  1. One opportunity lost was at the 180 minute mark, was to tell the American public that Trump had his thumb up his ass for TWO FUCKING SOCCER GAMES! Or in American.... an eternity! I'm a soccer guy, but that would have been a great sound bite, that all can understand.
  2. Dark horn4life says: Kill neighbor, BBQ neighbor. Use BBQ to attract neighbor. Kill neighbor, BBQ neighbor. Use BBQ to attract....
  3. oops.... Well welcome the fuck on board anyhow. And thanks for committing early!
  4. Just wanted to bounce this back up. While it's been a thrill ride since Arch came on board, I think it's important to note the first guy to hop on board. Even more importantly the fact Dylan Spencer in one of the big dogs on D that we are desperate for here on the 40 acres. Your commitment in March seems so long ago now. So thanks Dylan for being the first man in the boat! You have to be smiling now even more at the decision you made looking at all the talent that is coming in with you. Work hard, get an education while you work hard physically, and let these next 4 years change the path of not only your life, but the lives of those closest to you. Hook'em! And thanks for being first.
  5. Yeah I still remember my bitch Sister refusing to let me watch the glory of Gilligan's Island on the color TV, because she had already started watching Mr. Rogers in black and white... on the fucking color TV!
  6. Well since the GOP wants to take our legal system for women's freedom to the early 1920's they should do the same for weed. As it was legal until 1916...Of course marijuana was made illegal because of fears of... you guessed it... Mexican citizens. According to history.comWhy the US made Marijuana illegal? Fear of Mexican Immigrants
  7. Well did you think Republicans could form a national policy without a 3% foundation of proven success! Arm the teachers, more mental health! Even though we go out of our way to cut it at every opportunity. The fact we can't even prevent unstable kids who can't even be trusted to buy a beer a weapon so lethal it leaves more than 350 armed police officers staying down the hallway for safety. I have no problem having folks kill other killers. But allowing the folks that really want to kill a lot of people and have more firepower than the police they will encounter, are embraced with bloody hands by the GOP after these events. Simply as you can't get even perfectly reasonable gun legislation on background checks passed. Freedom for the mentally unbalanced to buy AR15's their senior year of high school is what is important. And yes I am certain that Fox News heavily covered the 3% scenario. While perhaps a lot of other media sources may have indeed have a lot more focus on the 97% scenario.
  8. After seeing the Matador Club my mind horrifically jumped to "Elephant Walk Club..."
  9. Hell just add the Secret Service to the Department of Justice and the Supreme Court to the list of institutions Trump corrupted... With the gleeful participation of Republicans who actually believed they were doing the will of God, or trying to save the white race, or whatever other tin hat shit the Secret Service agents protecting Trump believed.
  10. 376 members of law enforcement responded to the Uvalde School shooting. It wasn't numbers, it wasn't equipment, it wasn't leadership. It was officers that knew what an assault rifle can do, and they did not want to be shot. Nothing more, nothing less.
  11. So how many billions has Abbott taken away for his pet border issue unfunded boondoggle? Basically all GOP planning is the same... under normal circumstances... things should hold together. What about unusual circumstances? Who could every anticipate that anything out of the normal could every happen. ERCOT planning at it's finest. Of course, what is especially interesting to an ACTUAL fiscal conservative like myself is how much money Abbott can redirect to protect us from brown skinned people desperate for work (far and away the majority). Estimates are all we have, because Republicans are really, really bad about being fiscally accountable. But to me a billion dollars to create an un-legislated slush fund is bullshit. Not matter who is in office. I for one would like accurate accounting on Abbott's diversion of funds.
  12. The problem with Austin is no matter how many folks leave their is an endless army wanting to come to Austin. And it's not ending anytime soon. Real Estate is pulling back because of interest rates that's for certain. And yeah if you are working a 9-5 type job, your commute is likely hell. If you don't, and your schedule is flexible? Austin is still pretty nice. But with the annual increase in taxes I am going to need the income of a part time job just to cover that nut in 10 years. But if I were a local kid, the price of housing would freak me out. So that would mean a move. I honestly think that Corpus may be the next boom town simply as affordability is there. Only thing is it's extremely conservative, and thus not as funky and innovative. If you could transplant a shit ton of former Austinites there you might be able to get something going. For me I am probably gonna want to be within a couple hours of Houston or Austin so that may be a later life option, with lower property taxes. Now it's possible I could convince everyone to move to Colorado. It's the one of the few places compatible with my SIL's Petroleum Engineer degree, but that would be a miracle. So I guess I'll be here sweating my balls off, reading your tales for years... 😉
  13. I was also going to say this. At 51, you still have a ton of life ahead of you. I would very, very seriously also look at a passion you have, that you might be able to monetize. Again the fact you have some lead time creates a golden opportunity potentially out of an unsettling situation. The great thing about this route is that you would be willing to sacrifice to build something that is your baby. It also would mean that when you are 61 you would not potentially have a similar posting that is even more unsettling a decade from now. Again time is your friend. This sort of hits close to home as my wife's company is going to have to lay off some folks due to losing a large account. Probably not her, but it made us go through some of the worst case scenarios. We have had difficulties before, and we have always landed on our feet (luckily). But we also cobbled together a home life for our younger kids by both working part time and giving up some sizable cash to make sure one of us was always there for them as elementary school kids. Seeing them today as adults made that investment worth it. Though surely we would have a lot more retirement dollars had we said fuck it, slam them in after school care, and let's bank. In other words take this opportunity to not only look for another job, but for a life evaluation. Most folks simply want to cover their bills comfortably and not hate the means of doing that. Look for the unusual opportunity that might be the north star of the rest of your life. Maybe create a job you can't be removed from? While only a fool would say it's not scary to face losing your job at 51, you just might look back a year or two from now saying, this ended up allowing you a path you never could have imagined had this "disaster" not happened? Again good luck! PS - if you are thinking about self-employment, try to purchase any immediate need assets or leases while you still have a W-2. Then set up the company as a corp so it can create you a W-2. Probably not the route you will pursue, but you are crazy if you don't contemplate having control of your own destiny. Hell you could start a yard cutting service that specializes in putting up Christmas lights and have something going by the time you get laid off, and at least have cash flowing. Not a dream job. but a piece of a financial puzzle that could give you independence. Anyhow thought it worth at least thinking about.
  14. You have a job now. And you have a timetable. A lot of folks put in 10 years and poof, here's a month and on your way out the door you go. Just trying to put at least a little positive spin on what is certainly an unsettling situation. But that time is golden, and it allows you to pretend you don't need a job, because technically right now you don't. I''ll be honest I have not interviewed for a job in like 30 years, but I was carefree as a bird interviewing when I had a paycheck, and not as good when I was worried about getting one I did not have. I would suggest interviewing at a couple places that you don't view as a great fit, just to get some interview practice. Because like anything the more you do it the better you get! Good luck! That time you have to plan is golden. Sucks but it could have been a lot worse.
  15. The one fucking really shitty thing about the internet and podcasting is that faces made for radio are now seen by our eyes. The $9.95 folks nearly universally fit into this, "It would have been a lot better to have only been heard, and never ever seen category."
  16. Since Republicans are "oh so concerned" to distract with "mental health care". Let's not forget who it was that completely dismantled and put so many former occupants of mental hospitals onto the streets here in Texas. Another lie and distraction. The good news is these Republican actions creating additional homelessness of the mentally ill, gives them the local issue of homelessness as an issue that the Dems created. Cool isn't it, this create a problem, blame other folks for it. Rinse and repeat. It's like Trump and Co running up massive as shit deficits of a magnitude increase never seen before during a time of plenty (prior to GWB doing the same thing), and deficits are... Dems fault... Nobody spends money like a GOP President who inherits a good economy from the prior Dem. I just wish a GOP President would fix enough shit one term to hand off a better situation than they inherited to a Democratic income President.
  17. First off, obeying federal regulations is the only chance Texas has beyond anything but rampant pollution by corporations eventually cleaned up and paid for by taxpayers. Look at the fucking flaring in Texas and the complete lack of giving a shit about it at all. Second when I hear dumbassery of "cheaper rates" its.... you guessed it, a fucking lie. Because the costs are simply not factored in correctly. Fuck up, freeze the state solid and who picks up that tab? individual homeowners, and of course the cost burden shifted to.... the fucking taxpayers. I used to be a card carry Republican. My boss hired me away from my old employer so I would not take Karl Rove's business away from him. The GOP hasn't solved a single fucking problem of any magnitude that I can think of in the last 30 years. We are still waiting on the GOP health plan. it's all lip service, and distraction. The electrical grid is a pretty fucking big deal and we got more action on trying to criminalize the danger of transgender parents trying to help their child the best way they know how, than was expended to fix the electrical grid. Anyone's electrical bill falling? Anybody incur expense or loss of income do the electrical grid crashing? Anyone get a bail out from Governor Abbott via bond sales? Like his energy supporters are all getting? Just curious. Again i just wish for one fucking time in my lifetime I could point to a solution to an actual problem that matters! If there is some great problem the GOP in Texas has fixed in the last 30 years, please, please, please let me know what it was?
  18. Don't you think that currently editing it to "the shocker" is more appropriate in representing the feelings of our Aggie brethren? Let the good moment flow at least a fucking second before worrying.
  19. I have this crazy fucking idea. A world where Texans vote in a greater and greater percentage of the population.] Then the top down corruption will change to people who actually want to serve the state of Texas and its citizens. So I am not fucking leaving yet. Family is like for most folks, an anchor. I have a dream where more reasonable people wake up and we change the state from within. I know it sounds crazy, but we just gotta wake some folks up and let them know hey, if you vote it won't be only old white people making the policies in the state anymore.
  20. Yeah... same problem as always. White folks like money more than kids, but they need kids. Especially with Facebook! The story has always been the fucking same. Immigrants are laborers, because of a language or education barrier. This is numerically true, despite all the engineering hires because the US doesn't produce enough. And poor people view children as potential income for the family unit. A lot of folks I know love the shit out of their one kid. IT WILL ALWAYS BE THIS WAY. But if you want to know about why Republicans are concerned? Find a way NOT to say racism..
  21. Yeah... But Boring fucking chicks...
  22. I agree with everything but Jeffrey Ross... But if you are trying to get Republicans to understand some of the roasting, then I understand Jeffrey Ross...
  23. I few elephant walks and jizz jar fill ups should take care of that...
