Here's the deal. there are no locks, as far as NFL financial security. How many guys have you seen that were "locks" wash the fuck out for whatever reason? Now this is not to say you cannot certainly identify NFL level physiques and skill sets, but even for guys like Bijan shit has to fall into place. What if Sark had ridden him like a pony and worn his body down and created nagging injuries? We would for sure have a better record, but Bijan might not be healthy. I do think you can say absolutely certain guys are locks to get long looks by the NFL, and that's honestly all a young player can ask for. Maybe you can play for a year or two, or maybe 10 if you are a bad ass. But one of the great things about The University of Texas that if you use your head, you can parlay your game days into a healthy income outside the 3.3 years the average NFL player plays. Probably the single biggest factor for all the players as far as NFL consideration? WIN FUCKING GAMES!!!! When you team wins a lot everyone looks better, the talent pool goes stronger, and in the eyes of NFL scouts this helps all boats rise on the tide. Have a single break out season on a Natty contender and you are gonna get a sniff for sure. Have that same season on an 8-4 team... and you won't get a sniff at all. Of course feel free to disagree, but winning and winning consistently is how you get more guys from individual classes into the big show. We seem to be on the verge of having solid two deep talent. We seem to be at point where the leadership of upperclassmen is where it needs to be to take the next step forward. The more steps the team takes forward the more of the good guys get a real opportunity to earn a job in the NFL. But if all of them were smart they would be pressing the flesh of UT alums as often as they can, because for the vast majority of our players that is where their earnings are going to come from. OR maybe the all save their NIL money, live conservatively, and have long NFL careers! 😉

What new UT gear are you looking to buy this year?

So not XXL in a short... 😉 -
Hell just kill the dogs! I could see a tall bookshelf that would hold whatever I would have left where the dog dishes are. Of course I would have to drink a few of the bottles mourning the death of my dogs... 😂

Here is the article. It's more about how un-democratic the Republican Party as a whole is, and the actual risk to our country with the GOP's immoral quest for power. I have begun to wonder how fucked up the Children are of most Republican Politicians? Simply as how do you provide a moral framework or realization of the value of honesty from a parent who proves again and again publicly that they have no moral framework nor value for honesty. Here's a link to the expulsion over decorum and the embrace of child molesters by the GOP who control Tennessean politics. Gun chants bad... Child Molester (R) etc good...

I can't believe the wall to wall coverage of Porno Don... As what you are going to find today is that as fucking stupid and gullible as the majority of Trump supporters are, the are no longer so fucking dumb as to lose their freedom protecting Porno Don. So the circus is going to be a lot more media created, than from Trump supporters. Of course MTG will get her face time, as the irony of Porno Don calling his former lover "horse face" comes clearly into focus. But it would be fun to hear a chant of Porno Don! Porno Don! Porno Don!!!!

The official 2024 GOP Presidential Candidate Clown Car thread!
horn4life replied to horn4life's topic in Cloak Room
The clown car is rolling on down the road. The indictment (or idicate) id you are Trump will be great at fundraising, showing the lack of courage of every elected federal GOP official, and insure Trump will have at least 31% of the vote as the Republican Nominee in 2024. Asa Hutchinson is actually the sort of guy I used to view as an upstanding Republican, that I used to vote for in all honestly. I don't agree with all Hutchinson's views, but hell at least I can see the ability to discuss factual information with the man. And sadly you cannot discuss factual information with nearly any Republican elected or not these days. The strangest thing about this particular Presidential election period is that we are either going to embrace facts and democracy, or we are going to embrace dishonestly and the complete and total corruption of our nation directed by a potential President Trump. With flag waving, fact devoid folks cheering all the way to a removal of Presidential Term limits, political accountability and democracy as the Founders envisioed. Asa Hutchinson won't make a dent in a fact free Republican party, but he will at least be a single cry for intelligence in a sea of mouth foaming liars. -

OK so where can I get the shirt Terry wears? I can't find one with the black zipper. As always could lose the swoosh, but I think this pullover will look good with the eventual hot sauce or queso on it. Anybody??? -
The only real certainty is that the Republican party will abuse dishonestly the rule of law in order to truly weaponize the Justice system at the state level. They will use actual prosecution of law breaking by Donald Trump as justification for their future illegal and immoral actions. If you doubt this, look at how the GOP stacked the Supreme Court with a series of dishonest and unprincipled machinations to allow the minority party to place minority view radical justices affirmed by the smallest confirmation margins ever, in exactly the opposite processes based on "principles." Pretending there are ANY principles the Republican party is both stupid and dangerous. We have a Republican party now devoid of principles and allergic to facts. And to be honest we have never seen this sort of danger in the United States. If you are a student of history and know that the term "brown shirts" means, you will understand how a situation in another country in the late 1930's preceding the darkest moments in the history of the world.

Yeah covid really fucked up October. Folks were flexible with their kids and they found out how nice October is to enjoy the still warm surf, and have potentially great fishing just sitting on the beach in the right spot. The good news however is that the kids are now really back in school and more importantly participating in sports. You see sports commitments on the weekends is what keeps most parents from extensive travel once the school year gets going again. I noticed a definite drop off this Fall from the prior Fall. More folks overall than pre-covid, but that may be a function of just more folks heading to the coast.

What I always love about Republican politicians is they love to focus on personal responsibility when cutting social programs, but they never, ever actually take any responsibility for anything. Abbott and company shit the bed, fuck over the Texas consumers and orchestrate the largest killing of taxpayers via their specific moronic Electrical grid plan. To be more accurate, the usual lack of regulation in preference of giving GOP donors the ability to pollute and gouge consumers allowed Abbott to simply let the taxpayers pick up the tab. When the state of course had massive reserves that you would think a fiscally conservative government might use for the easily anticipated emergency. Self-created and designed in this case. But accountability? Fuck no! As a bonus Abbott told a bald faced lie on the cause of the Electrical Grid collapse. Because Republicans no longer are concerned about facts, and there is not accountability nor responsibility within the Republican political landscape. Uvalde - Abbott comes out and tells the State and the Nation a bald faced lie about police response. Even today the Governor has refused to give the parents of the dead children an accounting of what actually happened to their children. Why you might ask? Because telling the truth about what happened would make at least some folks want some degree of accountability. So expect complete and total stonewalling on allowing the facts to see the light of day. Because then lies about how great Abbott's leadership is would be clearly rebuked. So lie, hide, and spin. That is what now substitutes for responsibility and accountability from Abbott and other Republican leaders. It's sad to me that there is no accountability nor personal responsibility for Republican politicians by Republican voters. None at all. And now Abbott and the GOP have created a situation where it is better to lie, because they KNOW that Republicans would rather believe most any favorable lie, than even glance at an unflattering truth. Imagine how fucked up the kids are these Republican parents are raising today? If you really want to know about the true scumbag that Governor Greg Abbott is? Look at his record of taking care of the children in his care, in the Texas foster system. A system where if a parent provided the level of care that Abbott feels acceptable, the parent would lose custody of the child for endangering the child. It's a sad and sick record. But in the next breath Abbott vows to wipe out rape, so he can pretend that the abortion laws he supports are not as draconian as they actually are. Imagine if you had a woman that did not take care of her children, but wanted more and more children NOT to take care of? That is the world Greg Abbott lives in, and he thinks it's fantastic!

Great run for sure from my seat in Section 31 running to the end zone right in front of us... Though something here seems like a Deja Vú? Of course it could be related to my favorite piece of Ricky memorabilia that horrifically was lost in a fire... again? Or am I flashing back...

Official Coach Terry thread of dominance: Do it for the fam

So Terry was the absolutely best hire given the reality of the circumstances. I agree completely! -
Official Coach Terry thread of dominance: Do it for the fam
horn4life replied to shadow_operative's topic in Basketball
ANYBODY who is wringing their hands over the hiring of Rodney Terry... is a fucking moron. Simply because there wasn't ANY FUCKING COACH IN THE NATION we could hire that would provide a big enough splash with their hire, to negate the negative fallout from not hiring Terry. Not a single coach in the universe that you can name would have been a more positive hire than the hire we made. The name does not exist. Now if you want to mire yourself in minutia to try to rationalize a moronic position, that is your right. But stop pretending that your prose and musing are anything but fucking moronic, in the face of factual reality. Terry was the best hire we could have made. Period! To pretend this is not the case IMHO is simply to pretend that reality does not exist. -
Never underestimate the lack of desire for factual information to be a predictor in a rural election in Texas.

The problem is that Democrats don't fucking bring it on this shit. Simply say that, yes this is simply another Republican sponsored and endorsed slaughter of school children. And until the Republicans decide they want to do something other than sponsor and endorse the slaughter of school children by AR-15's, this is where we are at. The only thing we can do ad Democrats is ask the public to please ask your Republican Representative why they personally sponsor and endorse the slaughter of school children by Assault weapons. Then let the pussy ass whining by the Republicans begin... I think it's worth labeling these tragedies correctly. As Endorsed and Sponsored by the GOP!

Texas Basketball Recruiting Notes: It's Miller Time
horn4life replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
Yeah I see your point, But I would say we do need at least a bigger body from a weight perspective. We didn't really have an answer to truly man up in the paint against Omier. In fact the necessity of putting in Brock Cunningham on him at the end cost us badly in that final foul. Cunningham was listed at 210 lbs, versus the 245 lb Ormier. There was a reason Miami owned the paint. That's one of the main reasons I am hoping that RT can convince Disu to come back one more year. As he is the heaviest player we had on the roster at 225 lbs. He would have helped a lot vs Miami. But he also would have been physically outmuscled most of the time because of the addition 20 pounds of muscle on Omier. I would say that the size inside in this game was a puzzle that we never did solve vs Miami. We need a bigger player that can run at 240 to help us with out in the paint game. IMHO. -
Oh shit. I never even thought about that. Reeling in 876 pounds of dead weight probably is a complete bitch. Sort of like the old bucket on a line trick... but with 4 trashcans on the line, and in a good current... I can only imagine the lactic acid buildup for every angler involved. I'm hoping for a quick Port A trip mid week trip if the weather will agree around the April new moon. AFTER Sand Fest is over!

The Rodney Terry salary and structure Poll if your were Del Conte?
horn4life replied to horn4life's topic in Basketball
I will be very curious to hear all the details of the contract, especially the incentives. I actually like a longer contract at a lower price point from a recruiting perspective. I was juicing the salary a hair in my prediction but cutting the term. I should have realized that any commitment less that 5 years after giving Beard 5 years, might not be the best idea to boost recruiting. So like I said on the term survey! Whoo Hoo! Rodney you the Man!!! While it's completely possible that RT will flame out. I can't feel anything but good for a guy who honestly seems to love the kids he coaches. I think his choked up interview about being in these kids lives for year was genuine. And if you can't root like fuck for a guy like that? Who you gonna root for? -

The main thing, is Terry has a record of being a very good recruiting when representing The University of Texas. The deep run shows the guy can coach. He created among his players the best TEAM I think any of have ever seen at Texas. Hell because of the team first mentality we damn near made the Final Four with one of our best players and leading scorers on the bench. Interestingly enough, I think that Terry's knowledge of team building is likely his best attribute, when it comes to recruiting. Simply as the truth is some talented kids are fucking team cancers. I would give almost anything for Disu to come back, as I think of what a beast he could potentially be next season. He's got the skills, but he would be very, very, very difficult for all but the best in the Nation to defend if he came back and was playing at 6'9" and closer to 240-245 (I decided 250 was 5 lbs too many). Durant was 6'10" and 240 lbs out of high school apparently, so a little size might go a long way on Disu, and help him be ready better physically for the NBA, (dreams, hopes and prayers here) IF I were Terry I would treat Disu like Mack Brown did Ricky Williams. #1 recruit on the list! Get him and If we can hold onto what else we have, and bring in some transfer portal talent... sheeeeeeiiiiiiiiitttttttt,... we will be looking pretty. I guess one of the best things about the portal for Texas fans is we are gonna see what sort of juice RT is gonna be able to squeeze pretty quickly. I guess in my mind the most interesting things will be if Terry and Beard are going head to head on a transfer. You gotta give the edge to RT right? Anyhow we still seem to be always looking for a holy grail center. Imagine if one day we truly had one of those to play with in our lineup mix? Good things on the horizon!
