The horseradish Recipe we use is a blend of roughly 50/50 mayo and sour cream, then we just add horseradish to taste and add some lemon juice to taste as well. I will say that you can always cheat and just buy some Woeber's Horseradish sauce (which we always keep in fridge) and add some sour cream to bulk it up and give it texture. But for a prepared squeezable Woeber's is the bomb. It's pretty strong but delicious!

Well I was going to post in shit I cooked lately, but here you go. This was a big boy 7 bone or whole side 15+ lbs. Had to cut off a double cut Ribeye to fit in my roasting pan. Did 475 degrees for right at 50 minutes, basically until it starts smoking. Then turn it off and let is sit a minimum of one hour, before turning the oven back on at 350 degrees until the desired temp. I usually pull it out just before 120 internal temp to let it rest as you will usually gain 5-10 degrees while resting before the temp begins to fall. I may try to cook at 200 degree and pull at 120 degrees and lest rest for 45 minutes method, where you then return to over at 500 degrees for a few minutes for a good crust like Alton Brown and some other chefs suggest. Simply as less rest time after the second firing next go round. However the great thing about the cook and hold in oven method, is that the timing on the meat is a lot more flexible. ALSO - kudos on the temp chart. As somebody who has tried to educate folks on the stupidity of overcooking meats until the taste and texture is crap it explains why the suggested temp is so much higher than the NECESSARY temp to cook safely. So as I said above I basically had a cowboy cut ribeye steak left over. I was worried about such a large ribeye on the grill catching fire as the fat melted. So I knew I was going to end up with a hard sear on the outside to preserve the juice (Pittsburgh). The drippings repeatedly caught fire and I moved it around to keep the flames at bay to some degree. I cook a lot of stuff on the grill with a sear and the indirect, but nothing as fatty as a ribeye at this high a temp. Set it off to the edge of the fire in a closed pit and rotated it so all the edges. So I guess it's WTF do you do when your prime rib eyes are bigger than your prime rib pan. But not bad for first attempt!

Well kids thought I would give this a bump (not the 80's variety). Now we have had a few weeks of downward trajectory of the Trump train. Not that the true believers will ever say there were wrong, mistaken, of fooled like rubes. What you are going to gradually hear, is that... they supported Trumps policies... but he's changed... Or pull a page out of Trump's playbook and say "Trump? I don't even know who that is?" But that's next Christmas. This Christmas will be the first free for all since covid, and the same folks that ALWAYS want to talk politics will have a tough time not regurgitating the propaganda of Fox News as their own thought. But you still need to be ready, to inject factual information. I think the best questions should focus on "I know you were outraged that Hillary had some confidential emails on her private server. But what do you think about Trump stealing documents and all the empty Top Secret files folders without any contents? You may also hear some forward looking attacks on Hunter Biden who may very well be guilty of something unrelated to President Biden. Ask them. "I understand your concern about Hunter. What do you think about Jared Kushner refusing to turn over his communications with the Saudi Government, and receiving $2 billion from the murderer Prince? Do you think the new Republican congress should investigate that?" Their head will probably explode if they know any factual information. But more likely will be... I don't know about that (because I only listen to propaganda). Anyhow hopefully some relatives are slowly beginning to realize they have been fucking idiots, but to admit such means... they are fucking idiots. But hope Springs eternal! Hang in there kids and do you part to save Democracy!

Again who know WTF the truth is. Relationship seemed to be ending and the catalyst was the breaking of Beard's glasses according to Randi Trew's statements to police. Beard said he had audio recordings initially to the police that he did not turn over. But what is he does have said tapes that backup his story and makes her statements seem like misrepresentation of fact? Does that put enough doubt into the episode for a full dismissal of charges? For example if she broke his glasses (there was no explanation of how the glasses were broken) and hers were knocked off her face, and the tapes clearly show she was the initial aggressor, how does the University view that? If for example the only thing Beard will plead to is knocking glasses off her face in retaliation. Does that leave a window open for retention? Of would that act alone as a response to her aggression justify a firing, versus counseling for example? Again far, far too early to assume anything as the facts have not fully come out. But just wondering if you all think certain transgressions along a spectrum might allow retention, or whether you think most any transgression in this arena is a fireable offense. The University is clearly within it's rights to dismiss Beard, but is also waiting for the facts to come out. The last thing they need is to fire Beard, find out that a lot of the initial reports were inaccurate and become party to a $35 million wrongful dismissal suit. In all honestly, in my mind Beard's only real hope of survival here is he does indeed have audio tapes on the interaction, that put a lot of her assertions in doubt. Without that he's gone. I have thought he's gone for a while, but my curious mind wondered what if he does have tapes...?

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet
horn4life replied to Coach pop a bitch's topic in Football
I think Ewers should cut the mullet before the Alamo Bowl. Then proclaim he will shave his head after each loss he starts at QB in 2023. Then we will know he is truly serious about next year! 😉 -
Help me on where to move (remote work)
horn4life replied to Js1's topic in Can You Help Me With This?
I guess if I was going to work full time remote one of the primary things I would look at might be the ability to rent my primary residence if I wanted to hit the road and travel/work remotely. If I am just pure remote I am looking for nature and access to more nature. Likely coastal for me because I like to fish. If I have the ability to be flexible I am going to take advantage of it. Likely in an RV part of the time. But I am an empty nester now. -
The destruction of America's public education system
horn4life replied to Captainant's topic in Cloak Room
The most dangerous thing to the GOP now is smart people. For years Colleges have been deemed liberal brain washing institutions. Mainly because there are not enough far right teachers in the system. Well fuck when you don't want to pay teachers and your party is based on make money and fuck everything else and you are surprised that there are not right wing Republicans taking lower paying jobs as professors? As if water is wet is some breakthrough discovery! What you see most from today's Republican party is most similar to the early days of the rise of nazism in Germany pre WWII. You have intellectuals attacked, you have the banning and then burning of books to feed the fervor of those who feel educationally inferior (which is true). So the solutions to all the STOKED anger is simply to attack, attack, attack. Destroy, Destry, Destroy. Texas for example hasn't increased school funding in years despite a rising population. The Republicans simply do not care about education. They do however like using education to make the uneducated angry. Which is what we have today at School board meeting around the country. Folks complaining about books they have never read, and would never read. Thus nobody should be allowed to have access to anything but what the uneducated think should be available for the children should read. Their fucking kids were NEVER going to read these books anyhow. But now they have a reason to be angry. Which is the whole point of the GOP's politics, make folks mad and keep them as uneducated as possible. What the GOP is for is school choice. Where people sending their kids to private schools (that don't have to worry about protests of ignorant Republicans wanting to ban books) be able to have the government pay for their private school choices. It's sad really. But hell I probably read more books by the end of Elementary school than the average Republican I know read perhaps by the end of their college days. They were not curious. They are not curious today. This is why Fox News is so effective. They can easily influence this demographic, the less educated and well rounded the better. You see it's a lot harder to convince educated people to form an angry mod. The uneducated? Not so much. In a nutshell the "Freedom" the GOP espouses nearly always infringes on the freedom of others. Whether it's the ability to spread covid because you don't like masks, or whether you want to protect your children from books by preventing others access to the reading material. The freedom to own assault weapons is worth the price of stacks of dead school children. The dead kids are just a cost of their freedom. Again I just wish for one fucking time in my lifetime the GOP could fix a problem of any magnitude. Instead it's just get the mob angry and onto the next false outrage. It's of course a LOT easier to foment anger than solve problems. It's an elevate the stupid as if they are the smart people. Better to have a mob of stupid angry people than a thoughtful group of educated people. So let's elevate the stupid, or worse the well educated Ivy leaguers who pretend they are not well educated. Because they have demonized the well educated. Hypocrisy is truly the seminal foundation of the Republican party.- 1542 replies

BBCAnd we (men) are fucking assholes. But the key is to know not to fucking engage, when the BBC comes to play. 1-5 odds her search history had domestic assault in it, from the last week. Beard is gone, but in the end, it's gonna because Randi Trew knew she was going to be living in a 1 bedroom apartment rather than Terry Town. And Beard is a dumb fuck for doing anything but simply saying, "get your shit and go" last weekend. But it's hard to put a woman you used to love on the street... Unless you are Ice T.... I would love to get on Randi's computer and type in... D...O...M...E.. and see what came up, and what was highlighted as read. No matter Beard is gone, and she won.

No, Mike Leach, YOU'RE awesome! [Pirates Last Voyage]
horn4life replied to Parliament's topic in Football
He lived it his way. A tip of the hat to Leach. -
Just win baby! Were we lost and lethargic during the first half? Absolutely! This is a streaky team. They make big runs and then seem to sit on their hands. I think there should be a special highlight reel of the soft fouls when Teas has big leads. It was nice to see the player rally around interim coach Terry in the twit video after the game. That gives me hope honestly. Basically the season is going to go one of two ways. The team will rally together and play unselfishly and they will be very, very good. Or the individual talents will try to showcase themselves and ply selfishly and we will win a lot of games, but we will only be very good. Coach Terry has to get them to buy into the former, rather than the latter. In a weird way I am almost glad this shit happened after a loss. As otherwise we know that Coach Terry would be the singular cause of the loss to some morons. I would love to find out that he charges are a bit exaggerated. But I am expecting them to be slightly muted, but not enough to save Beard's job. So I guess we are gonna see how coach Terry does this season. I for one hope he takes advantage of this opportunity and get the talented individuals to unselfishly play as a team. That's the path to success!

He's likely toast. They are saying he had said he had tapes showing he wasn't the primary aggressor, but did not turn them over to police. But who would be dumb enough to turn anything over to the police in this sort of situation without talking to your lawyer. So basically it sounds like the relationship wasn't the greatest. She broke his glasses. And he snapped and there seems to be a lot of physical evidence on her body. I guess he didn't choke her to the point of leaving any marks according to Texas Betas post. it will be interesting to see how this plays out. But I am assuming Beard will remember this as the worst decision of his life. And that he will indeed find another job and rehabilitate his coaching career somewhere. I also would not be at all surprised to see the choking aspect of the charges dropped. At least the boys finally got ahead of Rice!

I knew a gal whose picture I saw browsing the December APD mugshots. She had been arrested for domestic violence and something else. Husband was a-hole scum bag and goaded her into a physical altercation. He did this to try and gain some leverage in a soon pending divorce. She went downtown and then all charges were dropped. I imagine that will be the outcome here. Perry Minton his attorney is saying "He is 100% innocent. "He should have never been arrested. The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly inconceivable." It might all just be due to the BBC? The Bitches Be Crazy! Now all guys are assholes as the Flip side of the coin. But the BBC... it is real. Could also be that the officers were like a lot of referees, not Longhorn fans. Could be he lost control completely and she is lying to try and undo the 911 call. Way too early to prejudge anything. But you can keep the BBC pearl of wisdom.;-)

well... Fuck me.... That's not good. I guess we are going to see the coaching prowess of Rodney Terry tonight? Most likely his wife. These things can be nuanced. Seen the scumbag spouse get the arrest, as they played the right carts to instigate it. HOWEVER, Chris Beard is a big guy with a known hot temper. Which can be great for coaching, but not so good when you get arrested. Not a good day for a team that was rising

Just a little before and after on a roast I cooked to celebrate a graduation. Actually overbought and took the whole rib eye roast in the cryopack. But I need to get a bigger roaster! had to cutoff a monster 3-1/2 thick ribeye steak to get the uncooked meat to fit. I went ahead in cut off the ribs prior to cooking, and just tied it all back together with twine to cook. On a small roast I would do the rib work after the fact. But on a 15 pound roast... cut the ribs off first. Also a PSA if you like the pics. Randall's has Choice Ribeye Roasts for $6.99 a pound... until tomorrow Cooked it at 475 for 50 minutes, until it was smoking pretty good. Then shut the oven for a couple hours until the guest were soon to arrive, then finished at 375 until the thermometer hit 120. Turned out a perfect medium rare after resting. I need to get a roast pan that is a bit longer so I can cook the entire 7 ribs at once. I forgot to take a pic of the meat cutting, but it was great. I'll try to remember to take a big of the giant bone in ribeye steak before we devour it.

I actually hope Colorado becomes good again. As I enjoyed playing them when they were good in the early big 12 years. Mainly, I enjoyed my Colorado tailgate parties, as I liked eating Buffalo burgers when they came to town. It will be interesting to see how Sanders fares. I hated him as a Houston fan, and for me his personality is too over the top. But it is a brand for him, and young kids will buy into that swag. You get enough of them and you dan do pretty well. What will be most interesting to me is can he build a TEAM? I thought Sanders was an amazing talent and a shitty teammate. I also think he will feast on the malcontents of the transfer portal, especially those that other coaches view as a character issue. But I will be curious to see how they deal with the adversity that certainly will come. But I do miss those mascot buffalo burgers.

The GOP Dilemma, how to win without the loyal Racist base?
horn4life replied to horn4life's topic in Cloak Room
I like how folks that don't want to discuss a topic. In this case the warm embrace of racism that is necessary for the GOP to win elections, want to pretend that other aspects of their "thought process" (regurgitations) are of interest? I guess when you don't really have your own thoughts on something, it is a lot more difficult to defend most anything intellectually. Instead it is sort of necessity to change the subject. Sort of sad really, but perfectly understandable. That's exactly how so many support a party that cannot win without its loyal racist base. Instead the necessary defense is not to discuss, but to should from the hills "WHAT ABOUT..." Because... for some thinking and discussing a subject.. is simply too fucking hard. So... the whatabout defense is pretty much the trademark of the GOP now when asked to discuss much of anything. At least it is as predictable as racists tending to vote Republican, and the Republican party not rejecting those racists because they need the votes. That's sort of the dilemma.. But What About.... (insert regurgitation here) -
The last page and half sort of remind me of the huge roast I cooked yesterday. It must suck to try to cut one with a dull knife...

The GOP Dilemma, how to win without the loyal Racist base?
horn4life replied to horn4life's topic in Cloak Room
I also think there is honestly a lot of rationalization on the issues, while pretending the underlying issue isn't racism in many instances. Some folks probably honestly believe that they are not racist even thought the party they endorse has shown a special tolerance for racism. A lot of folks I know point to taxes as their reason for voting Republican. But their comments belie perhaps a reason far beyond taxes IMHO. -
I don't know if I would go for the snorkel but hell if it's for fishing, let's go where others can't! And maybe a deeper water crossing would be advantageous. That Airstream version is nice, but I would have to change my clothes outside after a day of fishing.

Hell If I was going to undertake a build, I would probably allocate some money to at the minimum tie in an RV drain connection next to your cleanout. If the land would allow it, I might try to pick a spot for the trailer that specifically would work after the house is done. For larger groups in the future perhaps. Then perhaps (depending ont he price) run a line DOWNHILL from the RV parking spot and ass an RV sewer drain. I had a vision of you attempting the master the dark art with your bucket, and begging you to add least add a RV drain to connect your portable poop tank to. Or promise to at least show us some photos of how much you regret getting shit on yourself! 😉
