victimhood of the high school educated white man. Who was angry about... damn near everything in their lives. The one thing I have noticed in my lifetime is that the people I know who are openly racists and bigots are pretty stupid as a whole. A few have college degrees, but most were small town raised young while men, who remembered what use to happen to "uppity N-words." They liked the way things were back then, and they can lay ever problem at the feet of someone other than themselves, or their white parents and grand parents who actually ran the governments of their towns and counties. Indeed even today, attempting to prevent black people voting is number one concern of the Texas Republican elected leadership. Republicans now honestly believe that state governments rather than local governments deserve control when black people come into power in cities. I expect a few more years of uptick in racism that has been stoked time and again by the GOP. I expect these to be manifested in mass shootings, by people who vote Republican if they vote. And it's not going to change until the GOP gets some political beat downs in traditionally GOP strongholds like Texas. Which of course will simply steer more hatred towards non-whites, by the party that is controlled and ruled from top to bottom with enormous influence from Rural racists. There are shit ton of angry uneducated white men in this country. The GOP has an overwhelming firm grip on this demographic, and it's the place where the most racist Americans proudly participate in politics. And yes, uneducated, angry, racist white men that then to overwhelmingly vote Republican are and will continue to be a danger. Because after all... "there are very good people, on both sides!"
  10. See I thought we were gonna get a real number! But apparently Donald did find the missing 47 pounds! Happy to buy you a drink if you are in Austin.
  11. I think you saw exactly what the Republican party is today. An intellectually dishonest party without any actual principles. Yeah I will vote for a convicted felon, because... I can pretend intellectually that for Donald Trump and Trump alone, is a "victim." It's a pretend fantasy world, that must be lived in from top to bottom of the party. With the notable exceptions of Hutchinson and Christie. Intellectually... oops, I know, I know, intellect is a very, very dangerous thing according to today's Republicans, but intellectually most of the arguments I heard made last night would have been shredded in my Freshman year ethics(?) class, in that the basic premises of their foundational arguments are simply falsehoods. The single exception was Haley actually admitting that grotesque spending by the Trump Administration gleefully expanding the national debt by an unheard of percentage was the real culprit. I could go on and on. But to me it seem that the single foundational necessity to being able to be a "Good Republican" is a whole hearted embrace of intellectual dishonestly. Even worse, every one up on that stage, knows they are being intellectually dishonest, but they know it's now a requirement to be a "good Republican." And honestlym that is why we find ourselves at one of the single most dangerous points in time in our democracy. Simply as when you can knowing embrace lies, then you can lie about anything, And without truth, a country built on foundation of lies, has a very, very weak foundation indeed.
  12. He just wants to find.... the 47 lost pounds... one more than he needs!
  13. since for the first time since he was elected President (with Putin's helping hand) we have not had an honest measurement of the math of the former President's girth. The lying physician said he was 6'3" and 244 pounds. while extolling Trump's amazingness. I don't really cane about the height os such a small man, but I am curious about the fun of predicting his honest weight. I'll buy the winner a couple of Hopdoddy big rita's in Austin if they would like! predict away! My Guess is 296 lbs.
  14. Two really come to mind. Fall of 1978, Van Halen opens for Black Sabbath at Sam Houston Coliseum . Van Halen is the hungry hunter and fucking kicks ass, walked out on Sabbath maybe 4 songs in. But Van Halen was really, really, really good, and I still fell lucky to have seen them in their prime. Second was in March '81 (had to look it up). Stevie Ray Vaughn opened up for George Thorogood and the Destroyers at the old Austin Opry House. Great smaller venue and SRV fucking ripped it up. In fact when Thorogood stepped up to the mike (paraphrasing) " Well, we can't do that, but we are gonna rock this place!" Good overall concert, but SRV planted the flag, and it was still waving when the destroyers left the stage. I also remember walking out on Aerosmith at the Coliseum, but can't remember who the opening act was. It was really disappointing, since I was onto Aerosmith before most anyone. Owning one of the first pressings before they changed to cover, and removed all the drug history and craziness from the album. Really, really, really disappointing as Tyler's voice fucking sucked, and he was in his toss pills out of his scarf stage. I'm sure there were at least a few others. Sure wish I had kept all my stubs, they would be worth a lot now, or make a cool ass collage.
  15. Happened to be down on South Congress last night for an early dinner and decided to go to C-Boys and see Restos (formerly Western Youth i think). I had seen in the chronicle that they had a residence at 6:30 at C-boys as a prelude to an Album release at Continental Club sometime in September. We caught a few songs before the close of their set, and a couple of the second set. And damn we really enjoyed them! Plus it was free and early (geezer hour as I call it). Reminded me of some of the early 80's musical vibe, between the five of us, two olds and three 20 somethings, we all enjoyed them. At times Tom Petty like, Springsteen, with a sprinkle of Country. Diverse sound and easy to listen to. Wife and I are probably gonna go back and see the entire set last week. But if you want a great free thursday early show for the rest of the month check them out at C-Boys. Side note - about how Austin is changing. Went and ate at Aba and it was solid but not spetacular, but fun as a group. But holy cow, I expect downtown to be a sea of cash and flash when I go to hotels and such but I don't know if we are becoming cali, houston, or Dallas but the vibe around Aba was more like the Galleria than Austin. Just a lot more pretentiousness. I will say if I were a single guy, it seemed like there were 3 gals to eery guy early in the evening. Going there and going to C-boys was like going back in time to what Austin used to be. Thank God we still have a little Austin left. Get it while you can!
  16. Basically for Texas, NIL means No Income Limit. If we really, really, really, want a guy, it's not gonna be because we don't have enough cash to match most any offer. However, this is not to say that we won't choose not to match an offer. But NIL has created a situation not unlike an auction. There are basically two ways to come out ahead in an Auction. Bid more than anyone else for a particular item is the way most folks view auctions. But the way to use your money to hurt opposing bidders, is to drive up the price they have to pay for items for items you can do without, by driving up the bidding. We have the ability to do both! Draining the bank roll of a bidder at auction over the course of the auction, can be every bit as important as the actual size of your bank roll, as the auction goes on.
  17. Things used to be so simple... Hookers and blow... Ahhh. The good old days...
  18. The Simple Truth is the Republican party is a minority party, and the only way to have a chance at winning, is anger. And anger must be continually stoked. Brooks fails to look at how much his party is responsible for continually stoking this "meanness." The willingness and desire to believe outright lies, to validate an incorrect opinion also helps make folks mad, and thus mean. David Brooks is a tool, but he does make some points. But he is not introspective about how years of basic political dishonestly, and reinforcement again and again of this dishonestly, influences folks "meanness." I have always lived by the same rule. A rule that the owner of Texicalli Grille on Oltorf, Danny Young exuded, and put on the wall of the restaurant so many years ago. "Just be Nice." It's not hard to be nice, it's actually easy. In fact one thing that I have told waiters, bartenders, nurses, salespeople and on and on. When you have folks that are being assholes to you, 90+ percent of the time, it has nothing to do with you. It has something to do with the asshole's, work, wife, dog, son, daughter or whatever. You just happen to be in a downhill position, and these angry people want to hurt somebody. And you are in a position where you don't have to power to fight back. ThIs mirrors the GOP's political methodology of always attacking people that do not have the ability to fight back. Blacks, interracial couples, gays, trans and and now the parents of trans kids. Why does the GOP attack and attack and attack these weaker folks? Because they NEED to stoke anger, to have a chance at the ballot box. You NEED somebody to blame for YOUR ANGER, You simply do not see the same sort of decades long demonization of weaker classes in the Democratic Party. Because it's not a key component of their political strategy. In contrast you see the stoking of anger nearly continually on the right. You do hear anger from the left, but it's never continuously aimed at the weak. Meanness is ALWAYS directed at the weak. Or those that cannot fight back, like a waiter, nurse or other service oriented job. In my counsel to folks on dealing with the assholes, I tell them as hard as it is, you need to think past the moment. That person may be in front of you being an asshole for a certain period of time. But when they leave they are still an asshole, and they live the life of an asshole every day. And being an asshole is a shitty way to go through life. So simply smile and be glad you are not them when they walk away. The sad thing is that being nice to others is one of the most uplifting and joy bringing things you can do FOR YOURSELF! If it doesn't make you feel good to open a door for somebody, to let somebody into traffic, to simply be kind to somebody for no other reason than the kindness itself, then you may fall into the "mean" category. And to be honest, those poor mean folks are missing out on the little things in life that make life worth living. A small act of kindness is a wonderful thing, and other human beings notice and appreciate it. I feel sorry for mean people. And letting them know that... would only make them madder and meaner.
  19. I'm ADHD as a mofo. But I get it, I too could confuse contiguous with cunnilingus, but the ladies tend to like continuous cunnilingus... but if you do non-contiguous continuous cunnilingus, you end up tasting some shit... 😉
  20. Signed, home schooled non-SAT takers!
  21. First thing you need to do is clean up the headlight lens so you can see! Tons of kits to do it and takes less than half an hour, for both improved appearance and safety. You also might want brighter bulbs? I have always been a fan of the sedan with a strong engine. As it's fun to haul ass and draw less attention. IF you are going to keep the car I suggest you learn to turn a wrench, as when you need a part you are either going to pay out the ass, or the Wrench A Part salvage yard will become your friend. But it is solid transportation with a low price tag. Put a little money into stock every month that you do not spend on a car payment and that little vehicle just might very well indeed be an amazing investment.
  22. Thanks for the reply guys. I think a lack of sleep and some hard partying the night before may have been the culprit for her high resting heart rate. Still want her to talk to her doc about it just in case. Again thanks
  23. Ahhh... the mystery of the prior electrician! You are gonna need to pull the GFCI and take a look at it. WARNING!!!! If your GFCI is used using a quick connect make sure to try to release the line, rather and twist it out using a little muscle. Tends to cause the quick connects to no longer make a consistent connection, so press the release in fully as you press the wire into the plug BEFORE bulling the line out. If not wire to post screws. I am assuming there the GFCI is either wired with a pigtail, to allow current downstream as has been discussed, or there is some funky wiring you cannot see. If you pull the GFCI out slightly you can get a good look at the connections and that may give you some clues. Sometimes electricians are lazy dumb asses! Story as example is years ago my BIL was hosting a family reunion and the water pump at his lake house on LBJ goes out. It's about 25 feet down and its the day before the event so we just pull the damn thing out, and by some miracle the store n Burnet had an exact replacement. I was responsible for the rewire so I match of the wires heat shrink and waterproof the connection, and we put that sucker down in the hole... Nothing! My BIL is of course asking me if I made the correct connections, which I am sure I did. He goes back to the store in Burnet and they offer to send out their guy that does these things for them. About 2 hours later he shows up. After a few minutes he looks at the electrical panel and says, "Oh I remember this one." Then he switched the black and white wires at the electrical box, and it worked fine. apparently that dumbass had mis-wired the in the ground connection, and his fix was simply to switch the wires on the breaker box. WITHOUT FUCKING LABELING IT!!! The most interesting thing about the story... The Electrician's nick name was... wait for it... Jinx!
