  1. Shhhh.....
  2. So Terry was the absolutely best hire given the reality of the circumstances. I agree completely!
  3. ANYBODY who is wringing their hands over the hiring of Rodney Terry... is a fucking moron. Simply because there wasn't ANY FUCKING COACH IN THE NATION we could hire that would provide a big enough splash with their hire, to negate the negative fallout from not hiring Terry. Not a single coach in the universe that you can name would have been a more positive hire than the hire we made. The name does not exist. Now if you want to mire yourself in minutia to try to rationalize a moronic position, that is your right. But stop pretending that your prose and musing are anything but fucking moronic, in the face of factual reality. Terry was the best hire we could have made. Period! To pretend this is not the case IMHO is simply to pretend that reality does not exist.
  4. Never underestimate the lack of desire for factual information to be a predictor in a rural election in Texas.
  5. The problem is that Democrats don't fucking bring it on this shit. Simply say that, yes this is simply another Republican sponsored and endorsed slaughter of school children. And until the Republicans decide they want to do something other than sponsor and endorse the slaughter of school children by AR-15's, this is where we are at. The only thing we can do ad Democrats is ask the public to please ask your Republican Representative why they personally sponsor and endorse the slaughter of school children by Assault weapons. Then let the pussy ass whining by the Republicans begin... I think it's worth labeling these tragedies correctly. As Endorsed and Sponsored by the GOP!
  6. Yeah I see your point, But I would say we do need at least a bigger body from a weight perspective. We didn't really have an answer to truly man up in the paint against Omier. In fact the necessity of putting in Brock Cunningham on him at the end cost us badly in that final foul. Cunningham was listed at 210 lbs, versus the 245 lb Ormier. There was a reason Miami owned the paint. That's one of the main reasons I am hoping that RT can convince Disu to come back one more year. As he is the heaviest player we had on the roster at 225 lbs. He would have helped a lot vs Miami. But he also would have been physically outmuscled most of the time because of the addition 20 pounds of muscle on Omier. I would say that the size inside in this game was a puzzle that we never did solve vs Miami. We need a bigger player that can run at 240 to help us with out in the paint game. IMHO.
  7. Oh shit. I never even thought about that. Reeling in 876 pounds of dead weight probably is a complete bitch. Sort of like the old bucket on a line trick... but with 4 trashcans on the line, and in a good current... I can only imagine the lactic acid buildup for every angler involved. I'm hoping for a quick Port A trip mid week trip if the weather will agree around the April new moon. AFTER Sand Fest is over!
  8. New State Record Bluefin That baby is thick... That's what she said...
  9. I will be very curious to hear all the details of the contract, especially the incentives. I actually like a longer contract at a lower price point from a recruiting perspective. I was juicing the salary a hair in my prediction but cutting the term. I should have realized that any commitment less that 5 years after giving Beard 5 years, might not be the best idea to boost recruiting. So like I said on the term survey! Whoo Hoo! Rodney you the Man!!! While it's completely possible that RT will flame out. I can't feel anything but good for a guy who honestly seems to love the kids he coaches. I think his choked up interview about being in these kids lives for year was genuine. And if you can't root like fuck for a guy like that? Who you gonna root for?
  10. The main thing, is Terry has a record of being a very good recruiting when representing The University of Texas. The deep run shows the guy can coach. He created among his players the best TEAM I think any of have ever seen at Texas. Hell because of the team first mentality we damn near made the Final Four with one of our best players and leading scorers on the bench. Interestingly enough, I think that Terry's knowledge of team building is likely his best attribute, when it comes to recruiting. Simply as the truth is some talented kids are fucking team cancers. I would give almost anything for Disu to come back, as I think of what a beast he could potentially be next season. He's got the skills, but he would be very, very, very difficult for all but the best in the Nation to defend if he came back and was playing at 6'9" and closer to 240-245 (I decided 250 was 5 lbs too many). Durant was 6'10" and 240 lbs out of high school apparently, so a little size might go a long way on Disu, and help him be ready better physically for the NBA, (dreams, hopes and prayers here) IF I were Terry I would treat Disu like Mack Brown did Ricky Williams. #1 recruit on the list! Get him and If we can hold onto what else we have, and bring in some transfer portal talent... sheeeeeeiiiiiiiiitttttttt,... we will be looking pretty. I guess one of the best things about the portal for Texas fans is we are gonna see what sort of juice RT is gonna be able to squeeze pretty quickly. I guess in my mind the most interesting things will be if Terry and Beard are going head to head on a transfer. You gotta give the edge to RT right? Anyhow we still seem to be always looking for a holy grail center. Imagine if one day we truly had one of those to play with in our lineup mix? Good things on the horizon!
  11. Well since A$M is paying 4.1 million, I guess I should have added a lot more zeros to my salary numbers. But with a fat Bonus, $4 mil base, and some serious incentives I think that is about the right starting point. Let's all be honest, if Terry manages even a couple of the Incentives I listed, he is gonna probably get an extension and a salary bump. But I think my initial proposal is in the neighborhood of what Del Conte will deliver. I could be underbidding on base salary, but I prefer a larger bonus as a reward (without cost really) for this season, and slightly lower guaranteed base with incentives.
  12. So winterized my unit this go round properly instead of simply pumping anti-freeze everywhere at the last second. One thing I have not done and will do moving forward is add an external water filter. Since I mostly have camped on a monthly basis in Port A, my main water source has been the hard water. So when I took out the heater plug there were a lot of mineral deposits, on the plug so obviously in the heater itself. At first I thought just keep the heater offline, then fill it up with CLR, let it sit a day or so, then drain and flush the shit out of it. Then I thought... wonder if that CLR will remain behind and fuck with the lines, water taste, poison us or whatnot, as I am assuming it says do not ingest. Then I thought about vinegar, and saw that online but also saw that the acidity from the vinegar might damage the water lines. I am pretty sure I can isolate just the heater and can hillbilly engineer a way to fill it up. Then flush this shit out of it. I need to flush out all my lines anyhow do de-winterize, anyhow. Any suggestions, warnings, stupid shit you have learned from? 😉
  13. IF I were writing the contract, I would probably use a big signing bonus to juice the overall salary, and spend some of the cash we saved with Beard's exit. I would want to juice the contract with incentives, simply as the biggest argument against Terry is can he reach this level on his own. This allows both protection for the University and incentive for the coach who believes in himself. In my mind, a $2.5 million signing bonus, with a 4 year $4 million a year base salary, with the following incentives, Conference Title $500,000, Sweet 16 $500,000, Elite 8 $750,000, Final Four $1,000,000, Natty $2,000,000. If he wins he eclipses Beard's salary Easily Just thought it might be a fun exercise to see what other folks might do if they were making the decisions.
  14. The bottom line is exactly as I predicted weeks ago. The potential negatives of not hiring Terry, are simply larger than any positive from any so-called big name hire.
  15. I'll confess, maybe I don't watch enough college basketball, but I have never seen them stop counting the fouls on the tv screen. Of course it's also sort of hard to say the Ref's are not influencing the game when on team gets 32 free throws, and the other team gets 15. I hate the way television influences the refs to try to "keep the game close." in these big matchups. Great season for the Horns, but the one lesson that EVERY Texas team has to learn. At Texas you will always have to be better than your opponent, and the referees...
  16. I doubt we will see Disu again, unless we make it to the final four. Even then I think he will be doubtful.
  17. Roaring Fork downtown in the Stephen F Austin does have access to a room I am fairly certain. I think that some of the newer East Side venues may have some room capability. I know Suerte has a room but don't know how large (24 from link below) . Salt Trader that was also mentioned would be good and it's near Zilker if that's convenient. Here is a decent list. This request made me curious because we may do something downtown for a birthday this fall. https://memo.thevendry.com/private-dining-room-austin/. Has at least some photos of the spaces. Most importantly they have capacity listed for the rooms! Uchiko has a 34 person space and would be a neat memory.
  18. It was interesting to me in the Poll thread on Terry that so fewer than half thought two wins and the sweet 16 would justify Terry's hire. My position for a while has been, yes the parts were there, but the outcome could have been horrific after Beard's exit. And it was at first, in all honestly. This I think for most people is grossly dismissed as a distant possibility. Go re-watch our struggles ending with a 116 point bitch slap. My other main assumption is that I think that replacing Terry after what he has achieved would be more of a negative than a positive. A position that can certainly be debated. But the Texas players view him as their coach, and I think we would see an exodus and new rebuilding cycle if he is not hired. Del Conte certainly, is under no obligation to hire Terry. But I think right now it's the smartest and lowest risk choice. Simply as I cannot put the name on paper that would eclipse with a positive vibe, the swell of negative vibes a dismissal might cause. Give me the big Splash name hire you think would justify not hiring Terry. The man took what he had, and made it the best team any of us have seen in a very long time. I think winning tomorrow makes my position impossible to assail (logically). So get on board, and maybe Terry can give us a ride tomorrow and beyond and truly make Texas a basketball school. He's a good guy, a good coach, and I think he will use this season and the new facilities to do very well on the recruiting trail. If he fucks up, fire him. But right now a dismissal would be a negative rather than a positive. Flame away 1604...
  19. All I know is Crystal is the shit. Fucking love that stuff. Just ate an avocado with the stuff. Started using it more from when my Daughter and her husband fell in love with it after moving to New Orleans. Just has a flavor I like. Not the hottest, but a flavor profile I like with a little back end heat. Been putting into our meatballs and hamburgers lately with a high level of consistency. We are gonna jut put in on some raw cauliflower and roast it in the next day or so. I bet it turns out great. If you want blistering hot it's not the one for you. But I and my SIL are damn near addicted to it now.
  20. What part of town? That's the main question. Most likely you are going to need to book way ahead, and you are going to be looking at places that cater to corporate customers for the most part that have private dining space. If you are NW you might consider Maggiano's in the Domain. Good covered parking for drop off, with covered garage steps away. Weather is a bitch sometimes around weddings. We did an anniversary party there a few years back and a private room and it worked out well without a nose bleed cost. But mainly what part of town?
  21. Honestly, it's a lot fucking harder for kids to get away with shit today. Mainly because of social media, and the fact that some dumbass is recording shit on their phone. So an extra tip of the hat to the kids that did do dumb shit and did not get caught. But as I say to all the young folks: Do you know what the key to your future is? Condoms, Condoms, CONDOMS! I say pounding the table. Never been more true for any college football player.
  22. I know this is something that a lot of people don't count for much, but I believe it is a product of INTERNAL team leadership. None of the kids apparently (at least at this date) did some dumbass shit over spring break. New Coaches often have to be team "leaders" because quite frankly a lack of team leadership is often a key component of coaching failure. The coach's dream is when the team polices itself, and dumb decision making becomes a real point of shame throughout the squad. so a huge tip of the hat to all the players for... NOT fucking up last week!
  23. Yeah when you start a reply last night and don't post it... oops. But yes tonight.
  24. THAT is why I honestly thought that when they reemerged post Stevie with the addition a Doyle Bramhall Jr. and Charlie Sexton were added to the mix as The Arc Angels, I honestly believed I was watching the wellspring of a super group. I saw their first show at Continental for like $5, then it was like $10 the next week, and climbed from there. But two GREAT guitar players with Stevie's rhythm section had a band that was steeped in the blues, and deep in talent. You think that Charlie and Doyle have been hired guns for the likes of Clapton and Dylan over the course of multiple tours is a separate testament to their talents. Saw Stevie maybe 25+ times. A girl Holly turned me on to them I forget where, but Saw him most at Steamboat. It was fun to see him open up for George Thurgood and basically make Thurgood say when he took the stage, "We can't do that but we are gonna rock this place" at the Austin Opry House. Made me happy for the hometown hero. Saw him at Club Foot for sure and at a place across from the DPS office Third Coast. The thing that was great about Steamboat was the guys on the other side of my Parker lane duplex were two of the bartenders at Steamboat, so it was easy on the budget. I still remember praying "Let it be Robert Cray..." before his identity was announced. I would have liked to have seen him as he aged. There is a documentary Tomorrow at the Paramount Theater about the Brothers and Jimmie is answering some questions after the show. Think the wife and I are gonna pull the trigger. Good article on the movie in the Statesman, "Brother's in Blues." Bothers in Blues Statesman Article
